You take Macius over to the man in the Armani suit. "She wants to shoot you, too," Wuffles says gleefully. You scurry away as you wait for him to do your dirty work.
Fifteen minutes later, Vincent and Macius walk back, chatting and grinning. "I'm glad you brought this fine lady over; she's quite the character."
Then the man in the Armani suit walks up behind Macius and shoots her in the head.
"What the hell, David?!" Vincent shouts, wiping yet more blood spatter off his face. The man in the Armani suit only shrugs.
Monica Epstein - Town Vote Manager
A few weeks ago, you watched a year of hard work melt into water. Literally.
You worked for a local politician with a bit of an ego, campaigning for the State Assembly. For eleven months, polls showed him with a slim but significant lead over his opponent. He took that small lead as a sign of his imminent election - politically and religiously, it seemed - and boasted about his future successes to all who would listen. Usually, this meant his overworked, underpaid, cynical, hypercaffeinated staff, including you, his manager. You would usually smile slightly and return to your work. No sense in endangering your job by telling your boss he has a hubris problem.
Two weeks before the election, the polls flipped. The candidate bad-mouthed a local organic co-op, and his opponent pounced on him for attacking local business. But he assured you it was a blip. So he went ahead with his election celebration plans - a rented-out hotel ballroom, complete with an ice elephant statue. All that night, as you and the other staffers worked the phones and eyed CNN, he stood by that statue, taking pictures, schmoozing, and running his drunken hands over the statue, talking excitedly about the level of detail. And under the heat in the room, the elephant began to slowly shrink - its trunk narrowed, its back tightened, its legs thinned. The creature seemed almost to be starving to death.
Unsurprisingly to you, the polls held, and your candidate fell by two points. As you turned to him, grimacing, and gave the bad news, his smile seemed to crack and splinter at the lines of the edges of his lips. At that moment, over his shoulder, you watched the heavy trunk of the elephant, weakened by the heat, separate and collapse upon the table with a bang that caused every head to turn to where you two stood.
He shouted, he stomped, he accused the opponent of fraud and abuse and more than a few felonies. You didn’t care. You had moved on to the next crusade. So local politics may be a little small, and maybe the mafia have a bit too much power. As long as they don’t bring any frozen sculptures, you think you’ll be alright.
ABILITIES: Follow the Leader (P/D/P) - You have a second vote, but you may not use it - you may only proxy that vote to other players.
For One More Day (A/N/1) - The game cannot be shut down tomorrow.
As the last of you turn to try to catch a few moment's sleep before returning to the slaughter, the man in the Armani suit steps away from Macius's body, untouched by all, and walks to a shuttered window in the room. He draws it open with an absent hand, revealing the early light streaming over the city.
Vincent groans. "C'mon, David. Can I get a moment of darkness to sleep? Hell, don't you need to sleep?"
The man in the Armani suit shakes his unturned head. Outside, people began to move about their days. He imagines for a moment the little lines beneath their feet tracing their paths, and every path they had taken before, moving through their days. How many times, he wonders, might those lines be the same. And then if we saw the line? Would be keep following the same course, if we were cognizant it's the same dead end? Or perhaps we're always cognizant, yet we run toward the dead end, embracing its cold simplicity. No more movements, or struggles.
Maybe at one point he imagined he could lead a simpler life. There was that time, on Martha's Vineyard long ago, when he thought he could ignore his father and Sigma's idle criminal conversations and run along the beaches and shout in joy. With the girl at his side... but he had to follow his father, he knew, or he believed. He couldn't abandon that duty. And then Los Angeles, and then a decade of solemn crime. The bodies didn't haunt him, even after so many - he had long since stopped caring about the untraced paths of the dead. But his own fate, his own lines, traced idly away from him, leading him too toward the end...
When he slept, occasionally, he had the same little flickering dream. A woman stands in an arbor, shrouded by a long maroon robe, her face hidden but little strands of her long golden hair flicking out to touch the swirling breezes, and from the robe she reaches out a hand toward him, toward where he stands on the precipice, between the dark grove and the small light within. He never stayed under long enough to see where he went, but in his small heart of hearts he had an inkling... But something to dream, more than nothing to believe...
"What are we even doing here, David?" Vincent asks, lying uncomfortably on two chairs, his right arm wrapped around his head like a pillow. "You and I know the case hasn't left, and if it leaves we will know where it goes. And all the people killed..."
"Never known you to abhor violence, Vincent," the man in the Armani suit softly said.
"Yeah, well, there's productive violence, and... this." He gestured out to the bloodied cafeteria, and Macius's still body, with his free arm. The man in the Armani suit didn't turn. "Which... well, you never told me about what happened at Techra... was..."
"More of the same."
"Christ," Vincent exhaled sharply, raising himself up. "You're a mess, you know that. You don't need to take these goddamn jobs, and you and I both know you're probably not going to walk away from one of them. What's it been, ten years now since Alpha died?" At the mention of his father, the man in the Armani suit turned to face his partner. "You have more talent than anyone at this organization, but that doesn't mean it's right to waste your nine cat's lives on destroying others to chip at yourself.
"I mean, think of the kid! She's your responsibility, whether you like it or not. She looks up to you, and she cares about you, deeply, and so do I. And then you put yourself, and her, in danger, for what?"
"Where is Kasey anyway?" the man in the Armani suit said quietly, staring at Vincent's eyes.
"She's..." Vincent gestures randomly, then stops. "I... dunno." He smiles slightly. "She always was good at hiding. Even better than you were, back in the day. I'm sure..."
A scream blisters the air. The man in the Armani suit serenely turns and walks toward the sound, leaving Vincent behind to rub his eyes.
And all the remonstrations. It wasn't like she didn't know what she was getting into. Cute kid, deserves a good fate, but she wants adventure, she courts disaster. As did he, once. So perhaps it was inescapable... another series of black lines stretching forward to the horizon. And father before, and his father, one big black line, chasing each before it, and followed by another, unwinding through history. Maybe once he could break from his path, but now his feet sink into the ground and the only direction is forward, and down.
