My solution is that I just lick all my brushes clean, that way no need for water! Come to think of it though I've been using a lot of cadmium red lately and I haven't been feeling too well...
Wait, you guys use more than just regular red/blue/yellow/white/black to make your shades??!?!!
I've only been using primary colors and making all the shades I needed.
I dont mean to bring down the black lotus alter comments but......
why are you guys going ga ga over a photoshop mock up of a black lotus??
I would much rather see the real thing, actually photographed than a PS pic.
Cardkitty if you have the actual thing (i dont doubt you dont) please take a pic of it and post it, it would definitely get a better reaction from other ppl.

the real finished thing is right under the PS mock. They were just referring to the work she put into prep and stuff.

This one features MTGSalvation pics (up to page 30 or so) and has music by an obscure (but fantastic) band from Sacramento, CA.
I'm a huge fan of your work, CK, though I've been noticing that you've been, seemingly, mindlessly putting lightning in a few works where it doesn't really fit. However, where it does work, the effect is fantastic. (see: the Tezz and Jace, among others, that you've done)
Sry but I have to agree.. At some point, I just find them a bit impersonal and less creative than your best stuff.
Of course, if these are selling well for you that's another matter. I really don't understand the random Anime-chick lands I see on the 'bay either but those seem to sell like hotcakes for some reason. Hey, even guys like Pacino & Malkovitch have done paycheck movies from time to time. Don't even get me started on de Niro..
And there's always the small matter of what folks are asking for in their commissions..customer is king.
So, I posted this a little while ago and was wondering if I could get some constructive criticism (I'm expecting criticism anyway, it's not that great). I'm not a painter by any means, but the drawing was what I was intending on getting across.
Hey Morph' you got post 5k!
I'm glad someone else said it, too. But I understand the lightning totally.
It sells; therefore, do it. I was doing that for Japanese Conversion and Domo at first.
While it is selling in the 40-70 range, ABUSE IT, haha
Also, damn! My Bayou went for $81, I couldn't be happier about that.
I'm gonna put up another unlim dual tonight. Maybe a few other things as well
@Dman:
I really like that recall. You entered it in the SCG contest, yeah?
I like the top and the right, they mesh really well. The left side not so much, no idea what I'm looking at there.
Thanks Yawg. The left was supposed to be similar to mayan or aztec hieroglyphs, to emphasize that aspect more. I actually didn't enter into the SCG contest, cuz I have no idea what that is.
hi guys, just thought I'd mention that my workplace has a £500+ colour lazer printer which, upon inquiry, turns out to be "free for my own personal gain".
in other words, my next few works are probably going to be semi-digital.
Aparently they want a cut of any profits though.
doubt they'll get anything soon though as I don't sell (or haven't done thusfar anyway), though the Akira damnation may actualy happen.
EDIT: forgot to mention, I went to FNM lately and apparently replacing the art of a forest with the tree of mana does not qualify as recognisable artwork.
needless to say, I hate my judge for that. I mean, come on, what other card could that possibly be?
My solution is that I just lick all my brushes clean, that way no need for water! Come to think of it though I've been using a lot of cadmium red lately and I haven't been feeling too well...
brush cleaning is for n00bs!
I just use a different toothpic for each colour. besides, water warps the wood...
Yes. lol sometimes I get so pissed with matching a color or something just keeps going wrong, it'll get thrown across the room.
And since I work in the basement, they go far. I should put a target on the wall, haha.
I've taken quite a liking to ninja card battling but none of the playable cards withstand more than 5 collisions. I did discover though that my glue-amplified foil (which didn't work out) swamp is hard as a rock and impervious to any ninja related damage.
if only my glue soaked island was as good.
I like it, you did a really nice job of erasing the original art, really clean borders. I think I know the answer but did you use an eraser? I hate that method because it is super time consuming and hurts my hand haha, but acetone always ruins the card.

These are some alters I have had friends do for me over the past year, its just taken FOREVER to get them online. Sorry I really don't know how to put just the image up on here

Heh. Didn't even notice. I'm everywhere, you guys..
Yeah, you're doing this for profit first, fun second. At least I would, at those prices..
I've really got to try this stuff at some point. I think I could do a decent job, and with a little practice, quite good.. The return-on-investment seems pretty ridiculous. I think I saw CK's LoA was over $300 on the 'bay earlier this AM. JEEEEBUS.
really? I have found acetone to work alot better than eraser. 2-3 cotton balls is all it takes to blank an area, and the card stays nice and smooth.

Round One: Bill Copes playing Stax
Bill seems like a nice guy till I see that he's playing Stax and realize (by way of a concrete Magic formula I learned from my 4th grade math teacher) he has no soul.
Heh. Didn't even notice. I'm everywhere, you guys..

At GP Atlanta I sold a full art revised BoP for 85$ through Troll and Toad...

you didn't used to splash black in your mana gambit deck did you?

well, I guess I haven't used pure acetone yet... just nail polish remover. Does it make that much of a difference?
With NP remover, I will be rubbing away, and it takes a a good ten hard brushes to get the ink all the way off in a spot, and by that time, certain areas of the spot I was working on got rubbed too much and the gloss is gone, revealing the fibers of the cardboard.
Also, ink collects super fast on the cotton ball, forcing me to use several for a single card, is this everyone else's experience?
