So basically, the point of this deck is to make a standard version of Elfball. I'm not sure as to how well it will hold up in the current standard but its been fun to play in casual and can hold its own if it gets one of those nice explosive starts. The deck has two wincons: the first and preferred wincon is Banefire, the second is a spinoff of Elfdrazi Green with Nissa Revane, Nissa's Chosen, and Eldrazi Monument. The list I've got is a bit janky and I haven't been able to test it properly since I am missing a number of cards (been using Workstation to test and we all know how good that is for real testing) so any input would be nice.
My sideboard is a mess, I know. Its just a bunch of cards thrown together really. Acidic Slime is pretty beast though and I've been trying to use Comet Storm as a bit of a board wipe against heavy aggro decks. Not working too well but might work.
The biggest issue with the deck is that it depends solely on Omnath staying on the field and not losing his mana pool. I would find some way to protect him. Have you thought about Bear Umbra and Canopy Cover. Think about it, Canopy cover gives you Shroud, and makes it so only things with reach and flying can block him. Bear Umbra makes it so you can survive a DOJ, and when you attack with him you get to untap all your lands and retap them again to put it into Omnath's mana pool. Do that a couple times and what you get is one explosive Banefire.

One of the Umbras seems like a good card to test with. From what I've seen, Omnath gets removed immediately before I can pump a great deal of mana into him so its not too much of a loss.
May I suggest Prophetic Prism? It lets you tap every land for green mana but still you'll be able to banefire from omnaths pool. Also Canopy Cover + Vines are really must have cards when playing with Omnath, otherwise it gets terminated all day, or pte'd or jace bounced or o-ringed or... well you get the point. Canopy Cover especially is highly underrated imo, every time I resolve one on an Omnath its pretty much game.
haha Yep
Still one of my favorite reactions at a Tourney. My friend is playing is Mono Green Beastie deck, and he has a 20 mana Omnath with a canopy cover on it, and the player to his right goes, OMNATH! WITH A CANOPY COVER! THats just evil.

Bear umbra? It's pretty dirty on Omnath and it saves him a turn unless he gets pathed.
From my understanding it doesn't stop a path because Path does not destroy the creature, it removes it from the game.
But it does stop Doom Blade, bolts, Earthqaukes, DOJ's, etc. etc.
Which is why I suggested Bear Umbra and Canopy cover. That will stop a path to exile because Canopy cover gives Omnath Shroud.

I will test it with the Bear Umbra and Canopy Cover however, I am reluctant to because that kinda nerfs the Elfdrazi portion of the deck.
From your deck list shown it is not a Elfdrazi deck. It is an Elf deck that is not depending on the elves to win. The only threatening Elves you have in your deck are the Elvish Archdruid. The others are mainly mana dorks or Nissa Fodder. You have Omnath who is going to be your primary mana reservoir for the hugely gigantic kicked Banefire. Plus it is highly perceivable to have a gigantic, ginormous Omnath as well. From what you want to do in your deck Omnath is your MVP. No questions asked.
With Elfdrazi you are relying solely on Eldrazi Monument, Overrun and your elves. But you have nothing to keep your Monument active past one turn. No token producers. Most Elfdrazi decks have ways of generating tokens. You don't. So you can afford not having the monuments in there, and find a way to protect your big guy.
Adding Canopy Cover and Bear Umbra is a no brainer. Vines of Vastwood Sideboard like you have is really going to help as well. So is the Comet storm. I would keep the Nissa out there mainly for Creature producer plus life gaining. Garruk is going to work so well with Omnath Bear umbra
Lets say you have a Bear Umbra Attached to Omnath, with 6 Forests, and a Garruk on the field. Lets say you have 6 Mana counters on Omnath. Tap the 6 forests, making Omnath a 13/13. Attack with Omnath. Untap all those forests second mainphase. Tap them again, putting 6 more mana counters on Omnath. Use Garruk's +1 untap two forests, tap them again putting two more counters on Omnath. Omnath is now a 21/21 with Shroud and DOJ defense. If you have a Mountain open you can then tap that mountain, and remove 21 counters from Omnath, cast Banefire hit your opponent for 21.
Do you see why that is deadly

I see what you mean. However, I'm not trying to use Omnath to have a big mana pool. I'm, more or less, putting a target out that demands to be removed to draw fire away from my Archdruids.
From the test games I've played (both with the enchantments and without), I have won one game using Omnath mana. I've won all the other ones using a combination of Banefire and attacking elves.

