Well, you could always buy a "Collector's Edition." It's much cheaper than the real thing and it's basically a cube in itself.

I'm sure they've already learned from the premium Sliver decks that if they want something to sell at $35, it needs to be a LOT better than those decks were. I'm really enjoying the deck and its a lot of fun, but their attempt next year will hopefully be better.
Your logic cannot counter my boundless pessimism!

Although slightly more seriously, if WOTC released a product like this, they'd be aiming at people who've heard how much fun it is to cube but who didn't care to pimp out a cube. Or they could always release it in all-foil, or with new artwork, tempting people who *are* pimping out cubes.

I realize that I'm painting a corner case here. I don't expect them to do this (and I really kinda hope they don't).

The sector of the market that knows enough to want to build a cube, is too lazy to build one themselves, and doesn't care about having the absolute least pimped out cube ever is ridiculously small. Even with new artwork and such, FTV foils are considered less pimp than regular foils, since regular ones are much rarer. (I believe even non-foils win, such as Beta Berserk over foil FTV Berserk)

I'm not arguing with you. I totally agree with your points. I'm just saying, I wouldn't put it past them (WOTC) to print it, is all.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the difference between an optimist and a pessimist.

For our next act, Greven and I will talk about something completely different - mana with three buttocks.

Sorry, but what is a "cube"? I've never heard this term in reference to M:TG before. O_o

from my experience. a "cube" is just an assorted collection of cards, most times, the most powerful cards in the game, but not necessarily. The main idea of a cube is to have "fun" a lot of people use it to have a lot of power in it, others put their favorite cards in it. As long as there wasn't any duplicates ANY big collection of cards can be a "cube".

I love to buy random "repacks" off of ebay and use them for sealed/drafts around my playgroups.

In fact, the less powerful the collection of cards, the more fun it is. At least in my experience.

Packaging doesn't HAVE to represent actual product in any way shape or form - people don't walk into the grocery store and get annoyed when they get home, open their bag of cat food and the cat on the package doesn't leap out.

In this case, the difference is apparently that the optimist is supporting his case with specific evidence and the pessimist is saying "I know my position doesn't really make sense, but I think it'll happen anyway."

More like "I know that it's unlikely, but I can't shake the admittedly unreasonable idea that this might happen."

I think it's a cool idea, pretty cool if they included the now worthless pain or filter lands to cut the price down.

Still be about $100 at the least.

You know, when I read this I can't help but think WOTC is like that guy in YuGiOh: The Abridged Series.
'Attention Duelists! My Hair is telling you to come and buy these trading cards!'
Anyways ... this is OK, I guess. Eh. Wish we had tourney packs.

The color hurts my eyes. I think it'll look nice next to the other Magic products though.
