Default Came over from Yugioh

I've been playing Yugioh casually off and on for the last 6-7ish years.
Recently, a large group of my Yugioh playing friends converted to Magic.
I always avoided Magic because I didn't want to get sucked into another game.
Yesterday I decided to let my friend teach me how to play, then I realized that I Really like this game.
He let me borrow a thrown together Artifact-Creature deck and I wiped the floor with him.

So I came over from Yugiohforums with the same name to learn more about the game.

I still have no idea what kind of deck, I mean, "library" I'd like to make since I still don't know basically any cards at all.

Also, please excuse any improper terminology from me, I came over from Yugioh so I'm likely to get terms mixed up.

I switched over myself about a year ago. One thing you need to get used to in Magic is there is not that one dominant deck like lucksworn or chaos. Never say holo they are foil. Say creature not monster. Blue white control most expensive deck right now until rotation. That another thing pick what format you are playing. This game is way better than YGO much more elemnts in this game.

So, Wall of Omens, how do you think you're going to affect standard? What's that, you say? You're going to slot right into an already-established UW Control archetype, and improve the deck's matchup against Jund significantly? Wow, bold words there Wall of Omens.

U/W/r is the most expensive in T2

Plainswalker control is alot more than U/W. Least last time I checked anyway :P

Welcome to Magic OP. Im sure once you've picked your format you'll find a deck to work with. Try and pick the colours that you like cards from, take a look on Gatherer and check. Though, format comes first. Nothing worse than finding a great card like Force of Will and wanting to play it in T2 :P

Does YGO have drafts/sealed events? Something Ive always wondered...

Yeah reborn you are right about UWr but I think UW better. Matter of opinion. No more stars by the way no tributes all about your mana and yoi can drop as many creatures as you want in one turn.
@reborn ygo doesn't have sealed. They're set synergy seems to intertwine with other sets not reallly standalones.

Welcome to MTGS. I made the same move from Yu-Gi-Oh to Magic and I have never looked back. It is a much better designed game with creature types that mean a lot more then being able to use X card with your creature.

Its totally dependant on the player :P

Thats a shame about sealed. Definatly something to try in Magic! And something you'll need to learn if you want to play in big tournies.

We hope you have a pleasant experiance with Magic. It can take a little while to convert to the rules of Magic, but I can assure you that it's very simple once you get the hang of it.

Welcome to magic man. Made the same switch myself awhile back. I think you'll really enjoy it here and getting used to things won't take anywhere near as long as you probably think it will.

I agree with what the other posters have said. Find your favorite colors and learn some strategies and how they work. If you're into Tournaments pick your format and roll with it.

As for combo Shalako, they do sort of. Problem is that they usually lead to OTK's and FTK's which Yugioh tries to discourage but can't really do anything about in the long run because of the way the rules are set up. Magic has more freedom there because of the mana system.

Does Yugioh even have multiplayer?
Because if not, that's another thing you'll have to get used to. Mtg Multiplayer formats are a whole lot of fun, but can be confusing to start off with.
