MTG Salvation

So what I can I say about Thraximundar that hasn’t already been said...nothing. His colours are awesome, not so much red so its marginalized in the deck. The control he gives you immediately. Plus, he makes himself bigger. So, how should we improve on this guy. Well I’m not sure I’m improving but I am trying to take him in another direction. So I give you Thraximundar Super-Friends with Proliferate.



Paths To Victory:
General Damage:
Probably the most straight forward with this deck. If can keep control of the number of creatures, dropping mass removal on turn 6, Thraximundar will kill in three turns.

Poison as a strategy:
There are very few cards that with infect or that can dish out poison counters. This is not an oversight or a short coming of the deck. You only need to dish out one or two poison counter and proliferate them to death. I have won swinging once with a Viral Drake once and just using it ability turn after turn.

What about Big Daddy Jace? I think Chandra the Firebrand
would be sick in a deck like this. Makes me want to rebuild my Grixis.

But thats just how I would build Grixis superfriends lol. All the draw sevens and such cards like Winds of Change. Punish people with that Crawler!

I guess I'll have to put Timetwister in with my 'Not Here Because of $$' list same as JMS. However, Chandra the Firebrand is a card I want for the deck and have been looking for it. I do like all the Drawn-to-death cards, Phyrexian Tyranny might be interesting too, though suicidal. I've been focusing on the sacrifice element i shall give this a try.

I'm not too sure that I understand the inclusion of zombie lords. There are only three other zombies in the deck, so they really don't help that much. And if they're for pumping Thraximundar, I think equipments would work much better.

I think that you run too few planeswalkers. You have quite a few proliferate cards, and they're almost dead cards if you don't have the walkers or one of your 2 infect creatures out (pumping thrax really isn't that great) . I think you should put in all of the semi-relevant walkers in the right colours. The Jaces, the Chandras, Sorin Markov, Liliana of the Veil

As far as the zombie lords go Zombie Master gives Thraximundar swampwalk and regenerate plus I'm using Urgborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, so I end up with an unblockable creature killing machine. The Death Baron is actually part of a machine gun combo with Deathbringer Thoctar plus it also gives Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon deathtouch and a boost as well. Not entirely sure if its worth it but it'll be funny if/when I set it off.

On to planeswalkers, most of my semi-relavant walkers that I own are already in there. Chandra, the Firebrand,Sarkahn the Mad and Sorrin Markov (I forgot his middle ability is just to cheap for me) will go in just as soon as I can get a hold of them. Lilliana of the Veil is already in. I do have Chandra 1.0 and Lilliana 1.0 i can add. Is it worth it?

Planeswalkers aren't the only targets for proliferate, though they're the main ones. Viral Drake, Deathbringer thoctar, Lightening Reaver, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon , Ichor Rats, Blood Tyrant, Coalition Relic, Everflowing Chalice, Corrupted Conscience, Tainted Strike, Black Sun's Zenith, Incremental Blight,Dreadship Reef and Molten Slagheap all benefit from the proliferate strategy.

That's my thinking anyway. I'm going to tweek the deck sometime this week stay tuned for updates.

This is just another fun way to build a Grixis deck. Our playgroup allows proxys so I sometimes forget not to suggest just the best cards. I like your theme too was just sharing my favorite. Post if you make some changes.

Another powerful strategy when using planeswalkers is taking additional turns. Magistrate's scepter fits perfectly into your proliferate theme. Beacon of tomorrows paired with Liliana vess and 2 proliferates a turn can give you infinite turns, add in some extra card draw and your in business.

Magistrate's Scepter me likey! The Beacon of Tomorrows Liliana Vess is just hard enough to pull off that I won't be accused of being a cheap SOB.