The remaining residents crowd around a body lying in the middle of the hallway - Archonoid's. She's clutching a piece of paper in her hand, but its words have melted behind the blood pooling from her mouth, and below. One of the living with a stronger stomach gingerly taps at her belly, and recoils in horror. "There's... nothing there. No organs at all..."
Without acknowledging his presence, the man in the Armani suit turns away and examines the remaining crowd. One's still missing. He turns and walks through the empty halls in search of the body. The few windows and skylights have begun to let in trickles of light, which pools on the floor, or shines on the lockers lining the hall. He turns a corner, and...
In one of those pools of light lies a body. KittyCupCake's. She's been cut to ribbons, blood flowing across every gouge and slash in her frame, forming a deep red pool in the light, already darkening, clotting. But something's not right. He steps closer, to the edge of the light, and leans in to see her face. It's lined with scratches, too, but the eyes are unmistakable.
"K-kay..." he stammers. His serenity cracks.
The girl. The boy. The pool of narrow light.
Vincent comes up behind him, panting. "Did you see the body over there? Every organ ruptu..." He sees the body and his breath falls away. "No. No, no, it can't."
The man in the Armani suit says nothing. He reaches out a hand to touch hers, still impossibly white, with her fingertips dripping red.
Behind him, Vincent turns and ferociously kicks a locker, which caves in. He swears loudly, and clutches his ankle. Putting it down gingerly on the floor, he grabs the back of the man in the Armani suit's jacket. "You see! This is what happens! You selfish..."
But his words are far away. Without a word, without a breath, the man in the Armani suit shrugs his shoulders, releasing Vincent's hands. Removing his suit jacket, he wraps up Kasey's body. Without blood, it feels too small in his arms. Memories rush to him... of that time... and her, and that dream...
And he lifts her up, and with Vincent behind, carries her back into the lingering dark.
Kasey Rose Larin - Neutral Mastermind
You burst from the room, hand clasped over your mouth. The same eight frames flash through your mind - a flash, and a burst of blood. Shoulder-first, you barrel through the door into the women’s restroom and start splashing water on your face. Your hair is quickly soaked, and you stare at yourself, trying to maintain what little remains of your composure.
You knew the risks with him. Vincent had told you stories about David’s history when he first became your mentor. But he refused to talk about his first kills, in Los Angeles, or what precipitated them. Vincent just looked over your shoulder for a long time, and his jaw tightened, and he said, “It’s like having sex, K. You’d rather forget your first time. Leave it to the lesser version of you in the past.” And that was supposed to be enough. He never noted that perhaps the two men, of the past and the present, were one and the same...
The Associated Press seemed like a good idea when you first joined a year ago. They recruited you at Brown, under the auspices of international journalism. After the first few interviews, they told you what they really did, noting that they sought individuals with the “aptitude for our particular business” and a “unique set of skills.” And you thought it a grand adventure. But now you aren’t sure you can do this job, or sleep aga-
An old woman walks into the room and starts when she sees you. “Oh, I’m sorry, dear. Are you okay? That was quite a shock in there!”
Immediately, your training shoves a thought to the front of your mind - she doesn’t recognize you. “You... you weren’t shocked...”
“Oh, no, dear.” The old woman grins mischievously. “I shot my first husband when he came at me with a knife. Everyone sees these things sometimes.” She removes a tissue from her bag, and gives it to you. “Why don’t you come with me? You look like you could use some coffee. My son makes the best coffee in Queens!”
Immediately, your character falls into place. Sniffing, you take her hand, and she leads you from the room. Your mind races with the possibilities - if you can connect people with David, maybe you can end this without more bloodshed. As you step into the room, you see David and Vincent at the front of the room. They see you enter, and David catches your eye, but you shake your head and they turn away, returning to their inquiries, as you join your new people.
ABILITIES: Illusion (T/N/P) - Send in the name of a player and describe something you wish to happen to that player. The mod will include that event in that player’s flavor for the night. (You may be as specific as you wish, so long as I can make it work.)
Voice of Reason (A/D/P) - Send a message to the mod of no more than 100 words. The mod will post that message exactly as is, as if it came from him. You may also vote under the mod’s name in this way (the mod may not vote for shutdown). You may use this ability up to five times each day.
AWC - Get a player to target the mod with an ability. (You will be informed when this happens.)
Hanna Kells - Neutral Spy
The briefing was short and direct. Gather intelligence on the locals to identify potential inroads for future intelligence assets for tactical acquisitions. The entire thing behind a thick cloud of jargon. But it had the look of a bureaucrat’s handiwork. Many words, and every one of them foreign.
Your mother had been a spy, in the old days... in the old world. Back then, the war was simple - you knew the enemy, and he knew you; the assets knew you and happily came to you with information to get out of the miserable quality of their lives; and even if occasionally someone got shot for it, well, they were doing their duty to their country. She inspired you at the time. A powerful woman, stern but ultimately loving, and you sought to follow her path.
But the game is now one played among shadows. You don’t know the enemy, because you don’t know what the Company wants. Since you don’t know the enemy, you don’t know what intelligence you need; since you don’t know what intelligence you need, you don’t know who to ask. The cloak and dagger is now a shot in the dark. So sometimes you don’t give real information. Nobody’s perfect at their job.
But what scares you is, sometimes, when your supervisor drops a briefing on your desk about the latest drone strike. Suspected terrorist training facility in the Catskills hit by an Avenger, based on classified intelligence. You wonder where that intelligence came from. Whether it was real. For a moment...
There’s no risk here, though. Just reconnaissance on some suspected terrorist cells. And when those three people burst into this place, and shot that guy, you knew you were on the right track. There’s something very wrong here. Right?
ABILITIES: Talk to Me (T/N/P) - Send in the name of two players. For each of those players, if that player is a townie, he or she will be invited to a communication group in which you may communicate with the players who accept the invitation. (If a player rejects the invitation, you will still learn he or she is a townie.) PM the mod an email address which he may use to add you to this group.
Dossiers (A/N/P) - Send in a list of players, living or dead. If you correctly identify all the townies in the game, you will gain a point and an additional ability. (You will not learn what mistakes you made in the list if it is wrong.)

