Essentially a Night's Whisper at common? I'm very pleased with that! The angel is great too, especially compared to Urza's Armor.

The new whisper is harder to cast though Color Intensive without the Lorwyn block might get difficult...

I think the draw spell is really good. You can target your opponent to Shock them if you have to. The angel is pretty good. Its a 3/4 flyer with a relevant ability for 4, which is nice. AND it stops bitterblossom pretty well...

Many people speculated Night's Whisper would be in...but it wasn't. This card is in instead. Notice it costs an extra black, but you can hit your opponent with it. This is good if you are trying to mill them or if you have Underworld Dreams out...or if they are at 2 life.

I think this set is trying to push control to use creatures to fend off aggro, rather than spells. Wall of Frost, Wall of Denial and this guy all help hold back the tide while you continue to control the board. Urza's Armor on a stick seems fine. A 3/4 flyer for 4 seems fine too.

I like the new whisper also. What I don't like is, as you said, the push towards creatures......ewwww.

(Not saying the angel is bad, just...ewww)

Nice! I like that the black card has two uses, and glad that it isn't splashable. The 'guardian' angel is also very nice, though it isn't quite as good as Urza's Armor because you can't play Pestilence/Pyrohemia games with it (source an Opponent controls) .

Well that certainly qualifies as a quality draw spell. I'm interested to see which archetypes make use of it to its fullest extent. Do note it can also be used as a weak form of pseudo-burn, too.

So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead...

It may be more colour intensive that Night's Whisper, but it's also a mono black control card that would be in decks with Tendrils of Corruption. Don't imagine you'd be seeking out too many non-swamp lands.

Last I checked, control (Lark?? Faeries??) was using creatures.
What is the difference?

Cards control decks lose in M10: Wrath, Mind Stone

Cards control decks gain: Planar Cleansing, Wall of Frost, this Angel, Silence, Harm's Way, Time Warp, Darksteel Colossus, a dual cycle that favors control, Gargoyle Castle (Not to mention they don't have to worry about manlands anymore)

Control isn't going anywhere.

I love the new Night's Whisper.

It's not just very solid card draw, it's also burn!!

How many times have you used Incinerate to kill and opponent that's at 2 life, I have. Now black can do it too.

And with Underworld Dreams out, it's amazing.

Pseudo-Night's Whisper! Yes, all Necromages rejoice! The fact that you can point it at an opponent can have some very nice strategic benefits just in case, but if I am playing black anyway, I am used to bleeding for my benefits. I need to find room for this in my RB Control deck. Hell yes.

And the angel, meh, s'ok.
