I played him a long time ago. Basically it's one of those cards you just win with if you untap with him. The if is the key here, as he have a pretty low P/T and no cheap protection for 6 mana.
I feel he would be better if he could beat and draw at the same time. Something like letting you draw three cards during your upkeep without having to tap him. As it is, consecrated sphinx is much better than him, though Arcanis does have combo potential with untap stuff. Then again would you want to pay 6 for such a combo piece?
He was in my cube when I first put it together. I'm not sure if we ever drafted with him though. I remember early on that my blue finishers ended up being Morphling, Meloku, Sphinx of Jwar Isle, Keiga and Palinchron.
Obviously Arcanis is fantastic if you ever untap with him. I think Consecrated Sphinx blows Arcanis out of the water these days though, due to:
-Having an easier casting cost.
-You get to draw two cards before they can cast any other creatures/sorceries (i.e. much easier to reliably get value out of it before it dies)
-Flying and way better P/T stats.
Arcanis the Omnipotent
I like this card a lot, but I don't think it's quite good enough for the cube. Does anyone have experience with him/her/it?