Thats odd. What sense is that? unless your lying or GD blocked you. If not its between,
Emo Pinata
EronTheRelentless
Wuffles_II
So....Start with Emo or GD?
Just want to jump in here and remind everyone of the Guardman ability. We had two people that had met their AWC if the game were to end. We know that Zionite was one of them. We also know that TCM was lying. Based on that information and all of the dead neutrals AWC's, unless someone wants to counterclaim you can deduce that my AWC is in fact just surviving.
I am more interested in Emo at this point, as giving an SK the recruit ability doesn't feel right to me.
Well, scratch that last part, because the word isn't really a recruit. So I guess I'm up for either. Finding an SK seems a lot harder as there's no ties to anyone to slip up on.

I killed KCC by roleblocking Eron (a survivor, but the ability required me to roleblock a "cultist").
1. Archmage Eternal (confirmed via Arch)
2. Emo Pinata (confirmed via Guard)
3. EronTheRelentless (confirmed via Guard)
4. ganderin_dan
5. infectiousbaloth (Confirmed via Arch)
6. Iso
7. Wuffles_II
So, myself, Iso & Wuffles are the three unconfirmed. Unless you think an SK was given a toughguy kill and the ability to control votes (which I still currently have), as well as having 5 other confirmed, alive people recruited in my google group, then I think I'm fairly confirmed.
Wuffles has claimed to have motivated Tordeck, Iso & myself, and I can confirm that I recruited twice when motivated, as I added EP & Eron to the group at the same time on Night 3. So I'll confirm that. He also revealed that the reason there was so many deaths that night was because Tordeck's initially motivated chronoshift expired.
Iso is all that's left. Feel free to refute me where I'm wrong, but I'm going off of mod-confirmed information in my assumptions.
Also, Eron can confirmed he had to A) forcibly kill KCC and B) was roleblocked, and I am also currently un-NKable (the ability I gained from completing my AWC).
Iso, I'll assume you didn't complete your AWC last night? Want to tell us your guesses?

