Default [EVE] Banishing Knack, Razorfin Abolisher & Gilder Bairn (rumoured)

Captain Blue is back with a few more blue cards!

Banishing Knack -
Instant (C)
Until end of turn, target creature gains ": Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand.".

Artist: Howard Lyon
Card #: 17/180

Abusable with cards. Might be able to see play in combo decks. Useful in limited too, IMO.

Razorfin Abolisher -
Creature - Merfolk Wizard (U)
, : Return target creature with a counter on it to its owner's hand.
2/2

Artist: William O'Connor
Card #: 28/180

I think this card is too slow, but in limited reusable bounce is always good. Also great to rescue (after combat damage) your own persist guys with their -1/-1 counter.

Gilder Bairn -
Creature - Ouphe (U)
, : For each counter on target permanent, put another of those counters on that permanent.
1/3

Artist: Nils Hamm
Card #: 152/180

Meh. No great power/toughness for its mana cost and the activation cost is quite steep. Can kill off creatures though.
Obviously a cool card with older cards with different counters! I'll put it into one of my casual decks, that's for sure!

That's it for now. A bit more patience on the counterspelling creature with persist !

Thanks for more spoilers!

I like the Gilder Bairn for just the reason you said, casual!

The abolisher is good with stuff like Finks I guess. Block with Finks, return it to your hand after persist, play it again next turn.

The Ouphe is decent/good in limited for multiplying the -1/-1 counters, but there really is no other use for it.

The instant is actually pretty good. It essentially is u:tap a creature you control and return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand.

Banishing Knack- That're pretty useful, but hey, there's better.

Razorfin Abolisher- That's actually pretty awesome if you ask me, persist saver and it can get rid of creatures with a bunch of +1/+1 counters.

Gilder Brain- Epic win with Wither & Persist, that's all I got.

It's one big limited part for now. Allthough Banishing Knack really is a card to think about. It's cheap, lovely, instant and doesn't really desire much to remove someone's whole manabase or creature line up.

The first playable Merfolk from this set have to apear. Though I never ever complain about the fact that the Merfolk tribe has grown by one more.

Well, limited and casual fun with the Ouphe. I let it slip away in my mind.

Gilder Bairn looks like great fun with Planeswalkers beyond the obvious -1/-1 counters. Helps you get off your ultimate immediately!

I like this batch. They're not so great for constucted again but pretty awesome in limited!

How about Gilder Bairn + Storage Lands?

Sounds pretty good to me, if a little slow...

Win in 4 turns with Gilder Bairn and Darksteel Reactor! (as long as you can attack without opponent having a 3/3 creature or better...)

Banishing Knack is lovely with conspire cards, Memory Sluice Ghastly Discovery and cheap untappers like Puresight Merrow.

Agreed pretty much.

In limited, while the ability is costly it is also very open ended and useful. Getting back your withered creatures (those hit by -1/-1 counters) and those that came back from persist, and play them as fresh is very useful. Also in casual constructed heaps of fun with stuff like Sheltering Ancient and Soul Snuffers. The later can even be pulled off in limited.

This is more useful than people think. The body is really not that bad for the cost especially not for blue considering you want it to survive the attack (altough an extra point of toughness would be welcome). Sure the untap cost is steep but it is on a decent body and it DOUBLES counters. I am pretty sure that makes plenty of johnnies excited for casual decks. Say how about doubling counters on Fertilid and the like for starters. In limited this can slowly make -1/-1 counters lethal,

Finally, some interesting blue stuff. I like all of them - not for competitive Constructed, but all of them are fun and can be central parts of zazzy casual decks. That's the type of cards I love.

And I'd have fun with this in my UR Chaotic Deck (no direct win condition, just designed to cause havoc in multiplayer games). It's a new toy for Radiate, where every creature gets to play with bounce!

Hey, kids, look! We finally found a way to abuse Hankyu! Whaddya say we go in the backyard and try it out?
Constructed applications - right now - are few that I can think of (outside of Immaculate Magistrate), and fewer that would be practical. Nothing wrong with casual cards, though. After all, the majority of people playing this game are doing it for fun, not Tournaments.

Well, you'd expect it to have either or in its casting cost, but I'll pick up a set if it ends up being with either a copy or deflect affect. Thanks again, Blue...

Damn I thought Banishing Knack said all creatures that would have been sweet! It'll sure be good with Razorfin Abolisher can't wait for the pre-release. Come to think about it would be sweet to open the three of these Razorfin, Banishing Knack and Leech Bonder at the pre-release!