(I wasn't sure if I should post this in the mono-green archetype thread since I am trying to make it NOT mono green. Please move if its in the wrong section!)
Hey guys, I am going to be going to my very first FNM game next week, and am excited to play. I am not new to the game, but just new to not playing with friends or using MTGO.
I am currently using the exact same green Elf deck that was posted on the building on a budget archive on WoTC's website. I really like the speed and simplicity of Elf decks, and am looking forward to using it next Friday. I win more games than I lose on MTGO with this deck by far, and have just ordered all the real cards this past week.
I was thinking though, especially after playing my friend's polymorph deck that I could probably make the deck more competitive my splashing red into it. Even the building on a budget author mentions the same idea in his article.
So my question is! : What do you guys recommend adding in, to transform this from a mono-green Elf deck, to a Red/Green Elf deck? Thanks in advance!
So! Any suggestions for this deck to make it more competitive are greatly appreciated. Do you think red benefits, and if so, what substitutions should be made?
Bloodbraid Elf is the main reason to splash red. You'll get bad cascades like Llanowar Elves, but she's generally just amazing. Red also gives you Lightning Bolt and other burn which is pretty good since mono-green has no removal. You also get Raging Ravine which boosts the decks power substantially by giving you a sweeper-immune beater.
Quest for the Gemblades is not very good, and 1 Vines isn't going to do much. Garruk Wildspeaker is a better alternative to Overrun, and more Nissa would be good. Along with that, Eldrazi Monument gives you a much more reliable win-con than simply beating through blockers.
EDIT: this was @Spyther's post, threads got merged, so my post makes little sense without targetting him specifically.
Quest for the Gemblades works REALLY well with the Joraga, basically it gives all other creatures +4/+4 so it certainly can be lethal. Also, I agree Bloodbraid is a must, but I am not sure how I would rearrange the deck for red. Most things would probably cost only one red mana, so I wonder how much red land would really be necessary as well. It seems safe to assume the 3 overruns can definitely be subbed for Garruk or the Monument.
I know the Bloodbraid and the Banefires are not synergistic. But most of the other stuff is. Should Banefire be Burst Lightning? Then it could be a 4-of.
Flycops, I decided to follow your suggestions and recently ordered a LOT of cards. Maybe you guys can help me out now that I've begun ordering cards and splicing red into my elf deck. Please be as specific as possible, as right now I don't know if I am really maximizing the red in my deck, so please help with card suggestions, replacements, and mana-curve suggestions.
I spent the last few days reading up on some really fun decks that have been doing well on Daily events on MTGO. The deck was the G/R Monument decks that use token genorators to help feed the Eldrazi Monuments. The deck looks fun so I wanted to take a stab at making an elfdrazi deck with kind of the same emphasis.
So what I did was I took the whole Next Level phenonmenon and made it into an Elfdrazi deck. The key to the deck is the Synergy of Bloodbraid Elf, Vengevines. It also has the Eldrazi Monuments as a Finisher. Instead of token Generators though I am using Nissa Revane's plus 1 ability to sacrifice the Chosens to the Monument and even Vengevine itself. All the other cards in the deck serve a purpose.
I only run non creature spells in this deck main deck and all of them are 4 and over mana. So Bloodbraid Elf will always cascade into a creature. Garruk is in the deck for Monument Fodder, Ramping, and Overrun.
The sidedeck is very similar to the G/r Monument deck Sideboard. notice the Unified will tech. The cunning sparkmages are there mainly to deal with pesky mana dorks other people play. Master of the wild Hunt is a token generator, and Manabarbs is strictly for Turboland, and U/W control decks.
So while testing on Lackey and Placing 3rd at my FNM tonight the deck is doing very, very well. The side board Unified Will tech really helped out win a match today preventing an overrun for lethal, then dropping Eldrazi monument with a Vengevine, two birds, a BBE, and an Elvish Archdruid for 14 damage when he was at 12 life. The look on his face was priceless.
The deck is fast. Only real problem I have had is getting mana flooded out of nowhere which should never happen with the Fetch lands, the Oracle of Mul Daya's and Bloodbraid elves cascading, but today I lost to a mono black Vampire deck when all I needed was a Creature showing for my channeler to get lethal and on five straight turns it was lands.

