I'm not sure on the matchups just yet.
I know that the deck (like any other combo deck) has problems with MUC. Krosan Grip for Tormod's, Pithing Needle against Dragonstorm/anything, Extirpate against reanimator, Eyes against MUC...
Let me know what you think?
The combo is awesome.
Turn 1 Land.
Turn 2 Land. Oona's Prowler. EOT pitch Reveillark.
Turn 3 Land. Nantuko Husk. EOT Pitch Body Double.
Turn 4 Land. Pitch Mulldrifter/Venser/Merrow Witsniper, Dread Return Body double.
Body Double copies Reveillark.
Sacrifice BD to Nantuko Husk, Ability Triggers.
Get back Body Double (Power is 0 in graveyard!) and Mull/Merrow/Venser.
Sac Mull/Merrow/Venser, sac BD, lather rinse repeat.
Mulldrifter = Infinite draw into whatever you need.
Venser = Infinite bounce for concession.
Merrow Witsniper = Infinite mill.
You can hardcast Reveillark, play body double copying Nantuko husk, sacrifice reveillark, and then sac Body double in response to the ability of reveillark, and go infinite there too.
There are lots of options with Dread return's Flashback cost.
I think its pretty strong. The Teferi's moat is VERY GOOD against aggro decks (which is a slight problem if you dont see Damnation)
I might swap Merfolk Looter for Bonded Fetch, because you can choose bonded fetch as a go infinite target, but merfolk looter makes your Wanderwine hubs come into play untapped... hmm.DONE
Ugh. Idk. The deck is fun, but its annoying to have to explain it every time on MWS. Especially to those who think the ability of Body Double's (reveillark's) can't bring back body double. Dumb.
EDIT: Wow, thanks for the quick reply, Psi. I think I just needed someone to tell me to drop the Merfolk Looters. Done. I think I'm gonna change the 2 Hubs into the other 2 Gemstone Mines so that I can maybe change the SB a little, and drop one or two lands. DECK UPDATED. 1/22/08 12:21 am.
Um...this question is going to sound a bit stupid, but it's bothering me, so I'll just get it over with. Why do these creatures have two different species'? Did an elf figure out how to have sex with a tree?
I am quite a fan of this deck idea. It was discussed in some depth in this thread for a few days before the pre-release. We also settled on a U/B version before the thread sort of died down. There is some discussion there if you'd like to reference. From my testing, the problem was that is was far too difficult to assemble the combo, even with the massive amounts of card drawing. Also, as you put, four Damnations may be required. I didn't have enough removal and would easily get rolled by aggro. It's also fun to note that, while you're bouncing all your opponent's permanents with Venser, you're also making your Husk arbitrarily large, so once their board is clear, you can swing on through for damage x infy. -Jack
Aggro is sort of tough, but a few well timed Damnations and Chump blocking usually buys me enough time to assemble my combo.
Also, GY removal in the SB is countered by our Pithing Needles in the SB, as well as Krosan grip for Crypt. Also, if it DOES happen to get removed, we can just go Faerie/Reveillark Stompy all over them.
A cool thing about Body double, is that it can copy your opponent's graveyard critters. Shriekmaw works against your opponents here!
Get out there, play this deck. Type up some matchups (I seem to be hitting mostly rogue decks) maybe we can make this an [Official Thread]!
I'm not quite sure why you're using Dread Return instead of Makeshift Mannequin ... Mannequin allows you to potentially go off EOT if you want, an important option versus control, and provides one more way (the Mannequin counter) to send Reveillark or the Double to your 'yard if you don't have the Husk in play.
Dread return you can reuse by sacrificing all the little guys to dig deeper with mulldrifter for the combo piece you're missing. Mannequin would be great if this combo wasnt so many peices and hard to assemble.
I see your point though. Maybe add a couple of those?
o7irg:
A. Your deck has 59 cards.
B. Your deck has 0 Mulldrifter.
C. Blink is good, but I dont like it in this deck. This deck isnt FULL of 187 creatures.
D. Shreikmaw is a good idea.. I'll see what I can squeeze in.
E. Mind Stone I like alot. I'm DEFINITELY putting it in. This deck NEEDS some more mana producing.
Okay so what I have seen that Dread return's flashback cost really isn't helpful for me in my testing. So I have switched it to Mannequins. Also, I switched the moats for Wraths of god, since they stop the rogue faeries which are a very hard match up for this deck. I really like this deck.

