Default [MOR] Coordinated Barrage, Forfend, Sage's Dousing, Pulling Teeth (rumored)

Four more assorted cards to share with all of you tonight:

Coordinated Barrage
w
Instant
Choose a creature type.
Coordinated Barrage deals damage to target attacking or blocking creature equal to the number of permanents of the chosen type.
Common.

(Not particularly different from any other white common that can nuke attackers and blockers. I do like that it can key off of your own tribal hordes or your opponents', though.)

Forfend
1w
Instant
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to creatures this turn.
Uncommon.

(Pretty unexciting fog variant. I guess this effectively counters Pyroclasm, er, or something.)

Sage’s Dousing
2u
Tribal Instant – Wizard
Counter target spell unless it’s controller pays 3.
If you control a Wizard, draw a card.
Uncommon.

(It is my perception that I would happily pay 2U for a cantripping Mana Leak in many, many, many circumstances. Now Wizards just need to be a remotely viable tribe....)

Pulling Teeth
1b
Sorcery
Clash with an opponent.
If you win, target player discards two cards.
Otherwise, target player discards a card.
Common.

(I don't think this card is really worth it.)

I really, REALLY, like the Sage's Dousing. It's something that was needed to be in my UW Merfolk deck to make it more competitive. After adding the white, Cryptic Command just wouldn't work. I then tried Rune Snag but it was just too weak. This will fit perfectly in the deck.

Coordinated Barrage: So a pseudo-Goblin War Strike that nukes creatures. Not to shabby, definitely removal for Kithkin decks.

Forfend: Meh, this aien't that stellar. Yeah, it prevent all damage to creatures, so it can stop certain spot removal, but it isn't that great.

Sage's Dousing: So a cantriping mana leak. With the banneret down its and great bargain, otherwise its a weaker Convolute.

Pulling Teeth: You win the clash its a Coercion, you lose its a Cry of Contrition without the haunt bonus. I guess it'll see limited play, otherwise its kinda lame.

I like any black card that can force an opponent to discard 2 cards for two mana, but pulling teeth is inferior to both, Augur of Skulls and Noggin Whack. At least it is the next card in the win clash/get more cycle.

Sage's Dousing is damn good if you have a Wizard around, but Wizards aren't really good at the moment.

@ Fatguy. I don't think Pulling Teeth is a bad name. At least it is two real words in a row. And Yu-Gi-Oh has a ton of more craptacular names.

And now I go off to Cliff Burton's bass solo.

Something interesting about Pulling Teeth if not ever really applicable - you can target one player for the discard two card part and another player for the discard one card part...
I know! If you're playing a multiplayer game and one player has one card in hand and another has two!

WOW! Colour me impressed. Yes, I agree, now we only need some semi-viable wizards to grace the tribe with in [MOR] and this'll be an valuable uncommon from the set.

Nice cards brother Char!

I think that is just a transcription-error and the second part says "If you win, that player discards two cards instead".

It don't work that way, don't think so anyway. When the spell is played you have to declare a target so you can't switch the target even if you lose the clash.

2007 States Illinois -1st Place Mike Wawszczak: Mono U Merfolk (too tired to show it on here, about to go to bed...)

I think it could be a great sideboard card against control for this deck, letting you side out Psionic Blast or Wings of Velis Vel depending on the control deck.

Forfend, transitive verb
1a. (Archaic) Forbid 1b. to ward off, prevent
2. Protect, preserve.

A fitting name, if an uninteresting card.
