(edited to fix bad translations)
Hi, I write very rarely but it seems that no one sent you details about the new cards published in the french magazine (Lotus Noir) so here it is: I don't have a scanner available so I guess you will have to wait for someone else to get those.. I will skip on the cards that I have already seen announced here. (height domination?) Dominer de haut cost: 2/G 2/G 2/G (uncommon) Sorcery Until end of turn, target creature gets +4/+4, trample, wither and "when this creature attack, the target creature must block it if possible".(it inflicts damages to creatures with -1/-1 counters). the number is unreadable and the artist is Thomas Denmark second card: Rituel de scarification d'ecaille (difficult to translate, may be scarscale ritual) Sorcery cost: 1 U/B (Common) As an extra cost to play this spell, put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control. Draw 2 cards. The number is difficult to read and the artist is Richard Sardinha last card: Incinerateur de ciergecroc (hmmm, I won't even try a translation on this one) Cost: 2RR (Rare) Creature: Giant Shaman When this comes into play, discard a card at random. If you discarded a creature card that way, then this deals to target player a number of dammage equal to the strength of the discarded creature. 5/4 Number 82 or 87/301 artist Jeremy Enecio. EDIT: Merrow Wavebreakers - ![]() ![]() Creature - Merfolk Soldier (C) ![]() , Untap: Merrow Wavebreakers gains flying until end of turn. The merrow's prey moved away from the shore, until they learned how to follow them. 3/3 Last edited by rancored_elf : 04-01-2008 at 04:17 PM. |

Is Ritual the french Instant? Do we know what Wither is yet?
Also, I don't think the first card's 'must block' clause is correct.

I like that second card... a lot.
If only there were ways to utilize -1/-1 counters! Then it would be fantastic! Thanks for the information! |

These look pretty cool, especially the rare giant.

The explanation for wither on the card is very short: it inflicts damages to creatures as -1/-1 counters. The article itself does not describe much more...

Wither seems like it is probably a lot like flanking, but with counters instead of "until end of turn"

That makes sense for the mechanic name...any creature that blocks it "wither"s away. It certainly adds a new dimension for limited especially.
And that add a -1/-1 counter, draw 2 cards...heck...even Leech Bonder makes that pretty good. Cheers, Austin |

Wow, I like this batch...
Before anyone cries about the giant, lets see what it is a call-back to. Lets get to orb confirming these! Quote:
The topic creator has provided us with information from Lotus Noir in the past. These cards are legit, lets just focus on translating the names.

Assuredly, there will be... There will be a card (or several) that will be: "Sac a -1/-1 counter to do xyz."

Three great cards this time, yay!
Instant is a great combat trick and somehow acts as a removal. Also gives trample to Mr. Troll. Instant is awesome. Just awesome. So, I draw two cards for two mana? And I just need to put a counter on my Gourger? And it's a common? Yeah, MBC is returning after all... Giant is okay - big body, built-in removal, great price for all of this. And it seems that my Wither guess was wrong =.= Oh well. |

Wow... Wither is pretty strong. Persistent damage that gets around regeneration and indestructability. If they have a fat blocker and you attack with a smaller Wither creature, it's not fruitless, it still makes the fat blocker a lot weaker.
Additionally Wither on your own little blockers is a strong deterrent. I'm seeing a lot of combo potential and Fish-strength in {U/B} right now. Leech Bonder, Shadowmage Infiltrator, Inkfathom Infiltrator, Psionic Blast...
