Warning: This thread has a spoiled card from Alara Reborn. If you wish to avoid spoilers, please do not continue reading.
Here is the card: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=157377 When I first saw this, I instantly thought of Mishra, artificer prodigy, and I wanted to come here to brainstorm ideas. The first thing that came to mind is a hybrid of affinity
It's just a rough sketch now, and I'm sure to think of improvements. Anyone else have some ideas? Last edited by Shaharazad : 04-15-2009 at 01:01 PM. Reason: Added Myr Servitor |

A couple of things come to mind; although to be honest they both might be a bit too "cute" to replace anything in the deck.
First, I always liked Mishra with Soultether Golem while they were in standard. Of course, this doesn't really do anything with Time Sieve. The second one works better with Time Sieve, and can be a rather amusing combo piece for a multiplayer win condition. Myr Servitor. With Mishra and Esperzoa, you should be able to get all four of them on the board without too much trouble. With the servitors and Time Sieve you need only play one new artifact per extra turn (or sac a land or two) in order to keep one servitor in play in order to continue taking extra turns.

I really like the Myr Servitor idea.
Long story of this is that I wasn't playing magic during affinity, so I never felt the annoyance of it. Years later, I tried the deck and I love the feel of it and it's interactions, but it's a bit cutthroat for a lot of the decks I play against, so I've been trying to think of a way of playing "affinity", with all the bells and whistles, in a more interesting and slightly less cutthroat way. Time sieve really gave me inspiration for that so I'm running with it. I'm definatly going to try to squeeze 4 Servitors in there, thanks so much for that idea. I just have to think of what to cut now... If I really want to push the servitor combo with time sieve, I could run Artificer's intuition or Trinket mage with tinker for my "fifth" time sieve. |

Hmm, this is true.
I wonder if it would be more fun to just go for the combo. Arcbound ravager seems less and less ideal the more I go in that direction. I bet my playgroup would ok me using more than one tinker for this deck, since I'm not doing anything ridiculous with it. Assuming that's the case, I could nix ravager and and mabey another card or two and add 4 tinker and 2-4 Epochrastite If they do decide against me using the multiple tinkers, I could go for 1 tinker 1 Tezzeret the seeker 1 Reshape 1 Transmute artifact or fabricate Last edited by Shaharazad : 04-15-2009 at 12:50 PM. |

Intuition can give you a jumpstart on the Servitor half of the combo, and is a good card in general.

I like this new card, it should be quite annoying and will provide another reason to hate artifact lands when you aren't playing them
On a side note wouldn't it be cool to make a combo deck with March of the machines, Lifeline and Time Sieve ? You could play it with lots of quick defensive artifacts like Sun Droplet, Aether Spellbomb, Executionner's Capsule, etc.

What's about artifacts which replace themseves like Myr Retriever, Junk Diver, Sanctum Gargoyle, Chromatic Star and Terrarion?

On a less nostalgic note, I just thought about Rings of Brighthearth, it can help the Sieve do double duty even if you don't have recursive combo going. It could be worth considering.

You can create an infinite turn loop combo with it pretty easily with Enduring Renewal, Ornithopter,Phyrexian Walker, etc.

Artificer's Intuition is a great way to stock your hands with Myr Servitors. Also can find a toolbox of cogs if you wanted, or just other random dudes to sack.

Fantastic ideas everyone, such a huge help.
Artificer's intuition is one of my favorite artifact flavor cards, so I'll definatly try it out, and a singleton Myr incubator would be a fanstastic toolbox option. Speaking of toolbox.. I decided to limit myself to one tinker for the time being, just to keep things interesting. I figure I'll go with.. 1 Tezzeret the seeker 1 Tinker 1 Reshape 1 Demonic Tutor Also going to fit in 1 Sol Ring and 1 Mana Vault for extra goodness. |