This is fair. I forgot that Zionite's AWC was just he+lover surviving. I'm more interested in EP as well, at this point. Unvote

Just to clarify, you were "recruited." Spreading "the word" to people not in our google group is just marking people for my AWC.
Are there any more questions about my role/array of abilities? Alternatively, does anyone in the google group want (me) to publicize information from it that isn't already, from myself or otherwise?

All cards on the table here.
Right - got confused between your recruit and then people inside the group spreading the word.
I can't post my guess last Night until I get to my computer which may not be for a day or two but basically I ran the previous Neutral list with KCC off of it and once I successfully sent my first list in Xyre would have asked me for my second one had I been able to do anything last Night. So as it stands I can not confirm that Wuffs motivated me last Night. I can, however, confirm that my win con is almost identical to Archonoid's, which my phrasing from the previous Day will confirm. In addition, I have been fundamental in taking down the mafia (though I guess that is not particularly relevant here), and as I said, I would have killed Wuffs the Night he motivated me after he said he was targeting Tordeck if I were the SK. I have been playing exactly as one with my win con would play and that is undeniable. That's my defense. Also, I would not put it past Xyre to make an SK that gets stronger over time to make everyone have more motivation to lynch them early by warning of them in the OP - plus it combines the 2 classic anti-town Neutrals: Cultist and SK. With Arch and I both basically being mass Cops, it would make sense to me that the SK would have a lot of protection. So yes, I do believe that you could still be the SK, dan. But I can support the Emo lynch because he is still not-me and not really confirmed.
Just a heads-up that we should all probably be really careful in the next few Days.

Good day one and all. Today's count of those who have won is deuce.
This came at the beginning of Day 2, after Zionite was already dead. TCM, EP & Eron had all claimed to have fulfilled their win conditions at that point. With TCM lying, and Guardman's flip confirming his claim, EP & Eron are confirmed.
So it's between me, Wuffles & Iso. And I have no idea why an SK would be able to motivate.
If Iso isn't lynched today, and is the SK, his triplevote will begin machine-gunning players down the second he is able to log on at the start of the Day, since it will only take 3 to lynch (assuming someone dies toNight, when we lynch someone else in this scenario).
Fearmongering, granted, but an accurate statement nonetheless.

