The card's most recent move is on right. means no movement. is a card that wasn't on the list last update. This is the update's hottest mover. (#) is price in CND incl. shipping here.
Overall, price action hasn't been very exciting in the past couple weeks. Nothing new came onto the tally, and nothing fell off the bottom either.
Ajani and Sublime both lost a buck and remain locked in a tie for 1st. Liliana held her value while Thundermaw dropped rapidly below that level to land at 4th for now. Thragtusk remains at $10 and continues to not sell, but eBay says $11 is the cheapest you should be able to get it for, so I'll leave it at $10. Jace gained a buck at 6ht place and Nocturnus actually gained about 50% in value this update, solidly taking 7th. The remainder of the list lost value in a rather unexciting way. Just off the tally are Cathedral of War, Chandra, Elderscale Wurm, Gilded Lotus, Krenko, Omniscience, Primordial Hydra, and Serra Avatar.
The uncommons of note in this set are Rancor 2, Jace's Phantasm 1.25, Augur of Bolas 1, and Vampire Nighthawk 1. The rest are 40c or less.
Potential cards of note (either for being surprisingly cheap, potentially ready to make a price jump, etc) are: Trading Post 2.5, Odric 2.25, Rhox Faithmender 1.5, Hellion Crucible .75, Planar Cleansing .6, Battle of Wits .3, Reliquary Tower .3. Reliquary Tower went from $5 to 30c in a month, showing the power of inflating the supply of something. Perhaps central banks around the world should take note of this, as they print off hundreds of billions in currency backed by nothing? Nah, who cares about that
@rancored_elf: I particularly enjoyed this last update. The comments on tower being affected by supply and the parallel to the world bank is spot on. Silver was up almost 10% this week (based on this mornings prices which is good for me!).
So...why the jump for nocturnus? This is the second printing, and it's a promo. Is casual appeal inflating the value that much? Tower has more appeal for edh where you just need 1, so I can see where it's not an exact comparison to nocturnus.

It's good for me, too. But then again, the metal is just holding value, not really "going up"... because those dollars we can exchange it for are worth less and less every time more stimulus or "easing" or printing or QE or Operation Twist (or whatever they want to call it) happens. Still, I'm happy to be holding silver and gold rather than dollars! The parallels between Magic cards (essentially rectangles made of paper and ink, and can be printed off nearly for free) and paper currency are very interesting and loaded with lessons.

Casual for sure, and I believe there's a moderate resurgence of Vampire decks again. Vampire Nighthawk is selling well too right now.

Will Omniscience go up in price again now that it is used in S&T combo decks? On MKM the cheapest are 4E now. I recall it being cheaper a few weeks ago.
Omniscience is a unique card, because it's a lynchpin card in one Legacy deck yet literally gets played in nothing else. Even EDH decks don't really want the card.
If you want to short-term spec on Omniscience, you'd probably have to go big - Japanese foils are in the $30-$40 range, and they definitely have room to grow if the deck is for real. Long term, the card could definitely be worth $10+, but you have to account for the fact that it or S&T could easily be banned.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
People pick up (and hold) Nocturnous because he's fun. I have a playset I don't use but my thought whenever I consider selling them is.. eh.. but vampire tribal sounds so fun!
And I'm eatting some crow over the price of Thundermaw. Rancor killing lingering souls wasn't factored into my equation at all lol. Maybe after rotation he will recover in price. At least he held strong for a few months though!
Casual for sure, and I believe there's a moderate resurgence of Vampire decks again. Vampire Nighthawk is selling well too right now.
Nighthawk remains a real curiosity to me. If you play at FNM's or in the MTGO casual room, you see them everywhere, and it was the same way back during Zendikar standard. It has to be one of the most popular creatures of all time. Vampires being popular with casual players accounts for some of it, but even compared to other vampires, it seems to be an enormous hit. It's not as if that card is particularly "fun" to play with, it's just an undercosted flier. But FNM'ers just go nuts over it.

Demigod of Revenge which is arguably a better card than Thundermaw never went above $10. Even with a Mythic premium why would this card hold at/above $20?

Demigod was also the prerelease promo, and was widely available from that (though the picture was rather aweful on that promo, but still) :p. So you have to take that into consideration as well, and the fact that thundermaw is a mythic, a dragon, and has probably the best stats ever for a 5-cost dragon (mono-colored) in magic's history.
That said, I did some quick checking and it looks like thundermaw has dropped to $15 (might be old news at this point, but I just did a repricing and found the drop) though they have been selling well at $17 for a little bit now at the shop I run/own the magic singles collection/among other things for.
I don't understand why thundermaw hellkite is so high to begin with. It has hardly seen any competitive play, the main thing its good against, lingering souls isn't really in the meta right now. Also compare its power to other mythics at that price point.
I've been talking to a buddy and we both agree that now's the time to pick up the new Liliana. Her swamp search (not basic) will be a boon to any deck running Bx. Her super is just a bonus. It's regular land search/deck thinning for black-based decks. Who doesn't love that?
But then again it all depends on how powerful any black-based combinations are once Ravnica II comes out.

