This deck has been working very well for me, I have won a few tournaments at my local shop with it. It is very successful against threshold, and can kill turn 2, but usually has a turn 3 or 4 kill. I believe this is more effective than elfball because its less suseptible to the combo breakers.
Ok, Sure Canadian Threshold is hard to beat, but is not an auto loss. The manabase has always worked out for me, it is a little fragile, but it works well.

also, in my build, i have no problems pulling off a turn 1 talara's battalion (my favorite play: play land grant, discard elvish spirit guide for the second mana, then play talara's battalion)
turn 2 kill with the right elf deck isnt impossible. you just need the right hand (doesnt have to be a god hand).
