I've seen a bunch of peasant cubes running this. How does it look for normal cubes? It seems like WCS it will turn two points of damage that were headed at you to your opponent instead. BCS of course it will save one of your creatures from a Lightning Bolt or whatever, and kill one of theirs instead. Too swingy/gimmicky?
I ran it in my regular cube for a good while. It's a solid spell. I think larger cubes should have no issues getting value from this card. It's a decent removal spell in the early game, and an excellent combat trick.
This is a powerful and versatile card, this thing manufactures 2-for-1s.
I really like it because good combat tricks are so few and far between in the format, and this is absolutely one of them.
I agree. I am of the mindset that cards that add diversity of play are worth it over redundant cards that are "strictly better". Cards like this keep cube interesting.
This is the kind of card I love in theory which there's little point in running because it will be a low pick and spend a lot of time in sideboards, as sad as it is.
It's a neat and useful spell, but it's reactive, not a threat, not a bomb, not a roleplayer, and not a solution.
The effect is great. I recently cut it however for divine reflection - I lost the efficiency for potential upside, but I also run Shining Shoal too which is a complete blowout usually. I could see playing harm's way over divine reflection tho.
I ran it for a long time, but ultimately cut it for space reasons. My white control decks were able to play the better and more expensive removal spells, and my aggro decks were looking for more proactive removal spells, so it just wasn't quite good enough to fit into my size. If I were larger, I'd play it again in a heartbeat. I do like the card.