This deck actually looks both extremely affordable. How has running 4 Eldrazi Monuments been working out for you? I've been testing, and 3 seems like a good number.
Also, can I recommend more fetch lands? x3 Scalding Tarns, x2-3 Verdant Catacombs?
When things aren't looking good on Mul-Daya Channelers and you want to deal damage, simply crack a fetch, fetch a land (removing the chance of more lands being revealed on the top of your deck) and turning over a new card. It's the same reason why fetches are run in Vampires, to trigger a dominant Nocturnus.

More fetches to me might be good but that is more for thinning my deck, than anything else. With Nissa, Bloodbraid Elves, Fetch Lands, and Oracle of Mul Daya, I almost always have a creature showing. It has only happened once where even after all the tricks of trying to get a creature to show I just kept drawing lands. By turn 8 I had 14 lands on the board, and this was after I bloodbraided twice, Fetched twice, got two nissa's chosen out, and Used the Play extra land trick with Oracle of Mul Daya for 6 lands. It was just horrible horrible luck.
The 4 monuments for me has been very good. I have 4 because I want to make sure I get it. Plus I have really nothing else I need to put in the deck mainboard to take it out. Eldrazi Monument has not caused me many problems at all.
But the deck really is not all THAT affordable. Running Four Rootbound Crags, two Scalding Tarns, 4 Vengevines, 4 Monuments, 3 Archdruids, 4 Birds, 5 planeswalkers, 2 Masters of the Wildhunt sideboard the deck runs close to 200 bucks at least (vengevines are 160 for a play set) But nowhere near the price of Next Level Bant, Mythic Conscription, UWr Planeswalker Control.

I find it a cheaper alternative to Jace and Gideon varieties, and I have everything except for the Vengevines. I can buy probably one or two online, and I can trade for the other two. I think I might build this.
Also, no man lands? You probably won't need them with the acceleration and Cascade, but just a thought.

I say do it. Getting a Playset of vengevines is good anyways because they are used in a lot of decks. I do agree it is a lot better price wise than playing with decks with Gideon and Jace because both of those cards kind of require buying other cards that cost quite a bit of money as well. I do love both Gideon and Jace a lot though. They just do not fit into my playstyle.
I got two of my vengevines from opening packs and I got the other two from trades. ( I had a playset of Gideon's (cracked two from boosters bought the other two when they were around 30 bucks) and in one week cracked two more from booster packs so I traded those two for two vengevines and two scalding tarns.)
Also no man lands because they come in tapped. Only reason why I do not run them. Plus I have never needed them in this deck. There has never been a time where I sat there and said, Man I can really use a Raging Ravine. The deck runs extremely fast. If I do have longer games, its because I cannot attack for lethal with all my creatures, a Ravine is not going to do much there.

A minor change would be switching arbor elves for llanowar elves, because if you don't have any forests (like having only rootbound crag + mountain), then you can't ramp with arbor elf

Mul Daya Channeler is a beater, and a Mana ramper. The Elvish Archdruid bumps all my elves up and is a ramper. Nissa's chosen is Monument Fodder. Joraga Warcaller is there to pump up the other Elves.
