Default [MOR] Spitebellows and Swell of Courage (rumoured)

The rumours seem to be flying thick and fast now! Here are a couple more...

Spoiler:

Spitebellows 5r
Creature - Elemental (u)
When Spitebellows comes into leaves play, it deals 6 damage to target creature.
Evoke 1rr (You may play this spell for its evoke cost. If you do, it's sacrificed when it comes into play.)
6/1

Pretty straightforward removal, with 1RR being about the right cost for the effect (see Crushing Pain). I like the evoke creatures on the whole for their flexibility in Limited, a factor that is developed in the next card...

Swell of Courage 3ww
Instant (u)
Creatures you control get +2/+2 until end of turn.
Reinforce X - xww (xww, Discard this card: Put X +1/+1 counters on target creature.)

Now that looks like quite a game-swinger in Limited to me, and I like that fact that you can play it in multiple ways.

Spitebellows is the red response to tarmogoyf and some other big creatures.
This is, for me, one of the best uncommons until now and will allow RDW to fight against Rock and Doran variants decks.

Swell of courage its a nice finisher, if it was at 4, it would be a bomb, at 5 it is good but i don't know if it has space in todays white/* agro decks.

Looks like spitebellows takes care of the creatures shriekmaw can't, e.g. Doran. Double red evoke cost is a bit harsh for a splash though...

EDIT: Sarnath'd!

while the splashability is questionable, i know many players, myself included that have splashed aethersnipe, which has the same base and evoke costs, albeit in blue...

both really really nice cards for limited. Spitebellows is first pick quality removal for red, and good enough to be a role-player in constructed for killing toughness 4-6 critters (such as Goyf + Doran).

Swell of Courage is a nice lategame mana sink for white. Its pretty huge for instant speed creature pump and should create blow outs in late game combat phases. The reinforce is a really nice alternate mode as it allows you to really go all in on a flyer or something. Making your mulldrifter suddenly go from 2/2 to 7/7 is pretty awesome and will finish off ALOT of opponents.

Just curious that evoke creatures in MOR are supposed to have leave play triggered ability. Anyway, nice removal in limited for the alternate version of Flametongue Kavu.

Swell of Courage is instant! pump with alternative effect, white is still the best in combat trick.

Spitebellows is the bigger version of Flametongue Kavu. Probably not better, but certainly not a lot worse.

Swell of Courage can make one of your creatures really big permanently, or all of your creatures slightly bigger this turn. Between evoke and reinforce, versatility seems to be a theme for this set. Me likey.

vs Shriekmaw
+kills black cratures
+is far more aggresive
-costs 1 more to play and 1 more to evoke
-no evasion
-cannot enter play if there are no other creatures

IMHO it is only slightly worse and may in fact see some play.

OM... thank you for the spoils, man.

By any chance can you confirm that the ability for the Spitebellows is when it comes into play? It seems inconsistent with the other MOR evokers. I understand that on this creature the ability BEGS to be on the front-end, but I just was wondering if we had confirmation?

Nice efficient red removal and a good white finisher.

Not really the bomb in constructed but limited really good. Me like.

As opposed to Shriekmaw, Spitebellows kills every relevant creature in standard. As long as there is a RDW in standard (and with Crusher it seems highly possible) this will see play. Of course it won't be as popular as Shriekmaw because a)red is less popular than black, b)Shriekmaw is much more splashable but hey, I won't complain.

Liking the elemental a lot. If nothing, it will be a good sideboard option for fast red decks that had problems dealing with toughness 4 and bigger blockers. A nice one all-around.
The white card is a limited only thing, but will be a back breaker.

Apart from being an absurdly powerful finisher in limited by giving all your dorks +2/+2, Swell of Courage is also Epic Proportions (without trample) in uncommon. Wow.

Spitebellows is likeways ridiculously powerful in limited, and may even get to constructed (?). Unfortunately, one toughness is very fragile, so the creature itself isn't that good. Still, if you can get a hit in with 6 power creature with a red deck, you're in pretty good shape.

WOW! 6 damage! Jus the right number! Now if only I had this last week when I was going against Dread in that draft...instead of a shriekmaw...
