My Rhys the Redeemed deck runs all sorts of token producers, not just elves. I make kithkins, saprolings, bears, squirrels, spirits, etc. Then Rhys doubles it all. Bwahahaha!!! I also use Glare of Subdual. It's redonkulous

I ran coat of arms in my Rhys deck, but ran into trouble with it helping all the dragon decks that seem to be around.Door of destinies seems to work a little better (it looks like you have plenty of elves) and Mirari's Wake is a nice two for one boost.

I for my part run a full token version of a Rhys deck.
So far it's proven itself to be very fun to play, allowing you to overload all kind of tokens everywhere. It's a bit fragile regarding board sweepers of course but it's also able to restart very fast with token producers that aren't creatures and then aren't swept by wrath effects. Here is my current list that, I know, needs to find 2 slots for Hour of Reckoning and Eternal Witness
The goal is of course to do a lot of tokens and manas (for more token) to rush on the opponents. With some board controle and a quick development, the deck runs pretty fast and is able to use every open mana you'll have even on late game. Big boosters like Coat of Arms don't seem that necessary even if loading elves 20/20 looks sexy. When you've got loads of tokens, they'll kill the opponent anyway... Any comments on that build? |

To punish people for playing board sweepers in a token/creature heavy deck try Fecundity. My Rhys deck makes so many tokens I usually have to choose not to draw any more cards off it at some point just to avoid decking myself.

Since you already run Squirrel Nest, I'd put in Earthcraft, it can never hurt. Against mass-removal you can play Caller of the Claw. Vitalizing Wind really pumps up your creatures, other cards that make your tokens bigger: Centaur Chieftain, Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, Marshalling Cry, Mirari's Wake, Baru, Fist of Krosa, Garruk Wildspeaker!, Righteous Charge and Tolsimir Wolfblood.

I tried fecundity that I found really interesting but after some try I saw it more like a problem.
I have really often smt to do with my mana without having to draw (Rhys is a good example, he can use a lot by himself) so even if I don't draw, I still can play. In the opposit, If my opponents draw during a sweeper or when blocking my charges, it could be a real problem, allowing them to start again or find a solution faster. That's why I decided to cut it. About Caller of the Claw, I should probably try it again. I put it on the deck too but never had to use it properly or never had it on hand when usefull, reason why I cut it as well... I still find it sexy anyway. The wind is funny but I prefere Mirror Entity, easier to pick with a tutor and reusable. Is Kamahl worth it? I mean, there's no real surprise in it except if you have 11 manas to spend. About Mirari's Wake, isn't it just overkill? It's fun, I admit, but when you got 5 manas available, isn't there better play to do that loose a turn to play it? About Garruk and Tolsimir, they already are in. |

The thing about Coat of Arms is; first of all, know what you're playing against. If it's not a "tribal" kind of deck then go ahead and run it out there. If your opponents DO have lots of the same kinds of creatures, then CoA becomes more of an 'alpha strike' card. You just have to wait until you have a huge swarm, drop it, and win. At least, that's how I play it in my goblin deck (and trust me, it's really good...better than Door IMO) EDIT: I second the vote for Wake....it's a must have. |

Mirari's wake isnt overkill, it puts pressure on your opponents side, its the same with kamahl. Heck have both that and Kamahl out with a few tokens, GG. By the way, i recommend Nemata, Grove guardian . She's in my doran deck with has a side theme of saprolings. She's fantastic and a huge problem for your opponent, not to mention she has a instant ability to pump your other saprolings. If you are planning on running things like mirari's wake or Mana reflection make sure you consider other cards that you can abuse with having a large mana pool to work with. |
