Very interesting game, thoroughly enjoyable, thanks Seppel.
I read the spectator forum, and it was pretty entertaining, I can't believe I almost speculated wing_damages role perfectly.
Anyway, since this is my second game is there anything I can do better?
In my eyes, you're one of the strongest of the "new" batch of players we have. You're strong in your beliefs, and you explain yourself very well.
You can probably move on to more advanced things like trying to understand why people post what they do. Understanding motive behind each sentence is very crucial to scumhunting.
I guess it was fun... but not the kind of game I truly enjoy. I'm sorry I missed a big part of the game because of professional responsibilities (I have these certifications exams going on). Anyway, thanks for the opportunity!

Smile your day could be worse, so I did smile and it was worse.
Dancing Mad's first post confused me. Why claim right away that you're a power role?
I was planning on doing that before the game regardless of my role. I cribbed the idea from Azrael in Janus mafia where he joked something very similar, and correctly ID'd a scum based on their reaction to it. The scummiest reaction to the joke, in my opinion at least, is to say something along the lines of "Well, kittens are cute and I love them, but the town victory is more important than kittens." As it happened, the only one who's response I thought was at all scummy was DRey's, which was what initially caught my eye to him.
I didn't think people would take the actual claim seriously.
Except for that one flaw, this role was perfectly fine because it had a greater chance of hitting town. Like all roles in the game, they were designed to be as effective as the player's skill at Mafia.
Which was apparently not very high. Sorry Exlight.
i was really curious how you always say im scum DM, i play admitelly worse as scum, but you always are the first one to catch me

The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.

DRey, as scum, you need to work more on acting like a scumhunting townie than scum trying to pull off silly gambits. It makes you very obviously scum just by looking at one or two posts.
somehow i missed scum QT on KAM, i found it just after i died here and i found it really helpful, i can hardly wait to play as scum again using "seppel's scum guide for dummies".
lets see if i will suck less

Do you mind linking that, considering I read through KAM? Not like I'm very experienced in forum-based either;)
hahaha sure young grasshopper you have much to learn as scum too

Seppel's rules for winning as scum:
1) Always believe you're town.
2) Do not jump on bad wagons.
3) Do not overreact to one vote. Don't even acknowledge it.
4) Do not overreact to two votes.
5) Be truthful in your reads.
6) Talk to your mafia team in thread, but don't bus them unless they've severely screwed up.
7) Review your posts and think, "Would I say this as town?" If not, then don't post it.
8) Kill information roles and good players first.

Hmm, those are some good rules. I'll have to keep this in mind.
actually we cant be sure, you was replaced too early, yetyou was not under serious suspicion until your departure. but i dont believe you would play better than SL anyway.
one thing i find funny, i believe EX was not lynched mostly because of ZDS "protection", i really want to see a game where EX is scum and ZDS is town to see if ZDS can correctly identify scum EX.

After EX perma-roleblocked himself on day 2, I stopped looking at him, scum would have definitely send the drive to someone else knowing it was a town ability. Also they would have taken the opportunity to prove the truth.
On top of that there was the safety factor that if he wasn't town he had just perma roleblocked himself, meaning he was the less dangerous of the two scum.
Finally the counterclaim proves exlight as town.

surely the CC would prove anyone as town but didnt you find hilarious the time town discussed before finally agreeing to lynch red? DJ even voted on EX after the CC...
if anyone else CC on that position there would be no discussion, red would be lynched immediately, but EX was so scummy/bad town was undecided for long.
@seppel i remembered one thing that i should say to you. you mentioned before it was obvious there was no doc on this game and it was obvious some other thing i dont quite remember because on the first post you said information is everything on this game and blabla.
sometimes creators view things in a biased way. thats why the more independent reviewers a product gets the better it usually ends.
considering the level of the players that played here (and none noticed anything) i find very unlikely that anyone on this forums would notice your subtle hints.
but thats not a critique, just remember next time you mod and think something is really obvious

That's not necessarily true. In this scenario, there were two Rolecops, so he didn't counter-claim anyone, technically.
But, even still, scum have been known to counter the actual town role in an attempt to get that person killed. Obviously, that was unlikely in this case because the scum were at a vast disadvantage, but still. You can't automatically trust a counter claim.

To be fair, I totally let my emotions get to me at the end of the game. Ex had by far less tangible damning evidence against him, but he still was acting unbelievably scummy in my eyes, so I let that sway me.
On that topic:
Ehhh. Here's the thing: there was nothing scummy going on here. Sure, it didn't make sense for him to not answer the question if he was town, but that's only half the story. Why would he not answer it if he was scum? Pretty much anything you can think of there is going to sound farfetched. Hence he wasn't actually scummy, more along the lines of "weird".
You have to ask both questions, or else your case is slanted.
Admittedly, I've only been in two completed games so far, and I've been trying to read up on as many as I can. The thought process is simple to me; scum need to spin the truth to make it look scummy for town. Often this leads to situations where the scum in question can't quite validate their own claims all the way back to the beginning of the gambit if pushed with a counter-case. I've seen situations where scum were put in a position like this, and would do a subtle misdirect or "forget" to respond to a post in hopes that it would just go away on it's own. I've found that with Ex, it's easy to feed him the "right" answer if you try to attack from both sides and give him time, so i went for the full-on attack from that angle alone.
Ex was doing that like mad...the question was whether he was doing it on purpose, or just being Ex. Seems it was the latter, but I bit on it a little too hard.
hehehhe, EX is a unusual player indeed, i remember on KAM where fighting my own instincs i correctly (maybe by luck) identified him as bad town, i fear the day he is scum as i dont really think i will ever be able to vote him because i will disregard his bad/scummy plays
i totally agree with DJ here, its easy to say EX was not scummy a posteriori, but i believe all town had bad feelings about him especially after EX usb incident. if i was town i would have a hard time convincing myself to not vote him there.

two, its funny, and i really enjoy it.
It's only funny for you. Maybe you should try showing more concern for the other players, who are trying to have fun as well. Fun can be shared, you know.
if i played like you guys, it can be easily figured out if im scum or not, and thats boring.... knowing is half the battle
