Has anybody ever considered this card? We all know how insane Plow Under is; this is its little brother. Memory Lapse is also a great cube staple. In cubes that run a green land destruction/land denial package, this one seems really sweet. It's a better late game top deck than Ice Storm, since it at least denies them a draw step, and I'd say it's roughly as good early game, too. (I.e. it's not going to permanently color hose them or deny them their man-land, etc., but it denies them a draw step.)
Turn one mana elf, turn two this just seems like such sweet tempo. What does everybody else think? I think I'm going to try it out.
When I had an unpowered cube, I had a fair amount of ld support and this card was really solid. Obviously, the nuts was hitting a bounce land, but it didn't disappoint, even when drawn mid-game.
The reason why Memory Lapse is so good: It forces your opponent to waste resources - first by playing a spell, and then a second time by drawing it, at which point it may have become irrelevant or too late. Fallow Earth doesn't force the same expenditure of resources, which makes it worse. Best case, you put a karoo on top of their library, but the variance on this type of play is so wide-open that I'd rather have the consistency of straight land destruction.
I would also dispute the statement that it's a better lategame topdeck than Ice Storm. There are plenty of powerful lands that need to eat permanent removal rather than be temporarily removed for a couple turns, at any point in the game.
