This deck was originally born out a low budget and love for elves, but has long since taken on a life of it's own. The best cards are probably the ones that I already owned or traded for rather then bought. My play group thens to run Howling Mine and other such mass progression cards, so I saved the 20-50 bucks it would cost me to get a good one and instead play a little catch up.
The idea is that discard only works part of the time, so always have a way to take out the stuff that slips though. Still in development, the guiltfeeder is in the mail and I still need to replace one or two other cards I noticed I never use.
Any help is much appreciated, I just got started on my second EDH (Momir Vig) and would rather not make all the same mistakes over again.
I just recently built a deck with a similar theme in mind. A few cards you might want to think about are Words of Waste, Nightmare Void, and Geth's Grimoire. All three will help get the most out of your discard strategy.
And since you dealing with elves, and can there generate a ton of mana, I would definitely recommend Sadistic Sacrament. Getting the 10 mana together to basically gut one of your opponent's decks shouldn't be difficult.
I play this deck it can be completly deadly, but i think u definatly need Death Cloud that is the engine to my deck and it wins me the game whenever i use it because with nath it doesnt hurt you that much. usally you want to 9 mana alltogether in the death cloud so 7 discard, 7sac, and ect.

Not the first time I've seen the cloud in a Nath deck, might be time to cave and get one.
Mind Slash isn't quite as effective as Sadistic Hypnotist, but it can fulfill much of the same role - turning your tokens into discards and back into tokens.

The problem isn't with losing cards, its losing the butt ton of 1/1's and Nath, who is my primary generator. The Nether Traitor looks good for single sacing, but I'm looking for something more along the lines of Avenger of Zendikar to get me 5-10 token for fodder.

The Black Market is definitely desirable, double since tokens go to the graveyard.
And I really want to thank Wildfire for his many suggestions, I was running a Necrogenesis for a while, but never used it. I'm going to put it back in and see how it works with a playtest. The rest of these are all good cards and I may have to sub some to test them out.
Looking at some other decklists I'm wondering if this deck is a bit to unfocused. Should I have a more specific strategy? It seems most have cut the elf theme and that would open up some space... This requires further pondering.
You could go a lot of directions with a deck like this. The build I use is probably best described as an elf deck with removal and disruption. If you go in this direction, I would recommend focusing on an elf deck's ability to generate mana and then using a card like Death Cloud or Exsanguinate for the win. The other strength of a build like this is that even if your primary plans don't work out, there is always elven beatdown for the win.
One card you should keep no matter what your build becomes is Sadistic Hypnotist. That card combined with your general can generate a ton of tokens while destroying your opponent's hands.

Death Cloud is already working it's way onto my list, and I have had far too much fun with Sadistic Hypnotist to ever take him out.
On the other hand, Exsanguinate only hits one opponent and that's a big group game nono. In a 1vs.1 deck it would be killer, but eliminating one opponent just makes me a bigger target.
I've been playing around with my Nath deck, and what I am finding is that if you go with the elf theme, cards like Priest of Titania, Wirewood Channeler, and Elvish Archdruid along with things like Wirewood Lodge and Seeking of Skybreak provide you with the ability to quickly ramp up mana and play something like Death Cloud for a quick win. The problem with playing this strategy is that mass removal hurts, and I don't know what your meta game looks like. I'm sure you have to deal with it, but in the groups I tend to play with multiple wrath effects are a necessity. In either case, depending on what decks your friends are running, I'd look for ways to either disrupt their hands or bring back guys when they die.

The things that turn me off to that playstyle the most are:
1. It requires the use of a specific card to win the game in one fell swoop, until then the card(s) are next to worthless and open to removel
2. I don't find quick wins all that much fun
As for players, I know one guy who likes to run plenty of removal and a girl who loves her some control that could really mess up the whole elf strategy.
Its something I'll just have to consider. I really like lord of extinction, but not as a game winner. He tends to act as a part shield/part distraction because he will keep growing as the game progresses and that scares people.
Leyline is one of those cards that I probably wont go looking for, but if I see someone who has one I'll make the trade.
This is not an edit I wanted to make, the order with Black Market came today and I found that someone had swiped it out from under me. I got a refund, so no harm, no foul, but I had to add Necrogenesis to keep the deck playable for the time being.
Fauna Shaman is going into my new Momir Vig deck because that one is more creature based and it is much more likely to get some use, might throw in some Madness and see how that works.
Nissa just wasn't useful enough of the time and getting to her final ability was almost impossible. Nissa's Chosen will probably replaced with a better elf now that Nissa is out.
