Well, it seems that MagicTutor got a few extra images that haven't been included in the 35-art batch leaked some time ago. In 3 of their 4 SHA art previews so far, there is always one unknown art included. Or, more precisely - the kithkin and the blob-thing were seen as packaging art on boxes, just the last - the strange construct (possibly another scarecrow) is entirely new:
It is quite probable that in another batch, there is gonna be another unknown art.
Yeah, third pack screams for artifact and suddenly contraption comes to my mind. Though, I doubt the background is red with a bit black, can it be hybrid red/black artifact creature?
Yup my mind also screamed omg Contraption! The art of the contraption is very similar to what the Steamflogger Boss operates. It seems the new boggart riggers will be assembling dastardly contraptions - remember the other artwork which also shows boggarts with an assembled giantlike thing...
I guess this would change the preprints from Mistmeadow Skulk and Graven Cairns to more likely Mistmeadow Skulk and Steamflogger Boss.
Could it be then that Riggers require a Tap ability then to assemble a contraption and would benefit greatly from the haste ablility? Steamflogger Boss seems like a not-so-bad investment to buy now then and if it turns out that riggers/contraptions don't appear in Shadowmoor I guess you could always have fun with a casual Changeling build and the Bosses ;-)
It can still be Artifact Creature - Scarecrow Contraption without any interaction with Steamflogger Boss. As long as WotC doesnt define assembling, they can tease us with contraptions all they want.

Yes, except for being made of magically bending wood, stone and rope as opposed to metal, and moving of its own accord as opposed to being mechanically driven, it's extremely similar to the Steamflogger. If you use the same criteria, it's also extremely similar to, say, Memnarch. SHADOWMOOR IS CLEARLY MIRRODIN IN DISGUISE

Sigh someone always has to be the voice of negativity. For someone with 16 posts under the belt you come off as unnecessarily rude/sarcastic don't you.
Anyways to me it still seems like a similar look and feel, and it would be made more organic and woodlike to compensate for the Shadowmoor setting. I'm holding thumbs it heralds that riggers will be in the set.
The contraption thing looks like a frog. I'm sure it's a contraption but I can't figure out where you people are getting SCARECROW from. For all we know....it could be one of the tokens in the set.

These are pretty interesting. I doubt though that it is a contraption. It looks like it could be just a weird scarecrow (possibly artifact as previously mentioned).

i know this is tooo much of a strech, but look at the mutterly picture at the top of the article. reember that hanna barbera show where mutterlly and Dick created those wierd flying CONTRAPTIONS ? could it be just a cohincidense? or am i just a little paranoid ?
For the last time, people, the whole thing with Steamflogger Boss and contraptions was a JOKE.
While this is true, it also ticked off A LOT of people when they admitted it. Could be they are going to actually try to work something in just because of the reaction. Besides, it's certainly not beyond R&D to mess with us (not that I'm saying I'm on the contraption bandwagon... but they sure as hell know that pictures like that are going to give us plenty to run with).
Are the Scarecrows confirmed or is it just a speculation? I think that all of the scarecrows will be Artifact Creature- Construct, 'cause to me Scarecrows and Constructs are one and the same. But I can be wrong.
What i do know, though, there will be no contraptions. At least in Shadowmoor.

While this is true that it ticked people off and that they have been known to change their minds on some things. When it was revealed that steamflogger boss was a joke as well as riggers, contraptions and the like they also said (either MaRo or Foresythe) that maybe someday someone will come along with a way to make contraptions and assembling work but there is no foreseeable future for assembling contraptions and that no one on their current staff really had any way to make it work. This happened about a year ago which is very foreseeable for someone in design or developement.
That art is likely a construct. Lump me in with the people that are getting annoyed with the contraption fanboys. it was a joke much like coldsnap being lost in a dank basement that they only discovered from going through old files move on with your lives

From MaRo
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled
Thanks to chaostheory90 for finding this quiz for me
The art for the undead treefolk-looking fella is on par with the first batch we saw, but the second two aren't up to par. The third one, the scarecrow, is definately out of place, IMO. There shouldn't be any cute in Shadowmoor.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
You know, I think the flavor behind scarecrows is that everything that is made of wood is suddenly coming to life (or undergoing the "Rising"). Maybe these scarecrows were made out of dead Treefolk or something.
While this is true, it also ticked off A LOT of people when they admitted it. Could be they are going to actually try to work something in just because of the reaction. Well, even if they would consider to change their mind in the very moment they received such reaction, it was far too late for Shadowmoor, that was pretty much sealed and finished in that moment, and they were in the middle of working on Alara.
And I doubt that they would bother with incorporating Contraptions into SHA for that reason....
The Goat has got paws like the dogs. Maybe they have changed because of the Aurora, like the Kithkins and the Merrows...
It is a springjack, the very same like on Knight of Meadowgrain, Springjack Knight, etc. Something like hybrid between goat and a hare. It looks a bit scarier than before, but otherwise, no change.

it is a Kithkin Construct artifact creature:galepowder mage.Maybe it won't have the kithkin type (this is not a tribal set, but flavourwise, it is definitely a kithkin thing if you compared it 0,00001 seconds to Galepowder mage.
Heyy, that's right! Those bottles over there are are certainly ring some bells to me!

It was stated several times by WotC themselves, I do not understand why some posters are jumping on such conclusions every time the occasion occurs.
Whereas this image really fulfills the meaning of the word "contraption", it would probably be another artifact Scarecrow.

the whole giants merging with treefolks concept kinda would support that too.. maybe this set has more parallels to lorwyn block than we know.

New springjacks resemble a mix of goats and pigs, not hares and goats...
Last piece of art reminds me of that Mosswort troll for some reason... Same artist?
