The symbol is OK, the crescent with the sun-flames on the bottom of it make it look cool, but I HATE the name and logo. Idk, it seems Wizards isn't trying too hard anymore. But if Shadowmoor rocks, then this shall also.
Whoever said Lorwyn-Shadowmoor mega-block will be full-circle was dead-on.
Lorwyn was Dawn to 2pm; everything is sunny and hunky-dory. Morningtide is 2pm to Dusk; things are starting to get a little crazy with the coming Aurora. Shadowmoor will be Twilight to 2am; the plane is reeling from the aftermath of the Aurora and darkness. Eventide will be from 2am to Dawn; with the story resolving and the plane start to right itself in its Day-Night mega-cycle.
Though Eventide sounds weird, and doesn't gel very well with the tongue.
I'm surprised at these responses. I'll note that "eventide" is a REAL archaic word (try looking it up in a decent-sized dictionary) meaning evening, and not a made-up word like "Lorwyn" or "Shadowfall". It's a fine and elegant word, IMO.

- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.
- Jon Finkel believes in maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. He gets all his fiber from eating Magic cards for breakfast, and all his protein from eating Magic players for lunch.
I really love the logo, the name "Eventide" though is weird. The symbol makes me think of a sun set.
Anyway, isn't July 25 a bit early for Release date of a Eventide? only 12 weeks after Shadowmoor. I expect it would be one week after that, around 1 Aug.

Yeah I don't know why it sounds so odd to some people, but I know I've heard the word before. I like it. It took me longer to get used to "Shadowmoor" to be honest.
i think its boo... eventide sounds bad either way... unless its evantide... which is stupid... on the brightside... apparently eventide is a word and spell check likes it... LOL

This is so freaking true. I mean, I understand that Eventide is meant to be the anti-Morningtide, but Ghurhgs is so right: lazy, lazy, and more lazy. The symbol isn't even that different. It's, almost exactly, an upside down MOR logo with a piece bitten out. I guess the idiot boggarts got hungry and tried to eat the sun. It's on the horizon at all times for a reason: you can't reach it. Eventide, to me, sounds cool and I have no problems with pronunciation, but it's still just so lazy. Something a bit more... new would have been cool.
Despite all the *****ing, I'm going to love the set, I'm sure, and play the **** out of it. -Jack

Did it occur to anyone that in likelihood the set names, concepts, logos, and symbols for Morningtide and Eventide were designed together, at the same time, with the specific intent of being mirrored, rather than any kind of "laziness"?
I think Eventide is really cool. And Creative is not being that lazy. They're just trying to create a natural flow of this mega-block, a la Ravnica.
LOR-MOR were day, naturally the logo's were a
-LEAF (verdant setting) and a SUN (no explanatioin needed).
-SHA-EVE will 99.9% be eternally-night, so the expansion symbols are a BAT (symbol of night [or a CORRUPTED LEAF, depending on your take) and ::drumroll please:: a CRESCENT MOON (no exp. needed again.
Just to reiterate, Eventide's logo is not just some lazy bass-ackwards Morningtide retread. It is a setting MOON to give this mega-block closure
I'm personally really excited. And Charle was correct in saying that WotC really loved the way they did Ravnica, so they kind of gave this mega-block the same templating, at least flavor-wise

There are 4 sets being released in 2008. 52 weeks in a year divided by 4 sets is 13 weeks between each set, evenly spaced. I would assume that they are bumping up the release of Eventide one week so there are 14 weeks between Eventide's release and Rock's release so we get a little more time to play with the CSP-TSP-PLC-FUT-10E-LOR-MOR-SHA-EVE Standard.
i cant really say that i like that its called Eventide.
i understand the flavor reasons of it, but it feels redundant to me to have 2 sets with "tide" on the end.
"Splitting Headache"

A train leaves boston at 9:00 am traveling west at 63.5 mph...
... If you can determine, without the use of a calculator, what approximate longitude and lattitude the 2 trains will meet at in the midwest put a 1/1 Freaking Genius token into play under your control."
How hard do we have to work now a days for a little value in this game? ;p
I'm surprised at the number of people complaining about the word "Eventide". It's a real word, read more English literature. "Eveningtide" is not a word and is a lot more awkward to pronounce.
Anyway, I like the symbol and the way the four sets are being brought together. Not sure what I make of the logo, it's kind of bland.

nobody is saying its not a real word. but i must say, if it was called Eveningtide, i would be more un-happy.

Thought I'd see how the set symbols matched up together. Doesn't reveal a single thing, was just curious what they looked like. First is the Morningtide logo resting in the crescent moon of the Eventide logo. The second is the crescent circle of the Eventide logo overlaid onto the sun circle of the Morningtide logo.

It should be Eveningtide; that way it is the opposite of morningtide....
The logo seems alright though

Any other thoughts?
So, we are getting into a "Mirror" world now?

and thanks to PurpleD @ [<--- Left Play Design <---] for making this awesome banner!
Limited is awesome, join us at [Limited]!
And the symbol is basically just an upside down Morningtide symbol?
How unoriginal.
of course, eventide is itself incredibly awkward
i'm very disappointed in the name

Morning(tide) creates a shadow(moor) and then turns to eventide in the world of Lorwyn. Like the natural flow of time in a day...

Vizzerdrix Count = 183, 3 in Italian, 2 Foil
It's obvious enough that I totally didn't see it coming. Still, well chosen. Really drives home the 2 + 2 theme, plus it's a favorite word of mine.
Isn't Morningtide only 150 cards? Odd. Do you think we'll see a repeat of the Dissention effect -- i.e. a subset of "tie the blocks together" cards?
Isn't Rosewater the lead designer of Shadowmoor too? Isn't that somewhat unusual?

I guess Wizards really couldn't do anything like this without also getting called unoriginal for it.
