Patrick Cox won the Talahasee PTQ playing kithkin, not positive what he played against in the finals, a 5-color deck, not sure if it was elemental, or some control variant.
The other two decks rounding out the top 8 in Boston were GB midrange and a merfolk. The semis were bucher vs. fae and bucher vs. fae.
I didn't see who else made it into the final but the fae deck that did, won game 3 when she Puppeteer Cliqued his Cloudthresher killing the Clique which persisted and grabbed another Thresher, dealing 4 in the air total to take out a Plumeveil, clearing the way for the Threshers to swing for 14. It was an epic play to advance to the final.
Merfolk defeated Faeries in the finals of the Nebraska PTQ.
MN had an all Faerie finals.
Boston had 3x Bucher, some Faeries, some Kithkin, with one Faerie deck in the finals that I know of.
Anyone else?
We had a GPT on Saturday - not as big as a PTQ, but still fairly competitive. I left before Top 8 (since I'm a bad player and went 3-2 drop), but I believe it consisted of:
Levy
Faeries
Faeries
Kithkin
GW Elves
Bucher
That's the six that I know made it in. I suspect that another Levy deck made it in, but beyond that, I'm not sure.
Quarters:
Kith V Fae (IDK V Tim McMath)
Fae won
Fae V 5c (Melissa De Tora V Matthew *something*)
Fae won
Merfolk V 5c (A very drunk guy V IDK)
5c won (I'm hoping Peebles will talk about said drunk man in his article. It was rather funny)
GB Rock V 5c ( IDK V Benjamin Peebles-Mundy)
5c won. Peebles was in no danger of losing at all. Ever. One game the guy resolved Oona but Peebles just won the next turn. The GB deck had ZERO chance.
Semis:
Fae V 5c (De Tora V Peebles)
Peebles stole the first game. I don't think he even thought he was winning the first game. De Tora won the second game. Third game De Tora won in a well-deserved clapping ovation from the croud. She Puppeteer Clique'd Peebles' Thresher, Wiping everything except a Plumeveil. The Persisted Clique nabbed another Thresher which did wipe the Plumeveil. The pair of Threshers swong in for 14 haste damage plus the 4 that they dealt Hurricane Style.
I didn't stay for the rest of it because it was already 10 o'something and I had a 3 hour drive home ahead of me.
It was pretty fun.
I ran Chapin's version of 5c and had to win the last round to make top eight. I was 5-1-1, but lost to Tim McMath playing Fae, who Top 8. My only other loss was to Matt also playing 5c and also in the Top 8.
I'm assuming that De Tora won because the rest of the top 8 was positive matchups for her. I won't elaborate too much because I'm sure Peebles will be elaborating on it in his article, as will Sean Mckeown, who also attended.
If you're in this Top 8 and I misspelled your name or something just pm me or tell me to change it. Thanks.

Bizzare Mannequin Deck
I stayed long enough to see one shaman, one kithkin, both faeries, and the mannequin get to top 4
I was interested in the mannequin deck, as i played against it round 4 and he played nothing but blue and black lands ( a few vivids of that type as well) for 5 turns along with counterspells. This led me to believe he was playing faeries. So i overcommited with my kithkin fellows and he austere commanded me on turn 6 basically ftw lol.
The merfolk deck was run by my friend Matt Langford, he was playing 14 maindeck counterspells, including negate which worked really well for him all day!
He also played the deck really well all day, so... his Fae matchup is pretty good, but his kith matchup is about 50-50 so it ended up coming down to playskill.

Do you have the decklist for merfolk?
Im interested in seeing how merfolk handle without LoA. I guess 14 maindeck counterspells does help...
1st; Faeries (GCB!)
2nd; Kithkin
3-4; Merfolk
3-4; Faeries?
5-8; GW Barkshell Blowout
5-8; Not sure about the rest, although there was at least one Faeries build here.
Faeries was the deck at Philly, with the top tables teeming with the deck pretty much all day. 5-color control was fairly absent at the top expect for a select few good players, and Kithkin was prominent as well.
On an upsetting note, Mark Schmidt had his deck stolen. This is the second consecutive time at this tourney site, as a Goblin deck was stolen at and EXT PTQ last year

4 Kithkin
2 Faeries
1 5-color Control
1 Merfolk
I think I might be wrong about the kithkin count, might have been 3 kithkin, 2 5-color, can't remember.
Currently losing with:
W Midrange White (Standard)
UB Faeries (Block)

Yeah, I'm also curious as to how Merfolk played with the lack of 8 lords. Sounds fishy to me... No pun intended.

techoverrated.techoverrated.yes it does (if by BB, you mean Bitterblossom).
Nah, he means Bosk Banneret. You can't let those Shaman decks get away with anything in this format... They're dominating. ;-)
EDIT: Post 1000!
