Too illustrate your point, I sat in on a small ZEN draft at a convention a weekend or two ago with 7 casual players who rarely if ever drafted. Case in point, even though they weren't bad players, I still went 3-0 (6-0 games without going below 10 life in a single game) playing, well, mono blue with a green splash. I had 40 playable cards in my colors. No one was able to evaluate blue at all.

I agree with DoJ/Lorwyn Walkers business. These are things that I feel kind of just always need to be in Standard. And if the the Lorwyn walkers are going to be the main focus of the story, it makes sense. Their abilities are pretty simple too (compared to something like Elspeth's or Chandra Ablaze's ultimates), nice as an "introduction to planeswalkers" for new players.

Whoever said that they should do the alara block 'walkers is mistaken, I do declare. At least, I don't think they would do Bolas or Tezzeret. Bolas is tricolored, and Tezzeret is too linear. If any of the Alara block walkers make it into a core set, the one that does will probably be Elspeth. I could see her possibly replacing Ajani one day (She did on Jones soda!).

Now, I may just be a simple country chicken, but if I remember correctly, a gold card in a core set is about as rare as a Baneslayer...

But at least saying "You've activated my trap card" is better than "What you, my good sir, have just done is created certain circumstances that have allowed me to play my trap card for its alternate cost, therefore I will slam it down on the table in a futile attempt to make you feel like you have made a mistake."
On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

I like being bad... it makes me happy.

QFT. Day of Judgment better be the new WoG in the fact that it is in every core set. I don't even know what to say if it isn't. If they don't want to make it core, then print it in every block. Oh wait. That would be super lame. :/ So core set it is.

Gold cards were considered for M10, so I'm sure they'll be considered again for M11 and M12. That being said, they did indicate that M11 won't be too radically different from M10, so that's a mark against possible gold cards.

They didn't even put Legends in core sets until 9th.

What would tick you off would be a card like.. Wayfinder Angel Protection from Soup Du Jour 5/5 flying, lifelink, first strike. Mythic. $40 while your Baneslayer sits in the binder.

That's not how wizards works, they will make a new angel, costs 5, 5/5, lifelink, vigilance, cascade, first strike, and shall rename it walletslayer

Yikes, so many confusions on my statement. I meant it as a joke. :P

M11 will have Plagueslayer Elf 3GG
Creature- Elf Beast
Firststrike, trample, lifelink, protection from sphinx, protection from vampires
Tap: add G to your mana pool.
5/5

And of course baneslayer angel will be removed, because wotc listens to it's customers and wants to fix the problem it caused by printing it.

Just because no red card with that ability hasn't been printed in a while doesn't mean it's out of flavor currently, unless you can cite a statement from WotC saying otherwise. Past cards: Burning Palm Efreet Goblin Sharpshooter Vertigo

Of course it will. And M11 will also feature a new card at mythic, that has all of baneslayers abilities, stats and cost plus flash, shroud, double strike and protection from goats and chickens.

Well, if they are going to make goats matter, they better reprint Goatnapper!

That and they better reprint Baneslayer. Just flood the market with that card, and the price will have to sink.
