Ok so that was my favorite art of all the card arts spoiled and now I get the card? I smell a deck idea and a very nice one at that... b/r flamekin with it possible as they looks equally amazing.
I agree the art is wicked not to mention that by itself it is a 5/4 flying haste dude for 5 mana... who also happens to bring back copies when played. This card is going to see play.
This makes me wonder how powerful those Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers will be considering the discount multicolored spells get. I could easily see a lifelink ability and first strike ability on them.
That's a spectacular card, reminds me of Giant Solifuge in many ways. The potential to bring back his dead buddies gives him both combo applications and a strong late game (considering you don't even have to resolve it to get his ability).
He seems pretty nuts in the proper deck. Me likely! Seems good in most aggro decks of his colors

Into the Maw of Hell is a name so awesome, it deserves its own song.
It would be about a world of brown spikes and red fire, where men fight and scream and become blurry masses. Then it would change to somber, we learn that this glorious place exists only in Raymond Swanland's head. To visit it, you must enter the maw of Hell itself.
If you want to be particularly Spike-ish: you play the first Demigod, which his ability triggers and goes on the stack. If an opponent gets counter happy before they let the seemingly useless ability resolve, they send the Demigod the 'yard, at which time his triggered ability resolves.....returning himself to play. I can see several judges being called for this exact situation at the pre-release. When playing against counters, you need to ask if the ability resolves before or after he plays the counter spell.

I did not make that connection until now.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS!!!!!!!!!!?
Heh, F U Blue!!!!!! Ya I could see some careless players messing up with the stack there. Not to mention the synergy with Oona's Prowler against control. Play one discarding another getting potentially two of them is amazing. This card just keeps getting better.

actually you dont even have to ask them, they have to say that when the spell is on the stack they have no responses, then you must say the ability resolves then they have to counter it. if they counter it before you tell them you resolve the ablility then you can bring it back.
This does a good job encouraging people to collect 4 of a rare, much like the Grandeur cycle from Future Sight. I approve Not sure if it's my kind of card (though the haste makes it tempting).

It's a favorite of mine due to the haste and evasion! Plus the potential to win you the game by top decking and returning all of the ones from grave to alpha strike your opponent for 10+ damage! EAT YOUR HEART OUT TARMOGOYF!
Could some rules guru check this out for me? I just got a wacky idea that could make this even OMG-er than it already is.
First player plays Demigod. The spell goes on the stack, and the "when you play" trigger goes on above it. Second player plays Counterspell, targeting the original spell. Counterspell resolves, Demigod is countered... Demigod goes to the graveyard? Is that right? Cause if it is, the next thing that happens is, the "return to play" trigger resolves, looks at the graveyard, sees a copy of Demigod in the graveyard (the one that was just countered), and returns it to play?
EDIT: Doh, sarnath'd
ALSO EDIT: I think this pretty much confirms the "popular mechanic" as Hybrid Mana. I'm sure I've been sarnath'd on this, too, but I don't care, it bears repeating.
Yes, Confusion, that's how it would work. If your opponent responded to the triggered ability with a counterspell, then the Demigod that gets countered would get returned by its own triggered ability.
However, if your opponent let the triggered ability resolve FIRST, and then play Counterspell, then you wouldn't get the Demigod you just played.

Level 3 Magic Judge
Do you know any judges who always impress you with their work ethic, knowledge, or attitude? Nominate them to be the next Judge of the Week!
This guy is nuts and I mean insane nuts. I speculate that there will be more 'Demigod of...' for the other hybrid allied colors. A demigod of inspiration for U/W, a demigod of hope for G/W, a demigod of rage for R/G and demigod of secrets for U/B that all have the same interation of 'when you play demigod of .... do something with all other demigod of .....' Either way I'm going to preorder my box as soon as possible purely based on the awesomeness of the artwork already spoiled. Well that and there are scarecrow in the set.
The Demigod is pretty nasty... the use of hybrid mana for him and some other guys is a nice way to support the Lorwyn tribal bits without having to pander to them or clog up card slots in the new sub-block.

Also, this rules out people's speculation that this guy is from Howltooth Hollow, since his abilities have nothing to do with the Land.
Akuma will wreck you.
Edit: Sorry, you must play it, I was thinking when comes into play

Kithkin are green to blue
Elves are black to white
Flamekin are also black now
Giants are white to green
Fae are the same
This is all i can decipher, but there's so much speculation that's i'm drooling.

I thought is was pretty well confirmed that "The Reaper King" was the inspiration for the symbol.
