This is my favorite deck for EDH and the one I've put the most time into. My playgroup doesn't like playing against it though so I don't get to play with it too much. Most of the games I've won have been just by controlling the board and everyone getting fed up with it. There is one 3 card lock in duel situations; Hanna, Ship's Navigator, Rule of Law and Decree of Silence but this deck wasn't really designed for duels and it's a lock that is easily disrupted.
I had originally built this as a challenge to use what most of my friends considered a worthless legend and make it into a counter-control deck. They seemed to believe that counters in EDH weren't worth the effort.
I'm not sure if there is a way to tweak it anymore as it runs pretty smooth now. The last change I made was to bring in Evangelize and Ivory Mask. Still I'm open to suggestions.
Well in reality all of our games start out pretty good and then just spiral out in the end. We rarely finish one through everyone dying. I don't build the strong decks like a couple of my other friends do, I built this to keep them in check and I sometimes can't even do that. My friend has a mono-black Vampire deck that is much more annoying than this to play against, as in he has multiple ways to ensure that he's the only one with creatures on the board at any time. We all have a good time regardless of what decks are being played up to a certain point and then it boils over no matter what. We've never actually finished a complete game with everyone being on good terms. It's kind of weird that it doesn't keep us from playing.
It seems like you would like to have some mana rocks to help with things like capsize, evangelism, rout, etc. I understand that you seem to be wanting to counter until you have mana to drop bombs. But absorb and swift silence are underwhelming and sol ring and gilded lotus would probably be better used in those spots.
I'm in the process of building a gwafa deck, and I'm planning on using a lot of the things that make it hard to attack me. Ghostly prison, creature that does the same thing, crawlspace, etc.
