So, I got my brother into EDH, since our local store went out of business and i've been getting all the old friends together regularly. We play casual, but there is a significantly-high power level among a few of us (we are ULTRA SPIKES, brother = not so much, more Timmy). He wanted a deck over his favorite character in Magic, and we thought the Pit fighter would not be strong enough in a 5+ EDH game. So we nabbed a green Overrunning-4/3 and ran with it.
I let him come up with the deck with my cards (he has a few decks from Odyssey-Onslaught standard as his 'new' stuff) and he complained after a few games that it's power level was not high enough. Time to revamp!
For the last few days, I have been thinking over it. I want him to still enjoy the deck (Timmy, remember?), but make it more difficult to stop or get even bigger, faster. Here's the current list:
Basically, the idea is to keep it simple enough to let him enjoy the deck without really wordy -albeit good- cards in favor of simple efficiency (Sylvan Library comes to mind). A few things I was looking to include were:
Am I pushing it too controlly? Are there some stronger beaters that would work well with Kamahl? What looks too weak for the deck?Flying defense needs addressed, but less Hurricane-esque stuff, more Silklash Spider ideas.
Lastly, I have one thing I would not like to be suggested. Kamahl + Rod of Ruin. Neat, but it is difficult to complete and keep on the board, and it is really worthless by itself (the rod). Yeah, it is LD, but it is targeted. We tried it and it just does not cut it. Thanks for reading and please leave your thoughts!

Some suggestions I would make for keeping it pretty simple and still let him just beat people up. Worldly Tutor great card, lets him get some of his bulkier stuff when he needs it. and Myojin of Life's Web just dump his hand out and full out onslaught. For some sky protection, could use Cloudthresher, 7/7 Reach, pretty nice.
Maybe its me but I would think a more efficient strategy would be more token oriented or smaller card advantage creatures that would allow him to play slightly more liniarly(sp) and once sufficient ramp is achieved casting and using his general to help everything swing for lethal. Maybe its just me but i'm kind of in the same shoes with my GF who loves angels. You dont want to give them a strategy thats inheirantly flawed (i.e. just slapping fatties on the board) because then a single *** destroys everything they worked for and dashes them in 1 fell swoop. Also Kamahls abilities shine with more creatures out... not less naturally bigger threats.

This is true and I completly forgot that Kamahl was your general. Maybe a creature to consider would be Verdant Force maybe Avenger of Zenidikar as well. I still like Gaea's Cradle for any green deck though. I doubt you'll buy it but I don't know your policy on playing with proxies either.

On the Force: good idea, forgot about him.
On Avenger: in the list

LOL don't worry about price. I'm sure either I or a friend has a spare somewhere. Just a matter of finding it.

Well, lots a little guys or a few big guys have the same reaction to ***: death.
Actually, my brother suprised me with a neat little trick when he first used it. Someone went to cast a sweeper, so in response he animated all their lands. If you could believe it, the sweeper player died soon after XD.
My biggest concern is the number of...well, im going to call them crap cards. Stuff that, though it may be effective to someone, others may see alternatives that are better. FE: he had a TON of hurricane effects to start with (more than i remember being printed lol) because he was expecting flying to be a problem. Well, if it wasn't for the "and players" part of Hurricane, it would resolve a little more. My groups decks are typically the best stuff we can find, so therefore using some meh-creatures really puts him at a disadvantage. Wanted to see if there were any really good creatures I was missing, or other things (cradle being one), as I rarely ever use my combat step outside of generals. We should be getting the group together friday, so there will definitely be an update then. I'll try to get some things tested tomorrow though. TY and any additional comments are welcome!

Also, I support this deck purely because of the general. Kamahl is the man. Someday I will also make such a deck, for now I must be content with my ping deck using Red Kamahl as a finisher.

I have been running khamal for about a year. Our decks are completely different. I do not doubt your deck because I have not seen it played, but I know for a fact I've seen 5 person scoops to mine.
Here's my suggestions: Gaea's Cradle + Rude Awakening Regal Force with Avenger of Zendikar. This can be easily pulled off with creature search or tooth and nail!
I see a lot of little beaters, I run cards that create tokens as well, but I've had better experience running cards like: Scapeshift with my rampaging baloths and avenger of zendikar, scapeshift also gets the lands out of your deck, allows you to get gaea's cradle or any other good land. Good for landfall and if you're running Life from the loam it's so awesome.
These are just some of my suggestions, (I'll post my Khamal deck soon and post a link for you). Let me know what you think of these. And I like how you run 36 lands. I found it to be most effective with green.
