Recent discussions here and elsewhere have made it clear that there seems to be a group of players who consider blue and control synonymous, as if they somehow started playing a game with four identical and "bad" colors that do nothing interesting because they just "turn men sideways" and then true, glorious blue, the only thinking person's color.
EDH decks
Marath, Will of the Wild
Sygg, River Cutthroat
Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer
Marchesa, the Black Rose
So effectively worse 7/4 for 6 mana? Not impressed. And I dont even like the art. This has to be one of the least exciting previews for me. Bad flavour text too.
Well, it works a little differently than Spitemare in that it can kill a potential blocker without risking death in combat. It doesn't make me say "wow" but it's not terrible. Also interesting to see flavor text quoting Chandra.
spitemare deals damage when it's dealt damage, this deals 3 damage when it's blocked, killing any creatures with toughness 3 or less before it even deals damage. not bad.\

It's not even CLOSE to a "worse 7/4". This thing is a limited bomb. Junk for constructed, but in limited... B-R-UTAL.
Nothing with less than 4 thoughness is going to survive it in combat, generally, shuts down a lot of creatures with Deathtouch. So yep, terrific in Limited.
Its actually much better then it looks due to the changes to damage not going to the stack, it will kill anything toughness 3 or less before damage, stopping Lifelink and Deathtouch, granted at a horrible Cmc
I don't know much about the Magic storyline post-Mirrodin, but I thought Chandra was supposed to be a "BURN BURN BURN" kind of person. Why the hell is she referencing a monastery?
Since the text hasn't been posted yet,
Inferno Elemental 4RR [U]
Creature - Elemental
Whenever ~ blocks or becomes blocked by a creature, ~ deals 3 damage to that creature.
4/4 (Illus. Boros & Szikszai)
I don't like how the burn isn't 4 damage like his power, just feels wrong.
Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"
Tezzeret "No! he will break all my artifacts and stomp my head!"
Vol "powerful dragon must be brought to heel!"
Ajani "**** this Im outta *planeswalks to lorwyn* wow what hell is this place?"
Little lorwyn goblin "this be the place of bad art and Tribes!!!"
All other Alara planeswalkers "hey where did ajani go???"
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
I am trying to make a situation work in my head that doesnt involve a sick trade, specially with the new "assign Lethal damage" crap, btu this works well, assign 3 damage to the wooly, then assign 1 damage to him, and yummy lol this guys gunna either A:push some damage every turn, or B: kill tons of dudes
both sounds just fine with me
@Kami.inu I think its because of the assign lethal damage change for combat damage, makes him trade with more creatures
How so? I really wish people didn't think the new rules change everything. More annoying are the poeple who see 'until end of turn' and say shouldn't that say 'at the beginning of the end'.... ugh.
With the new forced change to assigning Lethal damage, you can bolt for 3, assign 1 and be lethal making this thing trade with 4 creatures toughness */4...seems good to me
Do. Not. Image leech.
R Citizen Cane (Feldon of the Third Path)
BUG Dredge BUG]
WUBRG Storm WUBRG
UBR FaerieStalker UBR
EDH
Sygg, River Cutthroat (1vs1)
Maga, Traitor to Mortals (multiplayer)
also really flavorful
im gonna try to make a mono-red control deck with Volcanic Fallout maybe including this guy, no?

EDH decks

The trick is that it kills anything with 3 toughness or less before it can hit it.
It's a very strong limited card.

UGR Intet, the Dreamer
B Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
WUBRG Sliver Overlord
W Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant
This is not making about half the sealed pool cuts it's in.
As for the card, it's okay. It just seems too expensive to see competitive play, but might be good in limited.

My Tamanoa decklist (RGW), infuriating my brother since it's so junky!
Maybe it's to make Air Elemental better by comparison? Serra Angel kicks both their asses
Looks cool and has great flavor text, though.

haha may all the Knights of Meadowgrains in the world rest in peace...>.<
The former makes the card great, the latter makes it meh.
