I know that MTGO information isn't typical in the Rumor Mill, but since the Morningtide Vanguard abilities were posted before that release, and WotC hasn't officially confirmed these abilities...QED.
The avatars are already in the client as of the SHM code push. (Set >= to 0)
Murderous Redcap
Whenever a creature comes into play under your control with a counter on it, you may have it deal damage equal to its power to target creature or player.
Hand: +0
Life: -2
Reaper King
Each creature you control gets +1/+1 for each of its colors.
Hand: -1
Life: -5
The one that is rewards through T8 placement is currently unconfirmed (albeit it's a 99.9% chance of RK, since legendaries are usually T8)
However, MR will be more easily broken, thanks to Modular and Makeshift Mannequin.
umm, watchwolf alone is a 5/5 for 2? Doran is effectively an 8/8 for 3, even boros recruis is a 3/3 firststrike for 1 mana, how is that for insane..
All you need to do with pack a bunch of cheap hybrid creatures, and you're good to go.
The best use of the first one would seem to me to be making Muderous Redcap + Juniper Order Ranger a two-card combo. (You target the redcap with one of its damaging abilities and your opponent with the other).
Creatures with Graft pretty much guarantees that you have creatures coming into play with counters on them. AND, every creature you play comes into play with more and MORE counters!
Reaper King is still stupid good, as he was in Beta as well. You're looking at the format without using the Shadowmoor cards.
Two turn 1 3/3's is not uncommon.
For first turn options you have Manaforge Cinder, Scuzzback Scrapper, Tattermunge Maniac, Elvish Hexhunter, Seed Cradle Witch and Rhys. Gemstone Mine (or R/G Dual Land) + Simian Spirit Guide gets you two 3/3's attacking on turn 2, followed by a land and two more on turn two attacking on turn three. Put some burn in there (shard volley works well) and you've got a win on turn 3 from a handful of x/3 creatures.
It's silly how fast it is. Mono black rogues are actually faster than this, but they're all x/1 and x/2's so you can recoup on turn two with a pyroclasm... but the beatdown you get from the Reaper King fueled creatures is ridiculous.

But thats a win t3 off a good hand. Try to look at Maro. t3 is kill 70% or more currently (I've played it abit and nearly all hands will lead to a t3 kill. 70% is proberly slightly to low I think but its about that). Seriusly this is not goldfish t3. Its t3 kill through blockers AND removel. I have made t2 kills a few times but that is luck deppended. AND that deck will proberly get alot better with Devoted Druid (like unfairly much better). I would assume that t2 kills raise to a pretty normal event with that card.

Um... No, both of the abilties are triggered, and since you control them both, you chose the order they go on the stack.
On the OP's info.
Interesting. Pity I don't play MODO:(.
It doesn't when it first comes into play, as the avatar only triggers if it comes into play with a counter on it. When it comes in via persist, they will both trigger and you can choose the order. It does allow you to use the redcap to shoot itself and the other ability to shoot your opponent though, so it removes the need for a sac outlet.

Always accepting ideas for a new title! PM me with your ideas.
Reaper King, IMHO, is overpower, and the -1 hand will be -2 after 1/2 premiers.
With monocolor creatures, works as a glorious athemn, force of savagery becomes a bit playable no?
Turn 1, non-non, 4/3, turn 2, painters for black (5/4), turn 3, painter for blue... (6/5)... then savagery... 11/3 trample....
Any cheap creature becomes a nonlegendary isamaru... hybrids then...
I'm most intrigued by Redcaps ability to churn out burn, via the previously mentioned Keldon Marauders. Whoa.
I dunno, a psuedo, one sided Pandemonium seems pretty broken. Maybe more so than the average avatar? Normal hand size, and only -2 life isn't too shabby either.
lol. +1 mana per druid, plus it can attack for 1 before you untap it...
Well that's the idea.
Vanguard is just so weird, I'll probably never get into it, but it looks like loads of fun. =/
No. More like: Play it. In the same turn: tap it to pump a 1 drop. Untap it. Tap it to pump itself. Untap it. Pump the 1 drop 4 more times... hit for 20 something t2...

