Default [MOR] Vengeful Firebrand, Fendeep Summoner and "Unnamed Mind Twist 2.0"

This probably deserves its own thread - spoiled in Name and Number Crunch thread by the omniscient Impboy:

Vengeful Firebrand
Creature - Elemental Warrior
Vengeful Firebrand has haste as long as a Warrior card is in your graveyard.
: Vengeful Firebrand gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
5/2
Rare

Fendeep Summoner
Creature - Treefolk Shaman
: Up to two target Swamps become 3/5 Treefolk Warrior creatures in addition to their other types until end of turn.
3/5
Rare

Refer to post number 2 for the new Mind Twist 2.0. Seems like this will be a pretty insane chase rare even without Dark Ritual to power it out - Just how many chase green and black rares can we have in Standard? Between this, Nath of the Gilt-Leaf and Liliana Vess you can really choose your discard poison... Control decks beware!

Up to 4 mana, it's a really inefficient discard spell.
5 and on ( x = 3+ ), it's just not that good.
Five mana for 3 cards discarded? I'd rather have a Stupor or Mind Rot.

Mind Twist was amazing because it was a mind rot worst case scenario, but it could be discard 3 for 4, which is very efficient.
With another black in the cost, it's just inefficient.
If it had another bonus, though.. (something like profane command is not very good with only one option alone, but amazing with an extra one)
Edit: Forgot the discard is random. Makes it better. Not chase, but decent, maybe even constructed playable.

I do like the elemental warrior. 5/2 hasty guy for 4, that breathes fire?
Amazing to drop after wrath. 5+ to the head, and possibility for ~10 next turn.

the rares in this set continue to impress.

standard's going to get a nice little shakeup in less than a month. i really love fendeep summoner with the kinship treefolk that puts treefolk into play and thousand-year elixir, a card that will become much more important when the 'tide comes crashing into the MtG world...

OK look at it in decks like elven decks, we run Profane command (well most do) and that does GREAT, We have good mana accell as well, So yeah that's discard 3 or 4 but it's at random, Decks like dragonstorm can still win with 3 cards, one being dragonstorm, but if they discard D storm or all of their storm cards they're up the river without a paddle. Then also you have the synergy of nath in the elf deck (some run 1 of him others run none), It's BEAUTIFULL

This and the new Brain Geyser makes me wonder if we're getting a cycle of fixed X spells from Alpha.

Haunting Hymn saw enough play because it could discard 4 cards for 6 mana. This thing does too but with the at random clause plus there are black/green elves and Midrange decks running around who are able to shoot this thing for 3 on turn 3.

Random discard is more powerful than you think.

We also got Titan's Revenge which costs XRR, so this is indeed a possabilty but I don't think all of them will have the intention to "fix" spells from Alpha.

This is actually really interesting. Maybe manaramp.dec can now be RGb and be able to destroy hands.

I almost mentioned that spell, but with clash it wasn't base set friendly, so I figured maybe it wasn't part of the cycle. I'm hoping to see a more versatile Earthquake variant than Molten Disaster.

If that's accurate, the new Mind Twist is insane! Why would you rather use Stupor? You aren't always stuck at 3 mana. Yes, if you have 3 mana, you wish it was Stupor. That's like saying Shock is better than Demonfire because sometimes you've only got 2 mana. Geez.

I don't like the Treefolk (animating lands is green, not black..... and so are 3/5s come to think of it). Additionally, it wouldn't be very powerful imo.

The hasty man would be great. 5/2 firebreathing is unheard of at 4 mana, let alone sometimes having haste.

I know random discard is good. I seem to have forgotten it's at random when I posted.
That makes it somewhat better. I still think I'd rather have Stupor, but it is quite nice. (2 random discards for 4, or better).

yes, hymn saw play, in teachings. the new mindtwist variant's going to see play about as much as mind spring will see it: quite often. i don't like the treefolk, as they're quite bland. and vengeful firebrand has defenitely got my attention. goodbye gargadon sligh, and hello firebrand sligh.
