1. This is a game. As such, I expect everyone to obey the general rules of sportsmanlike conduct one would expect in any game, which includes following all the rules below. Keep it fun; don't harass me or your fellow players.
2. You may not talk outside of the thread to anyone about anything that goes on in this game. Period. Whether you're dead, or they're dead, whether they're in the game or not. The only exception is if your role specifically allows it.
3. Votes must be in bold, in the form "vote: arimnaes". I would greatly appreciate if you would unvote before voting for someone else.
4. A majority is always required to lynch.
5. You may not, under any circumstances, edit or delete your posts. If you really need to add something to a previous post, the general tactic is to double-post. Try to avoid doing so unless it's necessary, however. (That's more of a forum rule than a mafia rule.)
6. You may not, under any circumstances, quote any game-related PM's. Use caution when paraphrasing them. You are not allowed to post the picture included in your dossier, as it is part of your role PM. If you're not sure whether you can post something, just PM me to ask about it.
7. You may not post anything game-related after you die. You are allowed one short "bah" style post, but that's it. Then you're, well, dead.
8. I expect a certain level of participation out of all the players. The mechanics of this game require that I enforce this rule very strictly. Please post at least once every two or three (real life) days. Inactivity will result in a "mod prod" for the first offense, and immediate replacement after that.
9. Direct correspondence from me may override any of the above rules.
The town win condition is: Eliminate all the bad guys before 24 hours are up.
In the world of 24, the clock is always ticking. No breaks, no reprieves, no pausing the countdown to Armageddon while you get up to go to the bathroom. This game is going to run the same way.
First things first: There will be no night phases. Once the game begins, the thread will be open and the game running constantly until it's all over. It is, after all, the longest day of your lives.
The game begins at 12:00 PM (noon.) Every day in real life counts for ten minutes in the game. Thus, for every six real life days, an hour elapses in the game. Each ten minute segment begins at 6:00 PM EST (real time) and runs until 5:59 PM EST the next day. No smaller units of time exist, so any abilities declared for use during a given ten-minute period will be resolved simultaneously.
You have three hours, or effectively eighteen real-life days, to decide each lynch. Once you lynch someone, the clock will roll ahead to the next three hour block. Thus, if you were to lynch someone at 2:30 PM, the game would automatically roll ahead to 3:00 PM afterwards. If you took until 3:20 to decide who to lynch, the clock would roll ahead to 6:00 afterwards. Why does this matter, you ask?
Because 24 hours is all you have, forces of good. If you don't succeed in taking out the bad guys by 12:00 PM on the next day, something bad is going to happen. If you want to know more, you'll just have to watch the story as it unfolds around you... and as you write it.
As one final note, this game is not based on any particular season of the show, nor does it take place during a certain window of time in the show's continuity. It exists basically independent of the current state of the show and characters.
The following takes place between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM.
The battered gray Camaro peeled down the highway toward Los Angeles. As the car weaved back and forth between lanes, speeding ahead of the flow of traffic, its driver’s eyes continuously darted back and forth between the road, the rearview mirror, and the innocuous-looking black briefcase in the back seat of the car. Drumming his fingers on the steering wheel, the man glanced at the dashboard’s digital clock. Noon already. Dammit.
Barely bothering to look over his shoulder, he jerked the car abruptly to the right and off the side of the road, throwing up a cloud of sandy dust. The engine switched off and the man stepped out of the door, idly whipping a cell phone out of his pocket. One ring. Two rings. Pick up, you miserable –
“What do you want?”
The sound of the voice on the other end of the line immediately humbled him. “I, er, I had to tell you, I’m running a little late.” There was nothing but silence on the other end of the line. “I don’t think I’ll be able to make 12:30 once I hit traffic.”
“Then perhaps you should have scheduled your time a little better, hmmm?”
“Er, yes. I’m sorry. But… I have everything you asked for. I can definitely get it to you by 1:00.”
“See that you do.” Abruptly, the connection went dead. The man held his phone at arm’s length, as if it were a dangerous stinging insect, then carefully inserted it back into his pocket. Shaking his head, he turned around and headed back towards the driver’s door. He stopped halfway, glancing in the back seat window. Slowly, ponderously, he opened the back door, slid the briefcase across the leather upholstery, and flipped it open. Surveying its contents one final time, he sighed to himself: “Dammit. I can already tell it’s going to be one of those days.”
12:02 PM
CTU Los Angeles
Jack raised the knife, hesitated for a fraction of a second, and then plunged it down.
Industrial chicken caesar salad – not the best lunch he’d ever had, but far from the worst. CTU had long ago given up trying to let its workers have time for a proper lunch. The current policy, it seemed, was to just keep people borderline content with eating entirely from vending machines. Between the President’s impending visit to Los Angeles and the heightened security alerts, today’s schedule was even tighter than usual.
As Jack chewed, he returned his attention to the latest intelligence reports – each of them predicting some kind of unrest in the next week, each of them troublingly vague. Division had assured him they were passing on their best intel as quickly as possible, but Jack couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was keeping him out of the loop on something.
For now, CTU was focused on making sure today stayed quiet in light of the President’s visit. All personnel had had their assignments for hours, leaving Jack almost at a loss for what to do just sitting at his desk. His reverie was interrupted by a beeping noise that indicated a new message. He double clicked the icon to see a message of just two words:
David Yamizaki
Immediately, his eyes raced to view the sender, but even as they did so, the computer made another rude beep and the message vanished from the screen. Jack blinked, then pressed the button for his intercom.
“Deborah?”
“Yeah, Jack?”
“Come to my office for a minute. I need you to look at something.” Jack stood up out of his chair, headed down the stairs out of his office, and crossed the CTU bullpen to where the intelligence agents worked.
“Name for you. David Yamizaki. Find out who he is, who he knows, and what he had for breakfast this morning. Get me a report in 15 minutes.”
“Yes sir.”
Jack returned to his office, mind already racing. He’d come to trust his instincts over his years as an agent, and they were all telling him the same thing: something’s coming.
Jack sat down again and rolled up his sleeves. “Time to find out what it is.”
One thing I've always wondered... how in the hell does everyone get around in the time allotted in Los Angeles traffic? Seriously, do they know something I don't?