Its not so much the sacrificing three creatures that helps, its the ability to use the reanimator spell twice. I also swapped the Moats to the SB, but for mana acceleration in Mind Stone. (MS also = Card draw)
I agree, Faeries are a tough matchup for the deck. What can we do against them?
Glad to see people like it I've never created my own deck before. I'm more of a netdecker. I used to run a reanimator with Cairn Wanderer and Akroma/Hellkites, which spawned this deck. I am really enjoying where its going.
Why not throw in an Essence Warden or Merrow Witsniper so you can gain infinite life or deck your opponent. Those seem like better strategies than swinging with dudes.
Alcoholism is a disease, but it's the only one you can get yelled at for having. "God**** it Otto, you are an alcoholic." "God**** it Otto, you have Lupus" ... one of those two doesn't sound right.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.“
I'm just spitting out ideas here, but I'm opting for using reveillark + body double for insane CA and a finisher. It's just that the combos other than that simple part don't seem to be consistent enough. So what I'm thinking about is sticking it in a deck like this:
Again I'm just spitting out ideas. I think the best thing about dropping the combo is grabbing consistency. I don't like setting up a three card combo without tutors. Personnally I don't think that you need any more combo pieces I mean think about it. Whenever reveilark dies it gets two potentially game swinging creatures. And when you just need to finish the game it's a 4/3 flyer which you can potentially copy.

Just a question would mirror entity be better than husk?
With entity you can pay 0 kill off ur 3 creatures and still get the body doubles ability.
Then you can play the deck with only 2 colors.
Just a thought

The Stack wants a word with you.
No, me and the stack have a wonderfull relationship ;). We're even getting married (she's a girl you know?)
That might be a good Idea, however it will kill ALL of your creatures, and then every time you used Reveillark, youd have to get back Mirror entity and reveillark.
Also, sometimes you only want one creature to die.
Very good idea though. Interesting. If you had 2 Body doubles copying reveillark out with the mirror entity, it would work. But thats even harder than the other way.
I feel that global destruction is very necessary for the deck. Teferi's moat is good against half of the aggressive creatures out there but mono colored decks aren't terribly popular and you've only got two moats post board. That and we need to look to the future metagame and see the kinds of decks we'd be pitted against. Flyers in the form of rogue or faerie or both for that matter are definitely going to be rearing their ugly heads and against mana ramp decks we've got hellkites. Flyer's kill us and and Wrath/Damnation kills them. That and have you considered an Urborg/Damnation/Tendrils board plan against those said aggressive decks? That's my two cents

Okay, so I have been doing ALOT of testing with this deck. The main thing that I find needed is Teferi. He gives us a much better game against control, also Use mannequin instead of Dread Return. Also, Putting 2x Saffi might be a good idea. I just need to find where.
Mirror Entity is a genius idea, and I will now be stealing said idea.
[I've been looking for a way to make the deck UWG, running Saffi and Body Double, because more win condition-thingies is never bad.]
It goes ... 'Saffi sac on Reveiller, Mirror Entity pop, Reveiller gets ... Saffi ... and ... err ... Mirror Entity ...'
Blah, that doesn't work. I dunno. Interesting idea though ... almost! It'd work if you had a Boggart Shenanegans in play or something. You are infinitely looping creatures, but you need something to abuse that, now, a non-creature that takes advantage of when creatures enter/exit.
Angelic Chorus gives you infinite life, but I can't find anything else. Damn Wizards for taking all the convenient sac outlets that aren't in red or black. ...
[Red does have Boggart Shenanigans, and Black has Prowess of the fair.]
I think I'm just going to run Husk without black: i.e.
With the possible inclusion of Wall of Roots, if Aggro is too much. And Resurrection, if we need another res. Maybe Akromas in the board too, for the requisite beating down of Extirpate [weeee hardcast!].
Idea is that Husk gets into the yard, then Reveillark brings him back.Through dying somehow [Blink him, evoke him, Saffi him, whatever]. Or you can play Husk with the vivid lands.
Also: Yeah, my land base is screwed up, but it'll work. I don't have turn 1 plays so I can get away with running enough vivid lands so that they're usually my t1 play. I wish I had another 2-drop: I dunno if 8 [and Saffi being one will be hard to cast] is enough.
