Default [ALA] Angelsong, Blood Cultist, and Sangrite Surge

More filling in the spoiler, except I don't altogether hate these cards.

Angelsong
1W
common
instant
Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn.
Cycling 2
"Clash of sword and cry of beast fall mute when angels sound the call to prayer."

Delicious in limited. I might not see as many times that I wouldn't want to keep a fog in my hand, but the one extra mana doesn't cripple the effect for the flexibility of being able to cycle it. Seems good.

Blood Cultist
1BR
uncommon
creature - human wizard
T: blood cultist deals 1 damage to target creature.
Whenever a creature dealt damage by Blood Cultist this turn is put into a graveyard, put a +1/+1 counter on Blood Cultist.
"To immortality."
?/?
(0/1 or 1/1, I am guessing 0/1 to balance it?)

People that guessed Vein Drinker would have some pals are indeed correct, it seems. Early game it really messes with combat math and makes the opponent hold back X/1 cards, and, assuming it ate some dudes, becomes a solid threat late game. (This is the easiest Vampire ever to pump, because you just damage a guy that is dying anyway and reap the reward.) Amazing in limited, of course.

Sangrite Surge
4RG
uncommon
sorcery
Target creature gets +3/+3 and gains double strike until end of turn.

Bomb. Oh wait sorcery. Still bomb.

Wow. Limited only (maybe new Fog in Turbofog), but I'd be glad to open any of these in my sealed pool.

Sangrite Surge is only really a bomb if you have a few guys who trample, else it's just an Edict.

Thanks seds!

More fog effects, woot . Holy Day for 1 more and the chance to cycle if it is of no use. Cool.

The cultist I wager will be a 1/1, and that ability can be very nice, a great many cards can be canceled out by him in the early game.

Sangrite Surge... Giant Growth + Double Cleave... it can be a definite bomb on top of a strong trampler like, say, Deus of Calamity. Oh yes, fun ensues on Turn 6... feel the love. Twice.

Seds was right, these are all pretty good cards in limited, and perhaps more. That sorcery buff makes Manaplasm deal 20 damage. That's all I'm saying

Put Sangrite Surge under a Mosswort Bridge. Play Tower above on Manaplasm. Attack with your 11/11 trampler. Then active your mosswort bridge. Do you think you can win with a 20/20 double strike trampler ?

I thought sangrite surge was an instant for a second, and I thought, wow... the return of HATRED. Swing... and WHACK, DIEEEEE!!!!

Not nearly as fun as a sorcery. But still amazing in limited.

Angelsong is also very, very good in limited, where it essentially buys you a turn... or it buys you a card.

A fog effect is always fine in limited, and if you don't need it you could replace it with something else. I like it !

Ohh... awesome ! Reminds me to Rakdos Ickspitter. My bet that this will be a 1/1. This is my favorite from this batch.

Sangrite Surge
4RG
uncommon
sorcery

Nice on tramplers (Naya beasts) or evasive creatures (Jund dragons ) ! If it would be an instant then it could win games easily, but still very stong.

The cultist gets out of hand really, really fast in limited. Angelsong will probably see play in standard as well.

terror. 3 for 1... or instant win? pretty brutal either way. frankly i'd still rather have an overrun under my bridge.

and the pinger just screams "use removal now" which in limited is practically like using a thoughtseize (come on, you know you'd take their removal)

fog effects make me want to throw myself into a wood chipper and that efficient one just means i'm going to see more of them... sigh...

People used to play ritual, ritual Hatred on Carnophagefor 18 in SuiBlack. That's 4+18 life to 1 if it's removed.
The existence of answers doesn't stop anyone from playing a card.

I just realized there is definitely going to be a card called double cleavage in the next UN-set.

Can't wait to see the art.

I really like the cultist, and I'm happy they reprinted Lull, but I'm so disappointed the double strike card isn't instant.

That's pretty clever. Though, if taken literally...

Damn straight, MaRo. And I'll be there, Counterspells in hand.

Actually, Turbosmog at least would likely rather run Holy Day. They are already drawing a butload of cards, and the cycling doesn't do much. I love it in Astral Slide however!

oh trust me, that's why i said "or instant win" after it. but seriously at that point an overrun is probably better because if you have one or two other creatures on the board, its not as much of a loss. just kind of seems like a win-more or get 3 for 1'd at that point ya know? but i've always been a big fan of attacking with a 20/20 creature so don't think i'm dissing the notion.