Obligatory Vote: Loran. Really, I've been in two games with him already without doing that. Isn't it something like a cardinal sin for me not to have voted him for always being scum yet?

What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'

Don't make pointless spam; this isn't 'scum. Everyone is going to get seriously annoyed at you if you do this.
1) If you'd like to try and shoot down a member of another site, try to make sure that you're not ignoring similar behaviour from your own members. Tilde and Xyre aren't following your advice, interestingly.
2) If you're going to make accusations, be sure to look up the words you're using in a dictionary first. While my "first post!" post was pointless (without force, meaning, or relevance), it wasn't spam (a disruptive, esp. commercial message posted on a computer network or sent as e-mail).
3) My "first post!" post was not something I would have done on 'scum, because I find after playing there and reading games here that the members of 'scum are more serious and focused on the game then the members of MTGS. I'm not knocking your site's laidback attitude; you stop attempting to mischaracterise mine.
4) I've heard you're a good player. That's fine. You're most likely respected within your community. That's fine too. It's clear that you prefer MTGS to MS. That's also fine. But save the elitism and haughtiness for someone who'll be intimidated by it.

Phayt, can you link to some games you've played in?
While I agree that Salvation is not the place for 'First post' type of posts, it's the random voting stage, it's all pointless spam.
'First post' posts are far more annoying, though. Even random votes take some effort, and show some kind of thought. Nothing happens when someone posts 'first post,' though, except that everyone who reads it rolls their eyes.
Never mind. Silly me. Everyone does that with random votes, too.

Nah, I don't care about any of that. I used to play on 'scum. I even advertise 'scum to new players, since they run newbie game far more frequently than we do. The reason I stopped had nothing to do with spam and everything to do with the fact that every single player is a lurker.
You may want to check the forum rules for this site, though. What you posted was most definitely spam by our moderators definition. In fact, you might call it a textbook example. Not that it matters anymore, seeing as you'll be modkilled soon.

If townish/scummish, why?
Is your intent in asking for links to games to form a meta of me or just to see how many games I've played?
Rather than cluttering the thread with lists and descriptions of games I've played in, I'll just link you to my MafiaWiki page, which has aforementioned lists and descriptions.

Can you confirm or deny the presence of a Jester role in this game? (I'd hate to think there's a crazy running around with a suitcase nuke or something)
Second, assuming Phayt isn't modkilled for his "error" (If he's an experienced player as he claims, he should have known better.) I'd have to say his action is extremely scummy because of the time constraints in this game. (He might have done it on purpose to get the clock advanced.)
I play on scum as well occasionally, and I know they don't let you do stupid things like edit your posts over there either. This is just dumb. At least the guy's who's probably going to get modkilled is the only guy with a tell so far (overreaction).

Simple, Phayt might be thinking that "Hey, if I get myself modkilled, I might move the clock to 3:00 PM" thus giving the mafia a day's headstart, so to speak.
That makes about as little sense as I thought it did. Modkill is not the same as a lynch. And if we had been sure it had moved the clock, it'd likely still be poor play.

If modkills count as a lynch (Really? Is that speculation, or is it that an accepted rule here?), then forcing myself to be modkilled would be effectively forcing my own lynch. Since when is a scum player getting himself lynched helpful to scum?

The only way this makes any sense at all is if the mafia have the ability to kill more often than every three hours, and if they know that modkills will end the "day," and if Phayt is incredibly unsporting.
Since a townie has no reason to know either of the first two, I'd say there's good reason for suspicion here.

By getting yourself modkilled? If the town didnt get to use any abilities but in trade got a mafia member modkilled, it would (barring weird circumstances) take that trade every time.
I'm trying to decide if tilde is just being an idiot town (which he often is) or idiot scum....
If he made one of these posts, i'd say idiot town, but his insistance on continuing makes me think otherwise. Vote Tilde.

While I agree that Salvation is not the place for 'First post' type of posts, it's the random voting stage, it's all pointless spam.
Except on MTGNews, where a scum has been caught in the random voting stage for like the last 4 games straight or something.

I love this post. It has so many layers of "what the hell?" in it. It's not emotional, it seems more like a player trying to justify himself and overdoing it.
Phayt, can you link to some games you've played in?

*dryly* I'm glad you like my post. Do you find it townish, scummish, or just amusing?

Simple, Phayt might be thinking that "Hey, if I get myself modkilled, I might move the clock to 3:00 PM" thus giving the mafia a day's headstart, so to speak.

Vote Tilde.
