Hey all me again with the 2nd instalment:
MONSTRIFY 3G (C) Sorcery Target creature gets +4/+4 until the end of turn. Retrace Gackt came to regret keeping his pet toads on his head. 70/180 Lars Grant-West HATCHET BULLY 3R (U) Creature - Goblin Warrior 2R, T, Put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control: HB deals 2 damage to target creature or player. "It's not much for eating, but I think we can find somethin' to do with it." 2/2 54/180 Paul Bonner CRUMBLING ASHES 1B (U) Enchantment At the beginning of your upkeep, destroy target creature with a -1/-1 counter on it. "I was there to watch my brothers' quenching. I drew the slightest warmth from their dying rage." - Illulia of Nighthearth 35/180 Chuck Lukacs Last edited by Warthog : 07-07-2008 at 09:26 AM. |

Thank you, brother Warthog! Keep 'em coming!
The bully is interesting for limited, although it's kinda slow...

Monstrify is pretty good in Limited. Repeatable pump, even at sorcery speed, is welcome.
Hatchet Bully is amazing in Limited. In response to my guy dying, I pay 2R and deal 2 damage to something. PWNED nub. Crumbling Ashes is okay, but it needs to be built around - in Limited and Constructed. Maybe some kind of deck full of wither, Scar, Puncture Bolt and Blowfly Infestation. |

I think I can tell you what art belongs to each of these cards.

Very nice cards. The Monstrify isn't very good because it's sorcery speed, and sorcery speed pump acts more like burn to the dome, but it's alright.
Hatchet Bully is amazing, will turn the combat step in your favour without too much trouble. Crumbling Ashes is really situational, not very good in limited, may be fun in casual.

Crumbling Ashes can be very good in Limited, but can also smack you right back in the face. However, if I do open one, I'm quite sure I'd play it. Will cause much havoc. The monstrify.. meh bit expensive for that pump. Not sure bout the bully, cept if you have a outlet that can handle -1/-1 counters(hatchlings etc.).

True, but you couldn't turn a land into a pump spell with it. I imagine that giving a creature +4/+4 every turn in the mid/late game is enough justification for making this Common cost 4 mana.

I really like Crumbling Ashes.
That combined with Soul Snuffers and Necroskitter sounds fun.

Woot. I called Monstrify =)
Crumbling Ashes seems nice with all the -1/-1 counters/effects. At least its not overcosted and thus might see play. Somewhat of a bomb in limited though.

Wither is getting a serious boost in this set! Much better quality cards and support cards than what Persist has been getting. I'd be surprised if it doesn't spawn an new tier 2 archetype.

Thanks for the cards.
Monstrify- A more expensive but repeatable Monstrous Growth, limited solid thanks to the retrace. Hatchet Bully- Another limited card, reusable removal is always nice even in a vulnerable and mana intensive creature. Crumbling Ashes- Deals with persist creatures, works with blacks large number of -1/-1 counter giving effects. Limited solid, constructed probably unplayable but worth testing.
