Default [SoK] MONDAY PREVIEW! Kagemoro, first to suffer and Okina Night Watch!

After last monday's preview format (Where MaRo simply made his article link go to the card) I expected something similar from Jay Moldenwhaterver-salasomething. I've been hoping to see Sakashima all weekend, but I doubt they'd do it. Jay's pic from the Picture Hacking thread seems to be Skullsnatcher, which would be unique, you know, previewing a nonrare Betrayers card during Saviors preview week.

Rosewater's pic, however, is new.

*raise eybrow*

I guess Budget doesn't get a preview card. Oh well. Mybe there'll be two, like last week. Again, doubtful, but you never know.

----

Okay, it's almost the midnight hour. I'll be putting the cards at the top of the post when they come up, as well as down here. You know, for all the spoiled kids who want cards first.

----

YAY CARDPIC TIME!

IT'S BLACK MARO! How appropriate!

Sorry Plastik, I got it first! :tongue2:

For future threads, please include a proper thread title, and writeup, as Plastik did here. He posted his thread less than a minute after yours, which had nothing but the Image. Its no big deal, but its also not a contest.

Well, this certainly makes it seem like White Weenie won't be a problem in block anymore...

Just one more tool for the crazy gifts control decks.

EDIT: That common looks pretty good for drafting, but it would need to be in a more control-ish deck.

BOTH are hand size cards. Awesome sweetness! This seems to be a massive trend. Now we just need some card advantage cheap instants.

Also: Mr Anus: Oh well. FOR YOU!

This must be the most powerful Maro-creature of them all! It can either be a beefy creature or a black WoG! Very solid indeed!

Well I have to say I am impressed with the black Maro. While no Mutilate, a possibly large body with a possibly easily achieved board clearer built in is nothing to scoff at. Definitely cool.

As for the Night Watch: Nice for limited. While possibly just a more expensive Order of the Sacred Bell, the possibility to grow huge is always nice.

"Kagemaro" appears three times in the Orb. All of them are used up by this here preview card.

So we have no "Kagemaro"s left for "Descendant of Kagemaro."

I just noticed that this is a demon. Is it the next completely playable creature for the demon deck?

That green guy will rock limited.

I think the irony of the synergy of it's two abilities is that it has to die (Did anyone notice the rhyme sceme here - irony synergy ability - ? GAH! Literature is LOST on you! I will also fix the hobo suit) to get them off? Unless buffed, it perfectly kills itself, every time. I like that. It's like a coup de gras of some sort.

The night watch, however, is kinda meh. It's well costed and everything, but it's just... meh. A 5cc 7/6 that turns into a 3/4 if you have a small hand. Mediocre.

Kagemaro's comes up once. It's probably "Hookah, Kagemoro's Descendant".

the maro is good. problems I see with it:

1) the ability to destroy creatures is limited by the amount you are already behind in the game.

2) his ability to hurt an opponent is directly tied to his ability to destroy their creatures. If he is large enough to kill your opponent, you are likely behind enough that you have to use him to kill their creatures.

---

I think I prefer the blue one, as it provides its own method of growing, while providing you an evasion ability and a strong, synergetic card-drawing mechanism.
