Default mobile version of the forums

many web sites are installing mobile versions for wireless hand held devices such as the iPhone, blackberry and the Motorola droid. Is it possible to make a mobile version of MTG salvation?

example: facebook.com vs. m.facebook.com

I'm not sure if it's really needed, i can surf the sally boards on my PSP on the go as it is, and a buddy of mine can surf it on his iPhone too, so it works, why develop a program that would just do what it's already capable of doing, just "smaller"

admittedly, i'm not sure about Blackberry or the New Droid, but you'd think that if it works on PSP, and iPhone, it should work for them as well.

The idea is typically to reduce load times by cutting out the unnecessary junk. For instance, on the mobile version, we can just bar access to the Speak Your Mind forums!

We've batted the idea around actually. A few of our staff are mobile and the general
concensous is, "yeah, that'd be friggin great!" As it is, we may begin looking into
a mobile setup (best reasons listed below...).

I'm BlackBerry and it's alright. Being used to large screens it's a bit getting used to.
At this time though, our boards and devices do marry well. There are different
features that can keep you up to date in real time.

vBulletin doesn't offer any native "Mobile" access, I'd even pay for it.

I don't think there's an easy way to do this. Sadly.

Yes, it is possible, especially for a forum as widely used as vBulletin.
Examples here and here. The trick is to replace (or better: override) the CSS stylesheet, and only display what is necessary.

As a CSS Developer, I would say the fastest and dirtiest of them all is this:
Code:
* {
width: 100%;
display: none;
}
#relevant_id, .relevant_class {
display: block;
}
That'll fix about 80% of all your troubles.
