So I downloaded FBdownloader so I could get some cash, and it ended up installing a program called MTRS 2.0 1.0 that I can't uninstall, and it disables AdBlock Plus. How do I get rid of it?

I have been trying to watch videos on Channelfireball's website using Firefox. I keep getting the following error message:
This video stream is currently unavailable. Please try again later. error code: PE_FMS_CONNECT_FAILED I made sure my plugins were all up to date then when that failed I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. If anyone has experienced and resolved this problem or knows how to resolve it any help would be great. Oh yeah, I can get it work in other browsers but no other browser properly blocks embedded video ads. Edit: NVM it is just the newest version of FF. Version 9.1 has a bug preventing embeded videos from playing. 9.0 still works properly. Last edited by Mr_shank; 01-13-2012 at 03:45 AM. |

I've got a 2.5 year old self built desktop with a Geforce 8800GT. My friends recently have started playing World of Tanks and want me to play with them, but after a couple 5 min matches the video freezes and crashes my system requiring a hard reboot.
My system is way above the minimum specs and I found a lot of info about crashes, but none of them sound the way mine does. I updated drivers on both my MB and Video Card last night, but it didn't really help. I went to pull the video card out and it was blazing hot (like I needed a potholder to pull it hot). I had just dusted it out and the fan is running, but I'm thinking that much heat is a sign of a problem. I haven't played any other games except MTGO on it and that runs without a problem. When we pulled the card I started the game using the onboard video and although the FPS was horrible even on the lowest setting it never crashed which is why I'm thinking I've got a problem with my card. Is the next step basically get a new graphics card and see if I continue to have problems?

That seems to be the case. Video cards (old or new) aren't meant to be that hot. MTGO doesn't take a lot to run (so I've heard) so that might be the reason why that runs it without any problems. Is there a friend who has a card that you can talk into borrowing it? It would suck to buy a new card just to have it be something else.

Hey guys, I've had my Sony Vaio laptop for a couple of years now. Recently, the tip of the charger that connects into my laptop has started getting VERY hot, but only sometimes. My battery still charges in a reasonable amount of time, holds a charge fine, etc. I didn't even notice it until I unplugged the laptop to take it into the kitchen for a recipe and dropped the tip on my foot. Is this something I should be worried about or is something I have somehow missed for the last couple years that isn't a big deal?
Edit: After unplugging the laptop, it takes less time than it took me to post this thread for the charger tip to go back to room temp.

So recently my mom's HP m8430f's harddrive failed (wouldn't boot up windows properly and obvious thrashing was heard from inside of the drive). While installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 after swapping out the damaged drive for a new one, I've arrived at the following error
Spoiler:
This is an issue because this happens before I finish completing the installation for Windows 7 so I can't boot up in safe mode, and this is much before I can install the video card's drivers on it. How can I solve this issue? Last edited by Confuzzled; 05-18-2012 at 11:02 PM. |

New Question: I recently had to reinstall windows and now I'm getting BOOTMRG NOT FOUND errors when loading. I read that I could repair these using my windows install disk, but its not working. (It first tried to auto repair, then I did a manual repair, then I did cmd and a repair command to repair the boot sequence. None of that works. I still need my windows disk to reboot my computer. (It loads just fine from the HD as long as the windows disk is in there). Is this possibly a BIOS sequence issue? This windows install didn't go so well, but even though everything is backed up I don't really want to do a full wipe again. Thoughts?

Ok, I have a couple questions that hopefully someone may have an answer for. I'm not a professional at computer tech, but I can understand most things about a computer, so don't be afraid to use computer lingo. This is for a Dell desktop running Windows XP Professional Version 2 w/ Service Pack 3. It is a work computer used for a Ford parts department. I would just have our IT guy fix it, but the guy is never around and, quite frankly, doesn't seem to know what he is doing.
1. This one computer we have is being a nightmare for me. The one issue we found first was that it doesn't want to bring the Yahoo homepage on Internet Explorer. We can get to Yahoo News, Yahoo Sports, all the other parts of Yahoo by typing the appropriate URL into the address bar, but when we simply try typing in "http://www.yahoo.com" it sits there for about 30 seconds and then displays a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" without any other error messages going up with it. Any ideas as to why it does this and how to fix it? I wouldn't worry about it too much, but it is for my manager's computer. 2. The other problem this computer is having is that it doesn't want to print alot of things. We found this out when our parts catalog didn't want to print anything, the we tested an internet page and that didn't print. The print jobs simply sit in the print queue and not do anything. However, there are still programs that will print without any problem, such as our invoicing program. Any clues as to what may be causing this printing error?

To the second one- It could be a connection error, maybe a loose plug on either end. Possibly frayed? Also, if you restart your printer, clear the printer queue, and retry, it might send it through. Try those suggestions and see how/if they work.

can anyone tell me if I can fix it myself ? edit: never mind, my problem was fixed, just left it off for a while Last edited by motleyslayer; 06-29-2012 at 08:11 PM. |

IM assuming you have tried re installing, if its bunny hopping from the windows, it most likely means the boot sector (the bit the bios reads first before deciding where to go, well kinda but its easier to explain it that way) is broken, fixing it is doable but is pretty complex if the windows disk wont do it, reinstall if you haven't already, if you have you need to download a hiren image, burn it and test the hdd and see if it is at fault. If its saying bootmanager isn't found, it can see the hdd, just not the right instructions Quote:
go to internet options -> advanced tab -> reset (make sure delete personal is clicked) go to internet options -> connections -> lan settings, make sure automatic detect is clicked and no infomation is in the fields (baring a single 80) ignore this one if your behind a secure firewall, witha business server/switch. you can also do other things like go to bleeping computer grab combofix.exe, make sure you disable your AV while you run it. After that, its about as complex as we can really get on a forum before I start asking you for hijackthis logs Quote:

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place, so if I'm not, someone tell me!
Let me preface this by saying that I am cursed when it comes to technology. Computers do not like working for me, particularly when it comes to gaming. It's just a fact of my life and I've come to accept that I'll never play a game on PC without a huge number of issues impeding my experience. My desktop has recently taken a turn for the worse. When I turn it on and log in, I'm able to get maybe minutes of use out of it before one of two things happens: either it bluescreens, or the display goes black and will not turn back on. If these things don't happen in the first few minutes, then I'm fine and can continue using it, but they usually do. This seems to be unrelated to my computer's tendency to fill up with dust and turn itself off (a problem I've never had with another computer), but perhaps these two things are linked. I normally have to clean it out every few months, but these symptoms are different. I don't know if this is relevant information or not, but this computer has also declined in its ability to play video games. It used to run Skyrim alright on medium-ish settings, though it always had a problem where it would cycle through periods of intense, unplayable slowdown. That problem has gotten worse, and now I can't play Skyrim at all, even on the lowest setting, because the slowdown is almost constant. The problem seems to have extended to other games: I recently tried playing From Dust, and it has the same issue. Please help me.
