still a little new to magic...but what i do know...is that if dragon storm is stopped and you dont counter your screwed...so my question is this.how can mono black stop dragon storm?i have found that sadistic sacrament can slow them down or even stop them even if the kicker isnt paid.

no, i think that if a deck running dragonstorm, and dragonstorm is countered in some way, that deck has alternate win-cons. First of all it's DRAGONstorm so you can be sure to have dragons in the deck, with FLYING. so no your'e not really screwed if dragonstorm is stopped, just your gameplan is largely altered

the dude at my locals runs a red blue version.just for draw...he runs about 6-7 creatures.4 of them i cant remember but say when this card comes into play target player or creature loses 5 life.thats his win con.one thats gives dragons he controls haste and trample....and thats it...

discard on his dragonstorm should do it. duress or thoughtseize, and some lifegain. you can respond between each storm spell, so if you get one down, and he continues to try to kill you, kill it with something like tendrils of corruption (at least you'll be positive above where it's at) and then find a creature removal spell for the karrthus, tyrant of jund (pretty sure that's the hasty one...should be no trample, though). the sadistic sacrament on their dragons can do it, and if you can gain enough life, then staying positive and damnationing away their dragons next turn can also win you the game. however, you've got to be proactive and smart on the play. that's the way black plays against decks like this.

that was the worlds list, and some cards should/are changed for extended. But you need to know your animal before you try and tame it.

also, no on really plays cards like sadistic sacrament as they are not good cards. However cards like ethersworn and meddling mage are good against the deck.

I mean, all I could say is to kill them with Doom Blade as long as it isn't Bladewing the Risen. Otherwise, you're just going to have to make a deck that's faster, like a Sanguine Bond deck.

the thing is, that when you cast the dragonstorm (t4-5) your storm count can be 3+ dealing at least 15 damage points with triple bogardan. or 10 + 17 with Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund and double bogardan.
yes, there is removal, but the deck does not rely on a single creature for the win.

and generally you get Gigadrowsed EOT, so no worries

also.....you can't counter dragonstorm people...and if your playing mono black and it isn't deathcloud, don't get upset when you loose to most other tier decks in the format; not trying to be rude but you need to understand this.

i think that the worlds list you posted is still pretty strong in this extended (it dies to dark depths, but it didn0t exxist back then). just add karthus for hasty dragons and is good to go hehe

You don't really need haste, they do 20 lol. And i don't think you loose to DD. You gigadrowse it down, then win.

ok i went 2-2 this weekend at my locals.when i played the dragon storm (2 times.once in top fours) i got wrecked the first time we played.in the top four we went 2-1.he got me first and 3rd.i didnt get a chance to duress in any of the games.but in game to i got one sadistic off and killed him because of it.sadistic was a top deck to victory.in game 3.i was swinging with a child of night and was up to 26.i was waiting for a sadistic or duress..i had tendrils in hand and 6 untapped swamps.he plays dragonstorm and gets 3 hellkites,and a karrthus.i was one swamp from victory.i could have easily killed the 3 hellkites.the karthus is what had me.
