Welcome to:
The First Edition of the "Single Elimination Contest: Classic" on MTGsalvation forums. Towards the beginning of last school year I hosted this competition. Needless to say, it failed. I'm determined to rehost this competition, and harbor a better result.
How many people can play?
In this contest I need twelve people.
1. Solesticio
2. BlackBull
3. Autumn Willow
4. penguinwriter
5. MagicProfessor28
6. Krey
7. WUPBRGspellsPlanarChaos

10. snoopYah
11. FuriouslySleepingIdea
12. IT4
How does this contest work?
At the beginning of every round I will post a list of groups. Each of these groups will consist two randomly paired contestants. In order to advance to the next round you must provide a better card then person you are set against.
What are the guidelines?
Each round you will receive a different criteria. Both people in each group will have to make a single card following their given criteria.
How should I post my entry?
Your entry should be posted the following way: Ashcoat Bear 1G Creature - BearCOMMON
Flash "I am Ashcoat bear, not Grizzly. I promise!" 2/2
What is the Grading Scale?
Flavor: X/10 Creature type vs. color? Does the ability fit into the color pie? Balance: X/10 Synergy? Cost vs. Power? Grammar: X/10 Spelling? Structure? Originality: X/10 Have I seen this before? Playability: X/10 Would anyone want to play your card?
What is the elimination process?
After I am through grading I will post each individual person's grades. The person with the lowest grade in each group will be eliminated. It should look like this:
12 contestants on Round 1.
6 contestants on Round 2.
3 contestants on Round 3.
1 winner, 1 second place, 1 third place on Round 4.
To him,
Nothing has worth
Unless it belongs
To someone else.
It is not the lust for wealth
That drives him
Simply the hunter's thrill,
And the moment
Of acquisition.
Nothing is truly your own.
It is his –
Whether you know it or not.

ROUND ONE: (Please, put your cards in spoilers. I do not want people to look at other people's card. One, it give away the "suprise." Two, this contest is meant to judge YOUR best ability. I'll start with an easy one)

Phoenix, though since BlackBull didn't use spoilers I guess I'm not impressing anybody with that answer. Gatherer also makes that kind of thing kind of easy.

When ~ comes into play, it deals 4 damage to each creature without flying.
When ~ goes to a graveyard from play, remove it from the game with three time counters.

I misread and thought it had to be legendary. Well, might as well keep the card up. I realize it may be over the top, but this was an early draft.
Hope, Chandra's Familiar2RR
Legendary Creature - Phoenix {R}