I disagree. Even with the reprint of ravnica duels four mana is way too much to pay for the land search ability especially when she can't even protect herself.
Think about it this way solem gives you a 2/2 body and lets you draw, and Liliana's Shade gives you a 2/1 shade. Liliana 2.0 is basically a rampant growth that gains you four life or a 4 mana Brainspoil. Bad vs Worse

But she does protect herself from her second turn in play on. I suggest playtesting her more, I think you are underestimating her.
Best time to pick her up will be after the mtgo redemptions hit the market and the mythics all take a hit like they always do when that happens. Personally if I was a player and liked black, I would pick her up if she hit $10 but probably not above that. She is best in mono black, but she has a lot of potential for various use if the shocklands do return. As a mono black player myself (old school version on mtgo), I run a boatload of creature removal and disruption, so protecting her wouldnt be that big a deal. She will be a casual staple far into the future simply because mono black is a hugely popular deck type in that area. So personally, $10 or less and I would grab it, above $10 I would wait unless my deck REALLY needed it now for some reason or another.

A rampant growth that's accessible every turn. The four mana eventually spreads itself out to the point where the initial cost means little. The deck thinning capability itself should be good enough reason to run her.

Omniscience jumped up onto the tally again as it is being played around with in Legacy decks (I believe). From $2 to $5 in a week, interesting. There are now 13 cards from this set worth opening in a booster pack.
Sublime launches itself to top spot with a $2 boost in price, to $21. Meanwhile, Ajani lost a buck and sits in 2nd slot. Liliana held value at 3rd, but in 4th slot Thundermaw lost another dollar to sink to an all time low of $14. Thragtusk also shed $1 to settle at $9 and 5th place, but still top rare by quite a large margin. I rarely hear much hype about Jace but it holds tight at 6th, and Nocturnus managed to remain at 7th despite cooling by nearly two bucks. Talrand looks strong despite the trend of rares losing value right now - must be seeing decent play. I don't expect Akroma's Memorial to stay on the tally much longer as casual demand is really the only thing supporting it, it's been reprinted, and chances are decent it'll be reprinted yet again. Master of the PT has been drifting lower for weeks and could be set to fall off the tally soon.
The uncommons of note in this set are Rancor 2, Jace's Phantasm 1.5, Vampire Nighthawk 1.25, and Augur of Bolas 1. The rest are 40c or less. Reliquary Tower has gone from a hot $5 card to an unwanted throwaway with no value, in the short time since M13 was released. I know I've mentioned that card before, but it's hard not to take notice of such a drastic move. Really shows you how reprinting uncommons affects their value.
Have a great week! Next update when prices change notably, or in about a week.

its not a rampant growth, it does not go into play, it does not give you a tempo advantage.
Lilina of dark realms might've been good if she wasn't so bad compared to liliana of the veil.

Perhaps M13 isn't finished surprising us? SIX cards jumped above the $3 level and therefore there are now 19 cards from this set worth opening in a booster pack.
The top 6 cards remained unchanged in both position and pricetag. Sublime looks to be the top card of M13 and seems like it'll stay that way unless Liliana or Ajani start seeing more play. Nocturnus is enjoying a resurgence in Vampire deck popularity, with Omniscience's abuse in older formats bringing it up behind. Talrand still has 2nd best rare status. Cathedral of War finally broke onto the tally, along with Primordial Hydra, Chandra, Krenko, Elderscale Wurm, and Gilded Lotus. The new arrivals (or re-runs) pushed Master of the PT down SIX slots even though his price tag only dropped by a quarter.
I'll leave it there for now as I'm pressed for time. Enjoy
1) That interest in M13 singles (and their price trends) has waned significantly. I've had 3 orders involving M13 products since July ended. Also, there have been only 3 posts in this thread since August ended. 2 of them were my updates to the tally, and the other was an off-topic reply to something from last month.
2) That prices of M13 singles are on the rise. This is unusual at this stage of a set's life cycle. I've noted that unopened M13 product (booster boxes) have become very scarce in the Vancouver area. Neither of my suppliers can currently get even a single box for themselves. Tournaments are having to be cancelled due to lack of product. Expected box value for the set is currently rising, and as you can see in my above post, 6 cards that weren't worth opening last week are now worth opening. I'm not sure how this fits with point 1 above, but there you have it.
Hrmm, must be a vancouver thing (or perhaps canada in general?) We are having no issues with m13 down here. Some cards are definitely on the rise, but not neccessarily significantly. The duals have begun to rise a little, along with cathedral of war, and trading post. Omniscience went up some as well due to legacy mostly, otherwise I havent really seen much in the way of recent increases. With any luck the supply issues up there are just temporary for you all. And yeah, core sets tend to get a bit less attention these days. While there were some cool things to be had, there really hasnt been that profound affect on the format that some of the previous core sets had. Ever since m13 came out, people have been more or less bypassing it, and looking onward towards RTR, which likely isnt helping the set much either, or the conversation in this thread, at least for now. Post rotation, it may get some more attention, but we'll have to see.

I think that the price pressure is from most players buying almost no product, and focusing on sigles, as they can still get a very popular block and there is another on the way, the core is looking unattractive.
At the two shops I play at there have been revolts agaist the shop using M13 for draft and prizes due to the belief in a low expected value.
Personally I like the format and mahappy to pick up multiple duals in every pod I seem to be in.

Personally I like the format and mahappy to pick up multiple duals in every pod I seem to be in.