Low manacost on all spells apart from the Serpent, which you want to use as much mana as possible on. Greater Good to sacrifice your creatures before they vanish, keeping you stocked with creatures. High power for manacost all around. Primal Forcemage speeds things up. Fertilid is the best manafixer for this deck. Sideboard has additional ways to keep your hand filled with what you need.
Just out of interest, what does the Maro avatar you guys are talking about do?
Tap an untapped creature you control, Discard a card: Target creature you control gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of cards in your hand.
I'm a bit sad that the reaper king got made like that, I just hope it won't be as powerful as it proved in beta. Shame there weren't more problems with SHM forcing more QA focus.
* stubertio shrugs
Still looking forward to 'breaking' the redcap and knocking them rogues out of the air...
Then I can return to momir with or without snow lands
Apparently, they're also giving the Reaper King to anyone who wins a SSS release draft, in addition to the usual ability to get him from getting top 8 in an event with top 8 or getting at least 12 points in an event without him. You still can't get Murderous Redcap from drafts, though.

I really like the Redcap avatar. This would wreck with my WRG Changeling deck, as I use Bramblewood Paragon to pump my guys. I wish WoTC made more Vanguards for paper Magic. *le sih*
btw, you wouldn't happen to post on Guild Wars Guru would you?

Noone says you can't look up the MTGO ones, print them out, and have some casual fun.
I don't want to use up slots on cards like that (since they don't come into play with a counter on them), and Greater Good negates the drawback of loosing your creatures. (As for Keldon Marauders, I want them to hit the graveyard.)
I'd rather use something like Deadwood Treefolk, which can get me two cards back from the graveyard AND deal 3 damage! Notice that it's one of the cards in the sideboard....

Reaper King. Transguild Courier? Boros Swiftblade? That's all I can think of.
Scrapbasket & Scuttlemutt work well
Also, things like the forecast of Govern the Guildless
All you need to do with pack a bunch of cheap hybrid creatures, and you're good to go.
The second one seems perfect for some sort of multicolored Zoo deck. You know, the kind that thrives off of Pillar of the Paruns[/cad]. Start off with a 4/3 Tattermunge Maniac or a 3/3 Boros Swiftblade, Zealous Guardian, or Rhys the Redeemed. Turn two you can drop a 5/5 Watchwolf or Scab-Clan Mauler or a 3/4 doublestriking Boros Swiftblade, or a 4/4 Any guildmage or something like Gaea's Skyfolk. Turn three gives you the effectively 8/8 Doran, the Siege Tower, 3/4 Psychatog, 6/6 Ashenmoor Gouger, 5/6 Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers, etc.
Currently Playing:
Legacy: Something U/W Controlish
EDH Cube
Hypercube! A New EDH Deck Every Week(ish)!
There are a ton of ways to have fun with it:
Phyrexian Marauder or Shifting Wall? SURE!
Modular creatures? Yes!
Lightning Serpent? Blimey!!
Creatures with Bloodthirst? FUN!
Persist creatures (including Murderous Redcap)? Now we're talking!
Triskelion is just flat-out insane!
Spike creatures, Phantom creatures and various artifact creatures (like Clockwork Beast and other clocks)?
Creatures with Vanishing just got ridiculous:
Keldon Marauders just became life-threatening!
Calciderm is a no-brainer....
Waning Wurm is roaring out: I'M BROKEN!
Lavacore Elemental joins the chorus.
So does Ravaging Riftwurm!
And Chronozoa is, if not competitive, then at least interesting!
But I've saved the best two for last:
Creatures with Graft pretty much guarantees that you have creatures coming into play with counters on them. AND, every creature you play comes into play with more and MORE counters!
And then, finally, my favourite:
Maga, Traitor to Mortals! He deals double damage!
For a measly :10mana::symb::symb::symb:, its good game!
Iiiiit's Johnny Time!
