Hi there, this is my classic cube, filled with only old-border cards. It's in a similar vein to wtwlf123's classic cube, so thanks to him for the inspiration. It still needs some balancing and a few missing staples, but it's been a blast to draft so far

Powered?: No.
Cube theme: All old border cards. Playing with pre-M10 rules. Damage on the stack, pump my Morphling in response. I trade for FBB and other foreign cards (in any language) for this cube when I find them.
Thanks man, yeah I don't mind using Portal, as tournament-legality isn't too much of a sticking point for me, and both Jungle Lions and Fire Imp are both cards I enjoy playing with.
Might of Oaks has played pretty well so far, considering the general size of creatures is smaller than regular cubes. Being able to get that extra 7 damage in can be really key. It may be cut in the future though, as this cube is still in very early stages.
On Icatian Javelineers, I already have a Fallen Empires one, but I really want the one with the same picture as the one on the Timeshifted Card (it's my fav), but I don't have that one from the original set.

Yeah man we've been drafting this cube exclusively for about a month or so now. Most of the new Innistrad cards that I got for my regular cube haven't even seen any play yet! People have enjoyed the switch to a cube environment without Planswalkers, equipment, as well as slightly lower power creatures and a lower density of amazing finishers.
Blue based control has been pretty strong, as well as R/G aggro/midrange. There's just so much power between R and G, and with most of the good burn still in there it's been a powerhouse.

So my classic cube isn't exactly balanced. Here are the breakdowns after counting the cards:
White 48
Blue 49
Black 55
Red 52
Green 53
Artifact 35
Land 47
Multi 28
Until I can get some more good cube cards of other colours, I really would like to cut black down by at least 3 cards, to make it at least slightly more balanced. My question is:
I guess you should cut whatever doesn't see enough play, but if you'd ask me to cut 3 cards from your black section I'd go for Spirit of the Night, Persecute and Ashes to Ashes.
And what about Restock? One mana too much for modern cubes, but seems like a good card here.

I'm looking for more creatures for this cube in general, as we've found it's a bit creature light, compared to normal cubes. Definitely looking for more blue creatures to fit in, if possible.
No problem. These types of cubes really interest me because they provide a lot of value for developing my own cube (which doesn't run walkers or a lot of the power creep cards from new sets - titans, etc.). So a lot of older cards that modern cubes reject are still good in my cube, but it's hard to find feedback on them.
A cube you might want to check out is ExpiredRascals (he's running 6th edition rules and plays a lot of older cards, so there might be something there for your cube).
Here are some more suggestions (tried to focus on creatures): Menacing Ogre
Good curve topper for agro. If you pay 2 life, you either get a 3/3 trample haste with 3 straight to the dome or you get a 5/5 trampling haste (and maybe 2 to the dome if they also paid two life). Win win either way I think. I like this guy a lot.
Desolation Giant
This guy sucks in an environment where your opponent can blink your dudes. But I don't think that's an issue in a nostalgic cube, making this guy useful in both control and agro (though less so in agro obviously). You only have 2 R/W cards, so this plugs that hole at any rate if you care about that sort of thing.
Whispers of the Muse
Expensive, but a nice splash in ramp or big mana to get reusable card draw.
Voidmage Prodigy
Not sure this is good enough without lots of wizards though. It's a great use for a post morphed willbender though.
Natural Order
Not as good without broken targets like primeval titan or woodfall primus. But even if all your doing is upgrading a no longer useful one drop to something beefier, I think it's still good (and a fun card to boot - few things stress people out like seeing this card played on a llanowar elf wondering what heinousness is about to enter play).
Faceless Butcher
Cool pseudo removal card with built in card advantage (until it dies anyway). I like this guy. It's one of black's few targeted answers to other black creatures too.

I've gone ahead and ordered a Mindless Automation, Menacing Ogre and a Restock. I can't afford another Natural Order (or a Rofellos) right now, so that'll have to wait.
Those are great suggestions for black creatures, and I think I will definitely get Faceless Butcher and Withered Wretch in there (I have them somewhere). I really need suggestions for good creatures in some of the other colours, particularly blue which really doesn't have enough imo at the moment and white (which needs more creatures for aggro to be viable).
How about Sol ring, flame rift, and glacial chasm.
Exploration would be a good ramp effect for green.

I purposely left out Sol Ring (and the other power 9) for this cube.
Flame Rift is only really playable in straight up burn decks (like in Legacy), and doesn't seem like a good fit for a cube.
Glacial Chasm is a fairly good card, but it's not really what I'm looking for in this cube at the moment, because control decks are already very good. Adding another card (alongside Maze of Ith) that only serves to make games go much longer seems like anti-fun to me.
I'm open to trying Exploration though. I have an Exploration lying around that I'll put in shortly.
Waterfront Bouncer is a pretty great card for Blue. Helps out Tempo and Reanimator decks.
Thalakos Scout is another possibility. It helps out the same archtypes as the Bouncer and can be difficult to remove.
Thanks man, I can't believe I'm not even running Waterfront Bouncer in here, considering I run it in my main cube. I'd better get one ASAP. I'll definitely get hold of a Thalakos Scout to try out too. Seems playable.
Undiscovered Paradise is a nice multiland for aggro decks that I'll definitely consider picking up next time I make an order for cards.
Oath of Druids seems fairly hard to break in a limited format, particularly in my cube. I could be wrong though. Feel free to suggest how the strategy might work and what sort of deck would want it.
Zur's Weirding seems..weird. I guess it would be good for a control player that has taken control of the game, and has some way to gain life maybe. What other situations is it good in?

If you don't want to lose a fatty I'd look at Twisted Abomination or Laquatus' Champion, I'd play those before Spirit of the Night.
An artifact creature you may consider adding is Mindless Automaton.

Graveyard hate on a solid 2/2 for 2.
Doomed Necromancer
Reanimation tool. Fragile though.

I second this card. Cycles early and provides a decent regenerating threat late. I like flexible cards in cube.
