Not much new here except maybe the confirmation that they'll again have brand new non-reprint cards in the core set.

Actually if they make the DBT a yearly annual updated thing, so now it'll come with boosters and cards from the Innistrad block and M13 (so they'll be good in Standard for a year) that's a very good thing.

I'm surprised the battlepacks made it. They didn't seem to do so hot at most stores.

And last year they were released on August 12th, giving them only a month and a half of life before the Standard rotated out. Hopefully the M13 event decks will be better thought out.

It always surprised me that they didn't, but maybe it's because I'm not a retailer.

I thought stores might buy them and use them as promotional items. They'd be a great way to teach 2 new players how to play and give them a few cards to start building a deck with.

I know where I am they retailed for ~$10, which I'm guessing made cost on them somewhere around the $6 mark. Divide that in half because you get to introduce 2 new players to the game.

So for ~$3 you could introduce a player to the game, give them a deck to play with their other friend at the kitchen table, and tell them that they're halfway to an FNM playable deck. If they want to buy a few boosters, or an event deck or something and come back and play, they're more than welcome.

Seemed like a relatively cheap way to promote the game to me.

Those Celebration packs were loaded. Nearly every pack that got opened in the lgs I was at had a foil or mythic. Can't wait.

M2012 wasn't as exciting as M2011. Hopefully they will spice it up a little and include a few cool new cards and rotate a few cards *cough* titans *cough*