You think that I am a triple voting SK who is immune to both town and mafia abilities who needlessly put their ass on the line to get scum lynched at the beginning of the game, came into the game with the idea that I was going to falseclaim a win condition that was almost identical to another player's AND guessed the phrasing perfectly, I didn't take a free kill opportunity, and I risked my in-game life to just coincidentally guess that Macius was town and not a Neutral like everyone thought he was claiming, and I let you complete your win con knowing full well it would inject lots of anti-SK information into the game and potentially make you a threat?

I wouldn't kill the guy that's repeatedly motivating me, considering that would confirm me a the SK when an extra kill takes place.
You could gather Macius' alignment from a number of in-thread lines of thought. His role, which we discussed in the google group as one that was likely to be town. The implosion/near-replacement, an action that screamed frustrated town.
However, you being an SK with protection, while I also funnel you information through that same google group, knowing I have no actual way of eliminating you from the game (considering I didn't shoot you, and never had any intentions of doing so). And being able to end the game sooner than later with the "super cops" that you're aware we have seems very reasonable. I don't find these things that unlikely.
If you have no intentions of double/triple voting for the rest of the game, proxy those votes away.
And, to flip your logic back around, you think I am a recruiting SK that has a toughguy shot, the ability to control a day's worth of votes, and unkillability? And instead of just killing the best case-pusher left in the game with one of my two methods of doing so, and the person most likely to be able to lynch me with a triplevote towards endgame, I direct a motivator to try and help you complete your AWC as opposed to shooting a second target?
Given, again, that Wuffs said he was motivating Tordeck the first Night he motivated me, that does not explain why I would not have killed him. As for Macius's alignment, that did not come into play until after I announced that Macius was not a Neutral. In addition, you still have a vote control. Why wouldn't you want a triple voter alive in your group in the endgame? Especially since I didn't even suspect you until recently. Why wouldn't you want who you claim to be the best pusher is on your side? I will not be proxying out my votes. I have already explained why I think your ability makes sense as SK. But the biggest incriminator IMO is the ridiculous case you are pushing on me when all evidence points to me not being the SK. Also, mechanic-wise, the Word is not considered an ability or KCC would have won. So I would believe that you can use your cult-gained abilities and kill in the same Night. Who better to control the flow of info than the SK?

iso, you don't have 3 votes anymore or you do? If you do proxy them to either me or infect. Also whats the sense of not lynching you today to just do it tomorrow? Either why you lose correct? What gives?
How does this proxy vote work? Can everyone do it? If so, King me or infect? You guys willing to give up your votes to the town? You know I'm trying to have as much of you win with us by not shooting anymore.
Whoever blocked me last Night took my votes with them.
If you lynch me on the next Day I can at least try to use this Night to either confirm dan as the SK or figure out if there are some Xyre shenanigans going on. I haven't outlived my usefulness yet.

I use it during Night, and I control them the following Day. If they are placed before I use them, they still count.
I did confirm that I can't use my recruitment & non-recruiting abilities in the same night with Xyre, and in the google group. Otherwise KCC would've been dead 2 days ago.
The only better person to control information flow is... the cult leader.
Iso, why did you want to be perceived as a threat? If you died before (or even after, but I'll ignore that for now) completing your AWC, you lose, so what's the motivation for that?
If you just happen to not have your votes today as a temporary effect, then we still lose, and if we lynch you today, then I lynch Wuffles tomorrow and the SK is still not a known quantity, then the town+confirmed neutrals that remain will lynch me the day after that.
I appreciate the offer, but lynching you first is the safest play.
But that's the thing - it's not the safest play. You have been presented a situation where you win if you are not the SK. Use your vote control toNight and if I try anything, you still have the power to lynch me. What do you have to lose? It's not like I can win at this point anyway, no matter what I do.

