Just got in our Game Trade Magazine today and I noticed a picture of the Eventide booster box. Has a rather neat dragonfly thing on it. I didn't see this in the other thread about the diamond comics preview magazine images, but I only skimmed it briefly. My apologies if this is already known.
Man, the rumors for the next set already starting the day Shadowmoor is released? Is it just me, or does this stuff come out so fast now that it almost seems like you don't get to look at the current cards before you start getting to hear the hype about the as of yet unreleased ones?
Not that I'm complaining, really. I love rumors and such... and I realize that if I have an issue with hearing about it to early I could just not read the rumor mill... But really, Wizards is already putting out product shots for a set being released three months from now? It seems a little like going out on a date while your ex-girlfriend's corpse is still warm!
Looks like it could be a new Liege to me. More proof of enemy-colored hybrid?

If this set was going to be enemy hybrids, does anyone think it would say something like that? I mean, maybe I'm looking for it too hard, but what it says in the ad seems to imply more of what we have now, not enemy colored stuff.
It does say that Eventide expands on the "hybrid man cost" mechanic... however, I don;t think that statement offers any specifics to confirm or deny enemy hybrids.
The image on the box is obviously similar to the (U/B)liege as they are both fae riding on insects. This makes me wonder if Winona Drider (our lady/insect from the Eventide spoiler card) is actually just a faerie riding an insect in the foreground of the art.
@Filby - Now you don't know that. Perhaps the cards in Eventide have flavor texts that read Players love the hybrid mana symbol. or Boy, isn't Wither just neat.

If it's really a drider, then no. Driders are elves mixed with spiders (and is a good idea for a BG creature).
Also, for some reason, it doesn't look like a faerie to me.

Well, yes. Obviously if it is a Drider it would be . . . well . . . a drider.
I was going to mention something about how Driders appeared sexless, so a female looking creature wouldn't be a drider in the first place. However, I see that current D&D ecology has them maintaining their gender after creation )
If that is a faerie riding that insect than it is one messed up looking faerie. It appears to almost be decaying and seems to lack wings... though maybe these are the wingless fae they mentioned.

It doesn't overtly confirm it, no, but this, along with an article I saw recently on Wizards (Implicitly going into the logistics of Enemy colors within the Shadowmoor setting) rather sharply alludes to it. I wouldn't wager my soul on anything at this point, but I'm inclined to believe that Eventide will be enemy-colored hybrids.
I don't know that we have actually had any confirmation on the name.
edit: You know, the more I look at it the more I think it really is a faerie (either wingless or with wings folded back) riding an insect. In particular at the figure's left side, it appears as though there are legs straddling the side of the insect body. Unfortunately the text makes it difficult to see if there is an insect body extending beyond the torso out of the frame.
Are... the prices usually that high? I dunno about in the States, but they sell booster boxes for $89.99 here.
Presale is always cheaper. The cost for a retailer for a booster box is about $60-70 US... but after presale they typically sell them for what "retail" is, which is 3.99 x 36 = 143.64.
I took a closer look at the image that Yurei provided for us. Although I'm aware that the diamond around the artwork could be cutting them off, I don't see anything on that faerie that looks like wings either. It also appears to be in pretty bad shape (similar to the one in the pack ad).
@Singer - I'm sorry, it didn't register with me right away. Winona Drider is not the actual name of the card, but is a play on words of Winona Ryder. I similarly used to refer to Leaf-Crowned Elder as Morgan Treeman before we knew the card's name (Morgan Freeman). Sorry about that.
Winona Drider's legs kind of reminded me of flippers. I was originally thinking that she might be a selkie since they have been mentioned a few times in various articles and whatnot, yet we have no cards. I haven't heard of any insect-women in celtic mythology either (not that I'm an expert or anything) and they haven't been mentioned in any articles (to my knowledge).
What is most surprisingly to me is the fact that there is no mention of the novel of Eventide! Shouldn'r it be included in the Fat Pack or at least be sold separately?

The knights see a mighty quarry. The dragon sees breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
"On to book matters. As Doug Beyer's already mentioned, the Shadowmoor set doesn't have its own novel; the traditional trilogy will conclude with the Eventide novel. Instead, the Shadowmoor book is an anthology of short stories about the plane and its inhabitants, stories that'll give you a wider view and fuller sense of what's going on and what's changed. While Cory Herndon's and Scott McGough's novella "Ode to Mistmeadow Jack" will continue some threads from the Lorwyn novels, the other stories may do nothing but explore some of the people and places that call Shadowmoor home. It's the perfect opportunity to absorb all that is Shadowmoor and get a good idea of what this world has to offer. It's been a while since Magic's last anthology, but Shadowmoor is definitely a world that benefits greatly from the multiple short story treatment. A must-have for storyline fans!"
So I guess EVE will get the third novel even if the trade mag description doesn't say...

Amazon always seems to have the next Magic books available for Pre-order looong before the book is released, which in turn is before the set is released. I don't want to link to a specific sale page on a site like Amazon.com, but the Eventide novel is indeed up on Amazon. I actually stumbled across the Time Spiral book I pre-order page shortly before Wizards has offically released Time Spiral's set name. Ever since then I've used it to get book information for new Magic books (The Planeswalker's Guide to Alara is up there, too). It's a good resource.
It's just a plain booster box. Nothing interesting. What gets me is that it says 3.99 a booster. That's not a good deal. Of course, it could just be the individual seller. But still, I'm unhappy when they charge extra.

"In another life, in another dream,
By a different name,
Gave it all away for a memory and a quiet lie.
But I felt the face of a cold tonight,
Still don't know the score,
But I know the pain of leaving everything very far behind.
And if I could cry,
And if I could live,
What truth I did then take me there,
Heaven Goodbye."
