Fiery Fall seems rather expensive so I'm not that excited to see that, but I think Exploding Borders could be rather useful. Not only can you get a land you need, but then you can send damage at your opponent. Not a bad card for sealed. Sure, its mana cost is a bit high, but good way to hit your opponent and beef up your land.
I also like the Sedraxis Alchemist. Blue/black is a nice combo. It'll be interesting to see what direction Conflux goes with design. Hopefully, it will continue building on the strength of Shards of Alara. Sometimes the 2nd and 3rd sets seem to fall off and become forgettable. |

someone please at least copy & paste the text from the cards in the mag to the forums, i will not install Quicktime on my system as it's infectious and i'm not risking trash to invade my system. someone post the texts, In german so we can at least use babelfish to translate it ourselves. thanks, and as an additional Question or possible crazy interactions. these Basic Land Cycling limited to just basic land cards, or basic land Types? if so we can use these cards to pull shocklands that will just be sick and wrong.

I'm not sure if it will be vanilla... Other 5 color creatures we've seen were pretty insane with game-breaking abilities, see Horde of Notions, Reaper King. It could have evasion or some ability to make it harder to remove.

Fiery Fall is definitely an instant, the magazine says "Spontanzauber", so we can add it to the spoiler.

As a digital artist, I've been working with Quicktime for years; this is the first time I actually hear someone put it on the same page as a dubious Java applet. FYI if you own an IPod you've been working with Quicktime software without even realizing it. =) Srsly, Apple is just as prone to leave back doors as Microsoft is, so either way you're screwed... As for the actual cards: Exploding Borders could be an extremely powerful card in a Domain Zoo deck running Shocklands to squeeze 4-5 damage out of it. It's a tad expensive for either a land fetch spell or a burn spell, but Blightning showed us just how effective the combo effect can be. It's probably as close to a cantripping burn spell as we'll get. Sedraxis Alchemist is good news for control decks; I'd just wish there was a viable U/B control deck that could run this that didn't also require 4x Bitterblossom. Paired up with Makeshift Mannequin and a noncreature blue permanent (Jace Beleren and Courier's Capsule come to mind), this becomes quite a potent tempo weapon. Yet another card that -almost- makes Sunken Hope playable... Fusion Elemental will not be played in 5cc, and I see very little reason for any other deck to skew its mana base just to include an 8/8 for five mana, especially when almost any single 5- or 6- mana top-tier monocolored creature gives you considerably more for your investment. Basic landcycling sounds like good news for budget deckbuilders. I don't think the ability will be constructed-worthy unless it comes tacked to a decent body that can then be put into play with Makeshift Mannequin or otherwise recurred. What I really like about this mechanic is that it gives control decks something useful to do on turn two without having to tap out on your own turn or run a 27-land mana base. I seriously hope the blue, black and white landcyclers are constructed playable; a good way to phase out faeries is to give U/B/x players some worthy alternatives, and I think both Sedraxis Alchemist and this are steps in the right direction, although not nearly enough yet. Keep 'em coming!

So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead... |

Sedraxis Alchemist: B+. Not amazing, not bad. It will probably cost
![]() .Fiery Fall: C+. Basic landcycling is a good ability, but the rest is awful. Exploding Borders: A-. At least Incinerate, sometimes Flame Javelin, that can only hit players + land. The name, however, looks like an Un-card. Fusion Elemental: B-. An 8/8 for five mana is never BAD. But thisone comes close.

I read over the online page of Kartefakt and Fiery Fall is definately:
Fiery Fall 5R Instant ~This~ deals 5 damage to target creature. Basic landcycling 1R Edit: Elemetnal is 8/8. The Alchemist is 2/2 for 2B.

I already told one person not to post the full page scan in this thread. It says very clearly in the Rumor Mill guidelines that full-page scans from magazines are forbidden. -charlequin Last edited by charlequin : 12-21-2008 at 12:33 PM. |

i mean, with Alara only providing 10 nonbasic lands ( with the 5 of that happens to be Panoramas which search for their shards' corresponding basic land type ) unlike Lorwyn which gave birth to Tribal Lands. i can also imagine a creature like this. Domain Creature RGW when ~this~ comes into play you may search your library for a forest or a mountain or a plains card and put it into your hand. whenever a basic land comes into play under your control, ~this~ gets +2/+1 until end of turn. 3/2 |

I think the Alchemist is UNC, and the burn spell is certainly a common. The land searcher is probably common as well? The cards are confirmed as posted in the first post, as far as I am concerned. The only thing iffy is rarity. Keep all speculation out of this thread please. This thread is about the cards spoiled in the magazine.