ABILITIES:
Illusion (T/N/P) - Send in the name of a player and describe something you wish to happen to that player.
Right?
ABILITIES:
Talk to Me (T/N/P) - Send in the name of two players.
AWC - Gain a point.
Seven alive. Four to lynch or shutdown.

AE, will you shoot toNight? I can't check the postcount - who has posted the least?

Vote: Iso
Iso, I'll assume you didn't complete your AWC last night? Want to tell us your guesses?
This is fair. I forgot that Zionite's AWC was just he+lover surviving. I'm more interested in EP as well, at this point.

Just a heads-up that we should all probably be really careful in the next few Days.

Vote: Iso
If Iso isn't lynched today, and is the SK, his triplevote will begin machine-gunning players down the second he is able to log on at the start of the Day, since it will only take 3 to lynch (assuming someone dies toNight, when we lynch someone else in this scenario).
Fearmongering, granted, but an accurate statement nonetheless.
Stifle discussion and all that.
But fair enough about EP.
Unvote, Vote dan
I have no intention of triple voting for the rest of the game. Or even double voting.
So dan, if I'm the SK why isn't Wuffles dead? Do you really think I wouldn't have taken that chance to kill him off?
Also, how did I know Macius was not a Neutral?

Bear with me on this.
You think that I am a triple voting SK who is immune to both town and mafia abilities who needlessly put their ass on the line to get scum lynched at the beginning of the game, came into the game with the idea that I was going to falseclaim a win condition that was almost identical to another player's AND guessed the phrasing perfectly, I didn't take a free kill opportunity, and I risked my in-game life to just coincidentally guess that Macius was town and not a Neutral like everyone thought he was claiming, and I let you complete your win con knowing full well it would inject lots of anti-SK information into the game and potentially make you a threat?
...and you seriously believe I'm the SK?
Get real.

Get real?

Explain to me how your vote control works. Do you decide it the Night before or at any time during the Day?
It's possible that Wuffs's Motivator role is a red herring.
Where we're at, there is no way the game can end without the three of us able to be lynched if AE does not shoot.
AE, don't shoot toNight.
Let's lynch Wuffs toDay and let the rest of the players lynch me the next Day and then you. Everyone else is confirmed, right?
This way, no matter what your alignment, you win, dan.

Hold on here for a bit. Think I'll be voting iso.
They hate us cause they ain't us.

How does this proxy vote work? Can everyone do it? If so, King me or infect? You guys willing to give up your votes to the town? You know I'm trying to have as much of you win with us by not shooting anymore.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
If you lynch me on the next Day I can at least try to use this Night to either confirm dan as the SK or figure out if there are some Xyre shenanigans going on. I haven't outlived my usefulness yet.

I did confirm that I can't use my recruitment & non-recruiting abilities in the same night with Xyre, and in the google group. Otherwise KCC would've been dead 2 days ago.
The only better person to control information flow is... the cult leader.
Back after work.

Lynch one today one tomorrow if the game is still on.

I'm fine with that. Proxy vote to Archmage Eternal
You really are all over the place.
Please answer my question about you presenting yourself as a threat, when you get the chance.
And you know why I don't want another neutral coming back, AE. I would have to have the game not end for anoher day/night cycle.
Wuffs has been lurking the entire game.
By "since day 1," do you mean the start of the game, i.e. Eron?

I'm not completely against giving Iso another day, as opposed to Wuffles.
@Mods: Votecount?
(4 to lynch or shutdown)
Iso - 1 (ganderin_dan)
Wuffles_II - 1 (Iso)
Shutdown - 0
Experiments Series: #5 (Courtly Intrigue Mafia) | #4 (Drunken Tracker) | #3 (Big Red Button) - coming soon | #2 (Pope Mafia) | #1 (Iso's Inflammable Mafia)
Mini Games: MTGS Mafia Redux II (Invitational, Evil Mirror Universe) | Unreal City
Old Games (bad): The Greenwood Affair | Blood Moon Mafia
Why not end the game again? That seems like the safest bet.
At this point, the neutrals are just going to get weeded out. Minimizes self-risk.
Unvote
Vote: Shutdown
I was patient, but the game has ended with self-interest at the helm.
