EDIT - the deck was fun, but I sold it to a friend as his first EDH deck, so now its evolution is up to him.
Jhoira rocks. Originally, I decided not to build an EDH deck around her because my favorite card to suspend off her (Sway of the Stars) is banned. But then came the Eldrazi. I know everyone and their mother has been packing them into EDH decks, particularly Jhoira and Mayael decks, but it finally provided the incentive to build Jhoira.
I wanted it to be powerful and fun, but I made the mistake of going the suspend, Obliterate route. It was the least fun game anyone in my group had ever played. I'm not getting rid of the Obliterate effects entirely, but I want the focus elsewhere. Blue excels at Time Walk effects, and they work great with suspend, so they're in. And once I got a copy of Conquering Masticore, I remembered that theft is a slice of the color pie shared by red and blue, which gives me a new focus.
I'm looking for powerful low-budget card suggestions that don't make the game unfun. Also looking for suggestions on what to cut for any new additions. I've only played one game, so I'm not sure if it can stall long enough to hard cast many of the big ones if Jhoira gets countered/nuked.
In regard to the cards you're considering adding: Savor the Moment seems really good in a suspend deck. I think Evac should be in just about every blue deck... it's very good. Wild Ricochet is amazing.
I'm not sure you can play Jhoira without being at least somewhat douchey/painting a huge bullseye on your forehead. Suspending Eldrazi (specifically the biggest one) seems slightly overpowered to me

Yeah, I just traded for Savor the Moment last night. Evacuation actually was in, but somebody really wanted a copy, and he had stuff I wanted, so I pulled it out. I'll put one in as soon as I get another copy. As for being douchy, I suppose it is a little, but they do get to see your stuff coming ahead of time and plan to save counters, etc. Plus, if Jhoira gets Hindered or otherwise taken out, the deck is slowed to almost crippling speed. I mean, talk about a deck that really relies on its general.
I know they work well together, but Energy Chamber doesn't do anything else for the deck - none of my other artifacts use charge counters, and my one artifact creature has shroud, making the chamber a one trick pony that can't even be tutored for in a 100 card singleton deck. On the other hand, Clockspinning and my other "extra turn" cards work independent of Scepter but also help it get more counters more quickly.
To that end, I'm considering scrapping some of the Obliterate effects in favor of more Time Walk effects, but I'm not sure if it's any less annoying. Either you can't play anything because I blow up the board, or you can't play anything because it's never your turn. Is there really a difference? I guess you can at least hope it will eventually be your turn and then you can play something, as opposed to it's your turn, but unless you draw land you're going to have to discard.
And that is why Jhoira remains confused. She wants to be fun and enable big things, but she's too easy to abuse.
For example - One of these days I hope to suspend Artisan of Kozilek, cast it reanimating Kederekt Leviathan, which would clear the board right before my 10/9 Annihilator 2 pops into play with haste. Sounds like fun to me. But to my opponents...
I think I've figured out my dilemma. I traded for a copy of Conquering Manticore and then remembered that red and blue both share the theft slice of the color pie. I want to add in more of these effects, so please, give me good suggestions (budget in mind) for red and blue theft. I know I'll need another Take Possession, but what else do you like playing?
I cut Shivan Phoenix, Decree of Annihilation, and Flame Wave. I still have Obliterate and Wildfire as safety resets, but that's all the card slots I want to devote to board wipes. Now I'm looking for more suggestions on what to cut and why so I can make room for more Time Walks and theft.
I finally traded for a second copy of Lighthouse Chronologist, so I put it in in place of Willbender. I got another copy of Evacuation, but I'm not sure what to cut. Seriously, what have other Jhoira players found to work/not work? Keep in mind I want to avoid the Obliterate path most of the time. And bump on trying to find good theft cards.
