They are all very nice art works, but I went with yakusoku, because of the origianlity. You can find many panoramic lands and season cards, but I don't think I've ever seen anything like what yakusoku did. It's amazing. I can't imagine the amount of time it took to finish that.

It was a toss up for me, between Icbusybug and Ondal the Fool, both of whom I felt had the most original of the alterations. I ultimately went with Icbusybug as I just love the style, the presentation of a raw scan without digital touchup (I like seeing the brush strokes), and the feel of it being a single, well integrated, piece. Great work!

I have to admit though, I was also sorely tempted to vote for cardtransmuter's entry... I just love that game! "There will be no shame..." with those cards. Great entry!

Wow, tough choices again this week. It goes down between Icbusybug and cardkitty for me. Cardtransmuter's is funny. That game is so addictive. "Always, I want to be with you, and make believe with you, and live in harmony..." lol. Anyway, I think I'm going to go with Icbusybug's, mostly because that Brainstorm and that Scroll are just epic. It was close cardkitty. Those alters are superb.

Tough choice between Laura and Icbusybug
Love the new twist on the wastelands by Laura and the difficulty level is insane.
I really enjoy Icbusybag's brandstorm and merchant Scroll.

I would love to have these cards in my decks.
Keep up great work: Laura and Icbusybug

This is the toughest competition month I've seen.

All of these are phenomenal. Excellent work to every single one of you.

cardtransmuter, who's submission is the least "Magic-like" would be totally at home in a Rainbow Brite TCG - which is totally awesome to me.

yakusoku, while the least technically "skilled" is by far the largest undertaking, and is pretty well done. I love that it's subtle enough that you could play the entire deck and no one would know what it was.

LauraLou, as I said in the main thread, stunned me with those Wastelands.

But my vote is going to Icbusybug, because I still love that style, and because of the subtle reference to Magrite (my favorite artist), whether intentional or not.

So tempted to vote for cardtransmuter (it's a friggin' rainbow coming out of a unicorn's ass!) but I gave it to Laura Lou instead.

Nice job everyone!

I wasn't expecting to win, but neither expected to be part of the last stand (just 1 single vote!? I'm really sad. Thanks, Sandreline for caressing my injured soul.) It seems like I should improve my technique.

Regarding of my vote, I've chosen Cardkitty for the clearness of his/her/their work. Even so, something bothers me about the fact that the ruins in Academy Ruins are the ruins of the same building that's standing in Tolarian Academy (what about merging a Time Twister also? .) Anyway, this is art and there are no rules. Are there?

Also, Cardkitty, how do you make your scans? they look damly clean and colorful. I swear the colors in my entry are brighter and more colorful.

Actually Blackbull, your alters were very good as well. Like I said, the decision this month was extremely difficult. Your alters were very good, just not very original.

Thanks for the praise, really the idea for doing this was last minute and sort of inspired after a late night.
Initially it was just the Tolarian Academy (was thinking of ways to change it that did not involve just the 4 seasons). Afterward we expanded it to the Academy Ruins and then the next day thought of the Tolaria West as well, so it sort of evolved from there.

As for scanning, I have a $400 scanner, which helps. Also it's good to do some color adjustments in Photoshop since the same card can scan differently each time.

Thanks to you two and anyone who mentioned me or voted for me.

It took me relatively little time to draw a red mana symbol, using four sheets of 8.5" x 11" paper, but marking the cards did take quite awhile. Still, it took far less time than my other RED MANA project (which required take a single hole puncher to several magic cards and strategically gluing them all onto a poster board) - I spent hours after every FNM for weeks working on that one. December's contest entry I finished in a week.

I'm happy and surprised that anyone voted for mine.

One of my friends saw me working on this, then I showed him some of the other submissions before I posted and he told me, "you know, you aren't going to win." I think someone has too much "Spike" in him. You know, if you can't win, what's the point? I still had fun and considered it a success; I set out to accomplish only one thing: create an entry that encompassed the most cards. (I managed to use more cards than all other entries combined.)

alterego2 was very gentle and made a color adjustment to my entry to see how the real colors are, and it was incredibly fidel. As I told him in PM, I can't belive I didn't even tried to do it myself before posting my entry. It took me like a week to make this, and wasted it for such laziness...

Thanks, alterego2!
