Rafiq and Colossus to name two.
Rafiq, yes.
Colossus, meh. I've never liked it.

Everything dies to something else, be it removal, bounce, burn, or combat. If I were to run wild with the assertion that "if it dies to removal, it sucks." then Rafiq and Colossus must not be good after all since they both die to removal of one form or another. Evaluate a card's worth based on what it can do, not what it dies to.

Play online if you're poor.

Or use proxies.

That argument is so played out.

Rafiq and Colossus are both one card that are good by themselves, so you aren't completely blown out if they get shot down.

In addition, Colossus has protection from alot of removal, and Rafiq can give benefit the turn he comes into play.

Yes it is. Oh well, it seems that you're convinced that Lightwielder Paladin is jank. You are entitled to your opinion, as wrong as it is.

I'm sure you will. While I don't think it's jank, I don't believe it is awesome either. It's a good card in my eyes, not crap but not awesome either.

The paladin is actuaslly pretty neat, If they upped it to 6 mana and gave it pro red/black and went mythic everyone would still complain about it. Somehow I think you can never satisfy anyone...

I completely Agree. I'm sorry but at 5 mana, for a non evasive creature which requires combate damage to do something. It's pretty poor. More over, it's liable to terminate, doomblade, never mind bituminous blast or a whole host of other goodies.

It's going to be a 5 to cast target player uses a removal spell.

It's not even sideboard worthy since it's capacity to hose is severely limited. Oh look, i chump block with my bitterblossom token. And god forbid if they aren't runnign red or black permanents.

It looks like a jank rare that might be reasonably good in limited if only for the 5 to cast 4/4 First strike. The ability is pretty meaningless since if they are running red or black, can't remove or block it, they are going to die to the damage ANYWAY.

So true...it seems like oranges2 is trying to find fault where there is none. I'm planning on getting a couple of these, along with 1 or 2 Baneslayer Angels (depending on price), a playset of bolts, and some Captain of the Watch cards.

It seems like you're trying to get excited over a bad card when there is no reason to.

I'm not. You and I just have differing definitions on what a bad card is.

And now a harsh note of reality.

Everything dies to removal. Which is what Lightwielder Paladin dies to as well.

Thank you for the nice little intervention of reality that no one is going to pay attention too.

Carry on.

Well, when I say "bad card", I mean a card that's bad in competitive play.

Whatever may be good in your lunch table circle of friends is beyond my knowledge.

How very nice of you to reiterate the same played out argument that was stated earlier in this thread, thus proving my point on how played out it is.
