Default The High Life - Mono-White Lifegain

I was cooking up this deck for my play group, which includes a lot of burn and aggro, and with some of the emerging cards from Alara I was wondering what kind of lifegain deck I could build - and one that could actually swing and kill, not just gain life for the sake of life. So I am concocting this as a potential concept. I want to gain life, annoy the hell out of my playgroup, and cause massive pain when needed, while staying Mono White. I've also decided to keep it Type 2, since that's all of what I have anymore (I liquidated a lot of my older stock)

If anyone wants to suggest a Legacy or Extended type version of this deck they think would be amusing, do tell.

Deck
Lands
23 Plains

Creatures (16)
4 Akrasan Squire
4 Knight of Meadowgrain
4 Kitchen Finks
4 Divinity of Pride

Enchantments (8)
4 Runed Halo
2 Endless Horizons
2 Story Circle
Instants (8)
4 Unmake
4 Demystify

Artifacts (3)
3 Quietus Spike

Planeswalkers (2)
2 Ajani Goldmane
Sideboard
4 Luminesce
4 Oblivion Ring
3 Burrenton Forge-Tender
4 Paladin En-Vec
Thoughts?

exalted angel definately. i also think if u put edge of divinity, evershrikeand spirit loopyou could have some fun. ive been wanting to build a deck around evershrike but my other deck ideas and lack of money is outweighing it, but i think he would be a decent addition to this deck.

You could make the infinite life deck with Shaman en-Kor and Daru Spiritualist along with Starlit Sanctum.

Then you can with with Test of Endurance. That is much more annoying life gain that will really make people go nuts.

Har har, I heard about Test of Endurance, I wager I could find that cheap, and I used to have some Daru Spiritualists, never had the Shaman though, that's a thought for Legacy type build - would I build a different deck around that, or just swap bits from my build? If so, what would be swapped?

@Mishramtg: Yeah, I was thinking of Evershirke and Spirit Loop, and Edge, which I have in plenty, if I had more BW critters. Might still consider it, Evershrike is pretty cheap since no one has been hot for it competitively.

And oh, the Battlegrace Angel! Yeah, forgot her, same basic cc as Divinity, same P/T, and if she attacks alone she is a 5/5 Lifelinker (or more with added exalteds), or gives that bonus to another lone attacker. So I guess the question is do I go for the 5cc critter that can be an 8/8 and is immune to Terror and Shriekmaw, or the white critter that isn't, but that can bestow a bonus and life-linky goodness to another lone attacker... I dunno, probably will test both, as long as Battlegrace Angel remains a sub $5 card, which will likely be the case.

Thanks for those suggestions.

Loxodon Warhammers are very fun for smashing face and gaining life. I always wanted to put one on Divitny of Pride...
Beacon of Immortality is fun
Wrath of God is excellent.
Ghostly Prison would help keep you alive in the early game.

Not sure on the point of Quietus Spike or the Squire
I like disenchant over demystify. I would MD O-ring too...

maybe a bit more land too? (~24).

It would require a completely different build that wants to get the combo out as fast as possible, so you might have to splash green for Living Wish/Eladmri's Call and definately want to use Aether Vial.

You could do a similar combo with Daru Spiritualist and Shuko, it happens at sorcery speed, but it works.

Again, if you want to go for the Test kill, you need to completely redesign the deck around that. Look up life.dec.

Sample Legacy build http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showt...u+spiritualist

sample Extended build http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showt...u+spiritualist

You can try the enchantment Boon Reflection. It doubles any life gaining effects that you can produce like damage through lifelink, so you can imagine gaining 16 life through Divinity of Pride ^__^
