you know, for years i have been a big vintage player, but after these restrictions, im moving over to legacy.
after reading your article and others ive seen about the format, i now know that its balanced and better than vintage(which is really broken in its own right) the deck im building right now is a variant of fetchland tendrils. ive always been a combo/control player and im sticking with it. i too am an avid deck constructer. and this article help me work out some of the kinks ive had lately. thanks

Excellent article, Finn. A lot of food for thought. My own personal deck for Legacy is Aggro Loam, and like your article points out, it is a mesh of the three types - big creatures, massive board sweepers, and a Loam engine.

Excellent. It's been a while since the last article and this series and it is my favourite. It inspires me to build original decks and try to understand the elements of deckbuilding in legacy. And to see what I meet in my meta and how I can beat it. Thanks

Very good read. I've always been interested in Legacy the most as a format, and this article helped me understand how it got to where it is today.

You're right about Painter's Servant, even without Grindstone, it makes so many cards very annoying.
Had this gone up a bit later, I would have suggested this deck, which took second at my local Legacy, only narrowly losing to me in the final because I had sideboarded Gaea's Blessings, and had enough removal for Jayas. It could also Transformationally SB into Dragon Stompy possibly (at least adding 3spheres and Chalices) so that after the board it can take on fast combo, and be strong against non blue decks. |

The reason the card choices and numbers for the original sligh deck were so odd was, for that tournament you had to have at least 5 cards from every legal expansion in the deck, if you look at the other decks of the time you will see a ton of 4xSerrated arrows and a random card to fulfill the homelands requirement.
The more you know. |
