What was once started as a bit of a joke, turned into a summer project, and then ultimately, a labour of love. I've avoided standard all summer to build this deck, and its finally complete for now. Built and designed to commemorate my finally getting to university, every single card in this deck is foil. This has meant that whilst there may be better cards out there, this card is rather bling and special to myself.
TL;DR, Maintain board control with Ashling, search for equipment that suits your purpose, and have a blast. Multiple times.
EDH, on the other hand, is more like a monster truck rally. It's more about the spectacle than the race, the games go long, and it's not usually clear who's in the lead until there's only one truck left.*
Single player EDH is like two guys smacking each other with pillows... until one of them pulls out a shotgun.
Well you say that you search out equipment, but Hoarding Dragon is the only thing I see doing that. My first instinct is to tell you to drop one of the 56 mountains and throw a foil Godo, Bandit Warlord in there because he will search out and put an equipment directly into play.
On a side note, Tatsumasa, the Dragon's Fang was one of my favorite equiment back in the day with Godo because you get a 5/5 dragon that seems to never go away, so maybe consider adding that as well. An equipped Ashling wouldn't kill her self either when you activate her ability.
I was playing a draft match, and I had a Serra Angel out. I went to swing with it, and by accident made the motion to tap it. The other player untapped it and said:
"I know you want to tap that, but she's a respectable gal with vigilance."
My bad, I missed a space in the decklist, Godo is definitely in there, edited it now. Ima keep an eye out for a Tatsumasa, given I was thinking of adding Argentum Armour to the list when it came out, the Fang does seem to be the better choice. EDH tourny tonight so it'll be good to see the deck fully in action.

Some cards I like with Ashling: War's Toll Flamekin Harbinger(tuck insurance?) Soulbright Flamekin(go infinite with scythe+ashling, trample is nice too, especially when you can use it politically)
How has War's Toll been for you? I decided to make four cuts from my Ashling deck last night. That card is definately on my short list on new inclusions, but I'd love some experienced opinions on how it performs. It looks like makes things awkward for your opponents, but I usually find myself using half my mana to play some equipment and then leaving a bunch open for Ashling pumpage, always threatening the board wipe. It obviously messes with that plan, but maybe it's obnoxiousness is worth it?
As for some sugestions: All is Dust and Oblivion Stone both deal with red's biggest weaknes - enchantments. (Foil All is Dust would be steep tho) Gamble is always an all-star for me.
Well c'mon let's have some pictures! Soulbright Flamekin(go infinite with scythe+ashling, trample is nice too, especially when you can use it politically)
How does this combo work, exactly? I don't see how Flamekin can trigger anything infinitely since it tops off at third in a given turn.

Woah. I just clicked on Madblind Mountain. I didn't know that existed. It's quite the little piece of tech against tuck effects (well... it doesn't bail you out completely, but at least it gives you a chance). I'm getting one of those now too.
Also not seeing the infinite here. Well I've played the deck a fair few times-its a fun deck to play, pure and simple, without being overly fancy or imba. Argentum Armor did eventually make its way into the deck, and the next few purchases are going to be the Wheel of Fortune, Molten Psyche, and of course (after selling numerous body parts),Koth of the Hammer

i don't see how it's infinite, but i can see how it gets pretty good. with heartstone (a card you should add imo) it is indeed infinite (well, except that it damages you too).
1) ashling has on scythe, flamekin in play, 3 floating.
2) pay 3 into flamekin for RRRRRRRR = 8.
3) pump RRR into ashling (RRRRR = 5 floating).
4) ashling triggers and deals damage to everything, killing herself of flamekin.
5) put the scythe's trigger for ashling on the stack first, then everything else.
6) everything returns to play under your control, ashling last, and scythe is equipped to ashling.
7) repeat steps 2-6 as necessary.

Well the updated list is up, I've taken a few cards out and finally listened to voices of reason and added some artifact removal-possibly a little too much. I've also added Liquimetal Coating to help with enchantment issues. I've yet to test this version but I feel better about it than I did before.

Shattering Pulse is one of the better artifact removal spells.
Edit: Forgot this is a foil only deck, my bad...=( (How do I do the strike-through?)
Why Emrakul? You're just asking to get blown out by Bribery or some such since you really have no way of dealing with it. How often do you cast it?
Edit: I don't know how ruthless you want the deck to be, but Wake of Destruction is brutal against mono-colored ramp decks. Blood Moon is great for everything else.
For some reason our EDH meta contains one deck which contains blue, and thats my own Lorthos deck. Its really weird given how cuthroat our standard meta is, noone plays blue other than myself, so I don't worry about Bribery style effects. I've mainly put Emmie in as I'm not cheating him into play, I'm not ramping into him, and feel totally justified playing him turn 15.

I'm working on my own Ashling EDH deck so thanks for some of the ideas. People keep mentioning Scythe, and I looked up Strata Scythe... that would be good in nearly EVERY mono-colored EDH deck! It's getting added to my Ashling deck for sure. The scythe in question (Scythe of the Wretched) is also very good with Ashling in particular. Too bad I don't have one
Strata Scythe made it into my Lu Bu deck, the next tweaks are gonna be after Christmas and likely to be Strata Scythe, Wheel of Fortune, and Flamekin Harbinger.

Well, I ended up making my Ashling deck focus on dealing direct damage. As such the vast majority of cards in the deck from instants and sorceries to creatures typically have a way to directly deal damage. As such, Strata Scythe fell to the wayside. In fact the only equipment I have is Basilisk Collar.
Personally Chad, I'd find that space somewhere to put the Scythe in. However if you are going that route, I seriously recommend Talon of Pain for those times when you run out of steam. Also for anyone who's following this thread-Wheel of Fortune has finally arrived, and Koth should be here within 10 days!

Excuse the double post. Just took the deck for a run in its latest build-sadly I don't get to play as often as I want to. It took an hour to do so but eventually managed to take down Teneb, Molimo, and Geth. I've figured that its in need of more swords as they answer so much, other than that I'm rather happy with the way it runs.
