Im not sure if this has been posted, but on Patrick Chapins article today at StarCity he quite possible hints at a Magic Tv show that he is involved with. I was wondering if anybody else may have heard about this. And no we are not talking about the magic show. At least i think not.
Let's just pray it's not just Wizard of the Coast's excuse to sponsor Evan Erwin on a large scale... we don't need another form of The Magic Show.. or worse - their official coverage.
It would be great, however, if they could finally somehow pull off a quality program, as they tried in the old days on ESPN2.
lack of interesting content??? Would no one like to see a reality show with patrick chapin, mark herberholz, and nassiff playtesting for an upcomming pro tour. We would have bar shenangans, PAt comming up with crazy ideas and mark shunning them. OH and then they would have a Real World style closet cam with Pat crying about how hurt he is and that Mark should be kicked off the team. Special guest appearnces by Gabe Walls and the like. I would love this show. A reality MAgic TV show.
I'd certainly love ESPN style coverage again. This reality idea, almost made me cry. That would be the most nerdy, geeky, halarious thing i've ever seen.

Urza forbid that for being the outcome. I wouldn't mind even if its a 1 mini-series consisting of 12 cartoon episodes of Gerrard, Crovax and others that follows the book and is 45-or more minutes per episode.... that would just be my 2c.

while i really like the idea of a tv show, i don't think they would want everyone to see their new ideas before a big tournament.
Assuming this T.V> thing happened they would never give out information like this. The season couldn't even be done till they were at, or close to, the tounrey anyways. Then take into account edditing time etc. So there would never be a fear of WotC giving out the new thing to everyone prematurly.
chances are... tv shows are usually filmed months in advance before they air. So there tech would not be secret by then. Oh and if there being paid, I doubt if they care that it got leaked. Nothing is new anymore thanks to Magic Online.

Its funny you should say that, because it seems the rumors seasons have actually ben slowing down a lot. We got only one card leaked for morningtide, wtf...?
I'm a Michigan player and have been to RIW a few times. News is that the show is for G4, of the reality type, and has Chapin and some other pro's preparing for worlds.
How the show will ever stay on the air is beyond me.

Sweeet, Thank you for some comfirmation. This is what i was hoping it would be.

That would be rather funny seeing Chapin crying like that. Not that I mean any ill-will to him personally, but it would definitely be entertaining; even if it were faked.
As for this magic tv show, I don't have any particular interest in it unless they really make it good. I guess there is a good amount of interesting content it could use but that's a finite sorce. IMO.
Considering all the info seems to come from the SCG forums of P's article, may as well repeat what has already been said (and confirmed) here.
1. G4. Pretty much the only network that would touch something like this.
2. Heezy and Cheon are apparently appearing as well as P.
3. Expect a mini-series type show with preparations leading up to worlds.
Now for the personal opinion.
I liked watching Magic on ESPN, it was fun and when it was done right, it was enjoyable. I don't think that will EVER happen again, the viewership is too narrow.
I feel the show will suffer because it either has to be real-world esque following the outside life of magic pros, or it's like the televised gaming that is only popular in Korea.

not neccessarily the case since sporting events and stuff like the nba/nfl draft are done in real-time.
having worked in a sports draft before i can say that with a great production crew and great staff they can turn out incredible shows in real-time.
a lot of stuff like you find on mtv is complete crap. most of it is done with inexperienced guys and what not. it is there to build up and find the next great producers/directors.

Considering the way that ends wouldn't they have to start with the brothers war to give it context and introduce urza.
The show could be about 10 episodes long. starting with gang getting together. maybe throw in some real world stuff. The only reason those reality shows were entertaining was becuase the people were entertaining. And i find Pat really funny. Maybe it could be filmed around the premise of the magic colony. (you know at like stag ranch or whatever it was). and it could all rap up at worlds. Think of all those funny and stupid reality shows take out the house on the beach throw in some magic games and you got a show.

The only way that show would stay on the air is on a niche channel like that. ESPN is never going to happen again.

All I get for coverage is Youtube, I don't get ESPN in Canada, our Sports stations do not cover it. I like the Magic Show, late Friday nite I always check it out.

I don't see whats wrong with giving Chapin as much camera time as humanly possible. The man is funny, and good at magic.
